hi everyone my name is debbie
and i'm a full-time reseller today
i hit a milestone i have sold a thousand
items on poshmark and i wanted to share
some of my experiences as a fairly new
poshmark seller what i have learned
i've been selling on ebay for 16 and a
half years
but i've only been on poshmark for about
a year and a half
and really got serious about it
probably about eight or nine months ago
i would like to
share some of the things that i was
unsure about that i thought maybe were
different about poshmark
and some of the things that i learned
along the way and things that helped me
really progress and make a lot more
sales on poshmark to give you a little
more information
i started on poshmark because i was
looking
up some information on an item and i saw
that it was selling
for more money than it was on ebay so i
thought i'm going to try this platform
out
so i listed like 20 things and then
just forgot about them and every once in
a while i would get an email that said
something sold
and so i would ship it out so the first
year i looked back at my taxes i only
sold 238 dollars because i wasn't
putting
anything really into it and so the next
year
a couple months had gone by this was
2020
and i thought you know what i really
want to give poshmark
a shot because i started watching
youtube videos
on what sold and i heard people talking
a lot about poshmark so
i wanted to give it a real effort around
april or may i
really started listing a lot more
and implementing some of the things that
it takes to become successful on
poshmark
and in 2020
so last year i didn't even put in a full
year i sold a little over twenty
thousand
dollars on posh on any platform that you
are
on you want to do the basic things of
listing consistently
have nice clear pictures good
descriptions disclose
anything about the item that might not
be perfect have great communication
ship quickly those are the basics for
any platform so this
is 10 items that are specific to
poshmark
that i had learned and helped me do
better
number one i really learned how
important it is to send
offers when i was on there those first
six or eight months and i was not
sending offers
i was not making sales very often at all
i'd get an email like
once a month or so that something sold
and i was pretty lucky to have anything
sell because it's not often
that people just come in and buy
something without an offer at full price
so i really learned that that is crucial
and now
what i do is i send offers as soon as i
see
a light come in i don't wait for a
little while i tried i thought well i'll
wait 10 minutes and see
if they will send me an offer or they'll
just buy it but now i think it's
crucial that you get them while they are
on
the app and they're looking at it right
then before they
go to look at something else or maybe
they're at work on their break
and they only have that few minutes well
if you send them the offer later
they they might not be on their phone
then they might have lost interest by
then
so i have found the most success on
sending the offers as
quickly as i can then i
also you know i can't always send the
offers immediately so i'll just check my
phone
once an hour or so and if any likes come
in i'll just go ahead and send offers
out in the morning
first thing in the morning i send out
offers consistently sending out offers
really helps number two
i learned that i could not list an
item for what i want to sell it for
poshmark is
built upon sending offers and people
getting
items at a discount it's kind of
like when you go to a car dealership if
i go in
and a car is for sale and they're saying
it's ten thousand dollars
i know there's no way i'm going to pay
ten thousand dollars
i know there's going to be some
negotiation and probably
that car will sell for about eight
thousand dollars so
if i went in and they were like nope
that's the price i would probably just
leave
because i thought they're not willing to
negotiate that's kind of like how
poshmark
is people know that they are going to be
sent
offers and get a better deal and people
like feeling like they got a bargain and
a good deal
so if you just mark your items up about
20
then that will cover you and give you
some room for negotiation
normally i will sell things i'll first
send out an offer for
ten percent off plus a discount on
shipping
and then sometimes later i will go back
and i'll send out 20
offers visually works very well
sometimes people will send offers to you
and that's great but the majority of my
sales are for me sending offers
to people that have liked my items the
third thing
that i have learned is send messages
to buyers that brings in a lot of
business poshmark is so friendly they
are built upon
sharing and communication and kindness
and
love notes and just everything happy and
kind and i've never used so many emojis
in my entire
life but that is kind of the community
and people really like it when you send
them a message and offer them a better
deal
so what i do is sometimes if someone
likes a listing
i will send an offer or if i have a
little more time
i will go in and i will create a bundle
and i will message them and say thank
you so much for visiting my closet
i'm sending you a 10 offer but if you
would like to buy more than one
item then i will gladly send you a 20
off plus discounted shipping offer thank
you so much and have a wonderful day or
something like that
and send it to them and you would not
believe how many times people message
back
and they'll say oh yes i wanted this
other item
can you help me add it to my bundle and
send me a discount or
i don't get paid until next friday will
you still honor that next friday i
really really want this
and it's unbelievable how many cells i
have made by communicating
with other people and it takes a lot of
time
to type those things out at first i was
typing it out all the time
and then i figured out to use text
replacement and so
i will just go in and i have on my phone
where if i put
pb which stands for posh bundle and then
the space bar
it'll just put that in the message
so i don't have to type it out every
time and it brings a lot of cells and a
lot of bundles
so communication is great on poshmark
number four
is i was really surprised how poshmark
absolutely backs their no returns policy
if you have everything clear in the
listing
and you have done everything right
described your item and the person just
wants to
send it back because they don't like it
or it didn't
fit them or just any type of buyer's
remorse
they will not let them send it back they
will
encourage re-poshing which i think
that's excellent that's what i do if
ever i get something and it doesn't fit
or if i don't like it i just resell it
because then that saves on everybody
from
having to ship it back and forth but
i've had several
instances where the person asks to
return the item
what happens is someone will open a case
it's not very often
but they will open a case and say that
they would like to return it
then it gives the person selling the
item
an opportunity to respond so i go on
there and i say i'm so sorry you did not
like the item or the item didn't fit
i will be happy to do whatever poshmark
decides
and poshmark always decides
to not let them return the item there is
every once in a while
though that i will go ahead and say to
let them
return it if i feel like it's it's
someone that
is a return customer i would do that i
haven't had that happen
but it there are just certain
circumstances where
i just feel like i will take it back and
resell it
and so you can do that and if you say i
will accept the return then poshmark
will allow it number five i learned
to check the sold comps on poshmark
not just on ebay because the ebay is
always where i would check salt comps
but it can really vary from
ebay to poshmark so if i want to sell
something on poshmark i
always check the poshmark current
listings and
sold listings because those can really
vary what people are asking and what
they actually sell for
so when you're looking to make a
purchase look and see what the items
have actually sold
for and also see how saturated the
market is
say there are a hundred of the items for
sale but only 10 of them have sold
that's probably not a good idea because
there are too many out
there now say it's the opposite and
there
are only 10 listings that are current
but 100 have sold
then that's a great item to get because
the demand
is higher than the supply so
don't just check the listings on ebay
though check them on poshmark
also you want to check where you're
selling number six
i learned how important sharing your own
closet is
versus sharing everyone else's closet
when i first started on there i would
notice people would share my closet all
the time so i was spending most of my
time
sharing their closet instead and then
i figured out that that doesn't really
help me it's really nice and wonderful
and i do share other people's closets
but
that when i share their closet they're
only
getting their items shown to my
followers
where if i share my own closet
then it actually changes where my
listing is appearing in the search
results
when you have an item for sale
and you share your own item it moves up
high
in the search results so you are a
an item that has just been shared so
when someone just goes on and is looking
for that item
yours appears higher in the search
result if someone
else shares your item it does not move
up in the search results they are simply
sharing it to their followers so that
listing is exposed to the people that
follow them
and if they have a huge following that
could be good
but the following of poshmark in general
is of course a lot larger so you want
your items to
move up in rank so always share your own
closet
put those listings up high and have them
fresh every day
number seven is how important
packaging is and making things really
cute and fun for the buyer to open
on ebay i was always just okay i want to
be efficient
i don't want to spend a lot of money on
shipping supplies making sure it's neat
and clean and protected
is what counts and i got on poshmark
with that same attitude
i don't need to spend money on stickers
or cute wrapping
but it does matter a lot on poshmark and
i figured that out really quickly when
i sent something out and it was nice and
clean and perfect but the person gave me
four stars instead of five
because the packaging was not up to par
so i learned to buy cute things
and actually i love it it's so much fun
so let me
show you i order stickers on ebay
and i love these like i'll put
this one thank you for shopping a lot of
times
on the interior package when i
i fold it over and put a sticker on top
or
this one i just got this one this is a
new one it says
warning opening this package will cause
extreme happiness
i thought that was so cute and then i'll
have this one
your order made my day i hope this
package makes your day
and then i have some that have my shop
name
on it and and it says thank you for your
purchase
love to shop 242 and that that's
actually my ebay store
i actually have two ebay stores and two
poshmark stores
so um so i have to get different
stickers for each of them
but that just makes it fun for me also i
realized it's kind of like when
i was teaching school sometimes i was
like i don't know if i'm buying all
these stickers and stamps for the kids
or for myself because it made
it more fun for me when i was grading
papers to put the cute little stickers
and stamps on it
so it's kind of the same thing i have a
lot of fun packaging when i'm
making the package really cute so i
actually thought that was a negative
about poshmark
and i love it the next thing
is i wasn't sure about hostics
and i thought how do you get to be a
host pick what does it do i thought
oh if you're a host pick your item
probably sells
automatically and for full price well
that did not happen at all
probably five times that i've had a host
pick
and the items have never sold that one
of the items that were a host pick
ever sold but what i found it does do is
it creates a lot of
time because people start sending you
messages
oh congratulations on your host pick and
sending all these emojis and
really nice sweet things and so i end up
spending all this time
sending back nice little notes to them
and then sharing their closet for them
with no cells but i'm sure it does
something
it generates some kind of more there's
more activity
so i'm i'm sure it helps them but it's
never resulted in itself for me
then and the next thing i was really
curious about
was posh ambassador i thought the same
thing kind of along the lines of the
host pick
i thought oh what's going to happen i'm
going to get all these followers all
this
business i thought something big was
going to happen so when i got close
i worked so hard i was sharing because
you have to have
certain a certain amount of shares and
you have
i can't i can't remember all of the
criteria so i will pop it
up but one of it was sharing so many
listings so i went
crazy just hours trying to share them so
i could become a posh ambassador
and then i got it and i waited and i
thought
you know something big was going to
happen
going to happen i didn't notice any
difference
in activity level followers or sales
and before that i i knew i was trying to
get there i was tracking every day how
many followers i was getting how many
cells i was getting because i wanted to
see what the jump was
and there wasn't any so i don't know if
there is something else that i have
missed according to what i've said about
the host fix and the posh ambassador
and if you want to leave it in the
comments below that would be great i'm
just
telling from my experience what happened
with me
and the last thing i had no idea
how much i would love poshmark poshmark
has been
a wonderful community so many repeat
buyers so many people that send such
nice
notes of appreciation and
just such a loving environment so i
enjoy selling on poshmark so much i will
definitely
continue to sell on poshmark and try to
even
up it more this year spend a little more
time
add some more listings on poshmark
because i enjoy it very much
thank you so much and have a great day
bye
