in this video i'm going to share my
favorite poshmark tips my favorite
do's and don'ts when it comes to
poshmark so that you can make
even more money and sell even more items
on poshmark
and grow your poshmark business stay

[Music]
hi everyone my name is becky park and i
am a part-time reseller
and when i started my reselling journey
about three years ago
i actually started on the reselling
platform poshmark
i found it to be super easy super user
friendly and i started off by selling
items out of my own closet
out of my husband's closet and out of my
kids closet
after i started selling through that
stuff pretty quickly
i learned that there was a whole
community of people
who were selling things on poshmark as a
way to make a really good side income
you know it was a great side hustle for
them and i learned that there were even
people who were making a full-time
income selling clothing on poshmark and
now that i've been doing it for
a little over three years now that i
have made thousands upon
thousands of dollars of profit from
selling on poshmark i thought i would
share some of my
best poshmark tips with you when it
comes to selling on
poshmark so like i said we're going to
do them in the form of do's and don'ts
if you enjoy these kinds of tips and
tricks videos especially when it comes
to poshmark or a variety of other
reselling platforms
if you enjoy what sold videos if you
enjoy seeing what kinds of items i
picked up at thrift stores and
consignment stores
to sell on reselling platforms like
poshmark definitely make sure that you
hit that subscribe button because i do
upload at least two videos a week
surrounding this
topic and if you're excited to learn
these tips then hit that like button
my first do is to stock your poshmark
closet with
trendy items and with brands that are
really popular right now
if you want a quick flip if you want
those items to sell
quickly for you if you don't really know
what's on trend if you don't know what
brands are hot right now
i suggest looking at the items that have
sold recently on poshmark you can just
go right onto the app
and filter by items that have recently
sold and you can start paying attention
to which brands
pop up frequently poshmark will also
release a list of
you know the most popular brands from
time to time on their blog so that's a
great place to go as well
i would also try reading you know
fashion magazines like in style
vogue l and seeing what kinds of brands
pop up often there
i would follow fashion bloggers on
instagram and other fashion accounts and
just kind of paying attention to what
celebrities are wearing
because those are brands that are hot
and finally you know watch somewhat sold
videos
on youtube from different reselling
youtube content creators because they'll
share with you what brands are selling
for them
and the more of those kinds of videos
you watch the more like i said you'll
start hearing the same brand names over
and over again
and you'll be able to hear which brands
sell for the most like i said i do a
whatsoever every week
and a lot of my favorite youtubers out
there do the same so
that's another great resource when it
comes to learning what kinds of brands
and trends are selling quickly
right now on the flip side my first
don't would be
don't list things that are out of season
not trendy anymore
and brands that you know don't retail
for a good amount
at the end of the day you can list
whatever you want on poshmark right but
i'm talking about if you want to see
some quick flips and if you want to
actually make some good money
so if you have that banana republic
piece at home that you used to wear 15
years ago
and it's got a few holes in it and a
stain from the last time you ate
spaghetti
personally i don't think it's worth
listing might someone come along and
purchase it at some point in your life
maybe but it probably isn't going to be
worth the amount that you sell it for
and it's probably going to take a while
for that item to sell
if you have items that are just not very
trendy
if you have items that you purchased at
walmart or target years ago
or you know more mature brands perhaps
you would actually make more money you
know selling those items at a garage
sale
or taking them to a local consignment
store but chances are
not very many people are going to be
interested in that item if you listen on
poshmark
my second tip and this also has to do
with listing is to try to list as
frequently as possible
so what i mean by that is let's say you
marie condo your entire closet
hello i'm maria and you find 50 items
that you no longer wear
they're still kind of trendy they're
still made by great brands
but you just don't really wear them what
i would advise is rather than listing
those 50 items all in one day
and tuckering yourself out and being
like oh my god this is so hard
i would personally take those 50 items
and maybe
list you know two to five items a day
until you run out and the reason for
that is because
poshmark does like to see consistency
from its sellers when it comes to
listing
and it shows active engagement and
activity on their app if you are
on there you know every day for 10 15
days it shows that you are actively
listing new items and that helps trigger
the poshmark algorithm
versus if you list all 50 items in one
day and then don't really
do anything else for the next month or
two until you find more things that you
want to list
so i would advise you to spread out your
listings and do them as frequently and
consistently as possible
so obviously my coinciding don't to that
do would be
don't just list a bunch of things at
once and then leave poshmark alone and
assume that you know if you just give it
two or three weeks
all those items will sell through that's
generally not how it works it's not a
list it and forget it type of
platform but you really do have to show
daily engagement and activity
and one way to do that is to spread out
your listing so that you are listing a
few things every day versus
a ton of things at one time my next do
is
do research keywords when you are
creating your listings
utilize every single character that's
available to you when it comes to your
poshmark listing title and make sure
that you're using
keywords that people are actually typing
into the poshmark search bar on the flip
side
don't use really simple and kind of
meaningless listing titles like
cute dress or pants too small for me
like no one is searching for pants too
small for me
in the poshmark search bar instead let's
say you're selling
i okay this literally sold for me so i'm
just gonna show you these
i have to ship these out these are a
pair of american girl doll
uh penguin slippers so i would write
american girl penguin plush slip
on house shoes slippers i may have too
many characters there but it definitely
gives
a really great idea of what i'm selling
and if anyone is searching american girl
this will probably pop
up if anyone is searching slippers this
will probably
pop up if anyone is searching penguin
plush this will probably pop
up as a result once they hit enter after
typing that into the search bar
and so there are so many different ways
that someone could come across this pair
of penguin slippers
by american girl simply because of the
fact that i have great keywords in my
listing title
um other things that you can include in
your listing title are like the color so
if i had room in the listing title i
would include the word black
you can include the size so i would say
size large those are all different
things that you can include and once you
start thinking about okay
what are different ways that someone
would find this by typing different
words
into the poshmark search bar chances are
you're going to have too
long of a title which is a great problem
to have you just take out things like
the color and the size and whatnot
one of the reasons why this is so
important is because if you have great
seo
search engine optimization then one
thing that can happen
is guest buyers can find your listing
not even because they're on poshmark but
because they're just searching for
something in particular in
google and they may see your item your
penguin slippers from american girl
pop up as a search result and even
though it's a poshmark listing
they can actually make the purchase
through google as a guest buyer
i have had many full price sales because
of the fact that people
found my poshmark listings through
google they didn't even sign up for a
poshmark account but they
just paid me outright for the price that
i asked for that particular item and the
reason for it was because
i had great keywords in my listing title
and in my description
don't skimp out on the description
section either and because i had great
pictures
which takes us to my next tip which is
do take the best pictures that you can
they don't need to be professional grade
you don't need to go out and buy a
camera or anything like that just your
phone will suffice but you want to have
a nice clean background you want to
show the item in its best light and you
want to show
you know as many aspects of the piece as
you can so for example for this pair of
slippers
i'll show you what my cover photo looked
like and then you'll also see that there
are pictures of
you know the front and the back and what
the soul looks like
and of the tags and of the size by the
time someone is done looking at all of
your pictures and reading your
description
they shouldn't have any more questions
about your listing it should tell a
complete story
of what it is that you're selling and by
creating that thorough of a listing and
having
pictures that clear it will help your
listing stand out amongst all other
listings and
give your buyer confidence in what it is
that they're about to purchase
on the other hand i don't want you to
lose sleep over
your pictures i know for a lot of people
it's actually the pictures that get in
the way
of them getting a lot of listings done
because they're like my pictures aren't
perfect
the lighting isn't perfect there's stuff
in my background some of these other
poshmark closets you know the people are
modeling their items and i'm not
modeling mine
a lot of people let their expectations
that are honestly way too high
get in the way of their productivity and
so what i would say is
done is better than perfect just take
your pictures if you want to edit them a
little i do have a really great video on
how i use the photo editing app
photo room and what that allows me to do
is if there is anything in the
background that i don't want there like
if you can see a part of my couch
it'll just get rid of all that stuff if
you want a crisp white background it can
create that for you
and i will link that video right here
but that's only one of like a bajillion
other apps that exist to help make your
photos look better than they are and
even if you just use
your camera's editing tools for your
photos you can brighten the exposure you
can do a lot of different things to
maybe make your pictures look a lot
better
than when you just took the picture
pictures don't need to be perfect they
just need to do a good job of showing
what is for sale
the next do that i have for you is you
should
inflate your prices just a little bit
there is a culture on poshmark of
hitting that
offer button and you know people
offering you what they believe is a fair
price for that item
versus what you have it listed for so
for that reason i like to leave a little
bit of wiggle room in the way that i
price so that if someone does send me an
offer i can either accept because it's
reasonable you know they're asking for
maybe 10 20
off of what i have it listed for and it
also leaves me room to participate in
poshmark's promotions like offers to
likers and closet clear out
those are a couple different promotions
that they do where you can send offers
to people who have liked your items or
you can drop the price of items on your
listings
to entice people to purchase those items
because they come with discounted
shipping
and in order to be able to drop your
prices you have to have your prices
marked up just a little bit so that
you're still going to make a profit once
the transaction goes through
now my don't when it comes to pricing
your listings is don't
undersell your items i know when i first
started on poshmark and i was selling my
own clothing
i think because it was mine and because
i knew how often i had worn them i was
like no one's gonna pay more than ten
dollars for this
and i feel like i priced my stuff really
low when i first started
i think there are some people who also
do the exact opposite and there's so
much nostalgia wrapped into a particular
dress or a pair of heels like perhaps
you know someone is looking to list a
pair of heels that they wore on their
wedding day and they're like
well this is worth ten thousand dollars
like how could i list it for anything
less
but the truth of the matter is no one
else in the world cares that you wore
this on your wedding
your memories of that day don't mean
anything to anyone else but you and so
when it comes to listing your items you
don't want to undersell yourself you
don't want to price them too low but you
also don't want to price them too high
i would recommend that you look at the
comps comparable sold listings and see
what kinds of prices people were able to
get for the same
item or for items that are similar to
the one that you're listing and once you
figure out what that price is you know
just mark it up a little bit more like
by 10 to 20
that way when you do send offers to
people or when you drop the price or
when
people send reasonable offers your way
they feel like they're getting a deal
and at the end of the day when people
are buying used especially
and when people are on platforms like
poshmark they want to feel like they got
a good deal
and that's one way that you can give
them a good deal without you know
sacrificing the amount of profit that
you're gonna make on an item
my next do for you is do share your
closet
but don't share it yourself so one of
the most annoying things about poshmark
is that in order for people to really
see your listings especially if they are
a little bit older maybe they've been
listed for a month or two
you have to keep sharing your listings
so that they appear at the top of the
search results when someone is searching
for something that has to do with your
item so
for example if someone is searching for
american girl slippers
if i listed mine two months ago and i
don't share it since the time that i
list the item then every other listing
that has anything to do with american
girl slippers
are gonna be shown before mine and
chances are someone is gonna find
something that they want before they
stumble across
my listing so i would say most people
who are serious poshmark sellers
share their listings every single day
and sometimes even multiple times a day
i personally have around 840 active
listings right now and in order for me
to share my poshmark closet you know
share all the listings
that i have for sale the old-fashioned
way it would take me
probably close to an hour and that is
not something that i want to give up an
hour of my day to do every single day
that's why i'm saying although you do
need to share your closet
don't do it yourself there are a ton of
other ways you can do this
i know poshmark just came out with a
bulk sharing tool where
you can just share all of your items at
once there are a bunch of other
like chrome extensions or apps or
different things that you can purchase
to use to help you do this much faster
i know that there are a lot of poshmark
sellers who now just use bots to just
share their items much quicker
i personally use a va a virtual
assistant and it's just someone who
shares my closet for me and i do pay
them to do it which is such a ridiculous
thing to have to pay someone to do
but i would much rather do that than to
spend more than an hour a day if i want
to share my closet more than once a day
i would rather pay someone than share
myself my next do
for you is do turn on poshmark
notifications
i know that it's so annoying to get a
bunch of bloop
bloop you know from your phone every
time someone does something on poshmark
but the reason why you
don't want to turn off your poshmark
notifications is because
you might miss some important
notifications my sister-in-law for
example
she sells on poshmark very casually like
it's not something that
you know she invests a lot of time or
energy into she'll kind of go on like a
listing rampage one day and then forget
to check her out for like two or three
months and she'll realize
oh my gosh like three things actually
sold but i never saw that they sold
and so poshmark canceled the sale for me
so you don't want to put yourself in the
situation where
because you've turned off all
notifications from poshmark now you're
just not even seeing when people are
sending you offers or possibly even
buying things from you
the happy medium i would say is you can
actually go into poshmark
and select which notifications you would
like to receive
i no longer receive notifications when
you know someone follows me
i only receive notifications if someone
makes an offer on an item or
you know leaves a comment on an item
because typically that's a question that
they're asking
about the listing itself so i have
definitely pared down the amount of
listings that i get from poshmark
because it can be overwhelming
but i would not turn them off completely
my next do
is do be proactive about making sales
happen
like i mentioned earlier do take part in
the different promotions that poshmark
has
like closet clear out offers to likers
those sort of things because
that is another way to trigger the
algorithm in your favor by showing
poshmark that you're willing to kind of
play their game the way that they have
it set up for you
you know one example of how i do this is
if i see that someone has come into my
closet and they've
liked a couple items rather than sending
them offers on each individual item
i will actually create a bundle for them
of the items that they have liked and i
will send them a personalized message
saying hey i saw that you liked a couple
items so i'm going to go ahead and send
you an offer with a discount
i think because of the fact that i've
reached out to them and
actually messaged them a personal
message that coupled with hopefully what
they perceive to be a really great
deal with discounted shipping sometimes
that results in a sale i actually
just got a notification probably an hour
ago that i made a sale exactly that way
someone had liked a girl zaro skirt and
a pair of women's shoes and so i put
them in a bundle sent her a personalized
message with an offer and discounted
shipping
and she accepted so that's one way that
you can be
proactive about making sales happen and
if you want to learn more about how to
utilize bundles within poshmark i will
link that video right here
but i do think that it works in your
favor to be proactive
when it comes to making sales happen on
the flip side you
don't want to be spammy you don't want
to randomly just go to people's accounts
or
you know closets and beg them to come
shop your closet
you don't want to go to someone's
listing
and say hey i'm selling the same thing
for 10 less
you don't want to go to someone's closet
and create a bundle for them
and just start sending them random
articles of clothing from your own
closet that
they didn't ask you for these are all
things that have actually happened to me
i am not making this up
and i'm here to tell you that they are
not good ways to make sales
be proactive but don't be spammy my next
tip is do ship your items out as quickly
as humanly possible
this is another one of those things that
the poshmark algorithm just really likes
is when you are
able to ship out quickly because the
quicker you ship out an item
the happier your customer is going to be
you know we live in the age of
amazon two day shipping and we're just
used to getting things quickly
even though you have i think it's like a
seven day window with poshmark to ship
items out
once you start getting past that three
or four day window
poshmark starts sending you like really
annoying messages like hey
are you planning on shipping this out
please let us know because they want to
make sure that the buyer
has a good experience and continues to
use poshmark so my don't that goes along
with this tip would be don't wait
until the last possible minute to ship
your items out yes you have a pretty big
window
but don't use all of it just try to get
that item shipped out as quickly as
possible
my next tip is do communicate with your
buyers for example a couple weeks ago i
was on vacation
and because i knew that i would return
before that you know window closed for
me to ship items out
what i did was if someone did make a
purchase while i was on vacation i let
them know
hey just so you know i am out of town
for a few days but i will be able to
ship this item
out on this date and because i
communicated with them ahead of time
they were all like oh that's totally
fine
and that's better than just shipping it
out later than
probably what they would like with no
explanation at all the same goes for you
know every once in a while someone will
buy something from me
and i'll pull the item and as i'm
getting ready to ship it i realize that
there's a flaw
that i didn't notice when i was
photographing the item again
instead of just canceling the item
outright and kind of ghosting
the buyer what i do is i reach out to
the buyer and i let them know what the
situation is
i'll let them know hey i'm so sorry but
i noticed that there's a hole in the
sleeve of the shirt
and that flaw was not disclosed in the
listing you know here are a few
options i can obviously just cancel the
transaction and you'll get a refund or
perhaps there's something else in my
closet that you would like to swap it
out with
communication is key owning up to your
mistakes and giving the buyer
plenty of options to choose from as far
as how you're going to make this right
for them
all of that is really important and
definitely better than
the don't that accompanies this tip
which is don't leave your buyers in the
dark if you have to cancel
a listing perhaps you can't find it
perhaps there's a huge flaw
don't just cancel it and not tell them
what happened reach out to them and say
i'm so sorry i cannot locate this item
so i'm going to be canceling the
transaction and you will receive a full
refund
you just want to communicate the best
that you can and you never know that
person even though you weren't able to
follow through with that particular item
they might come back because it was
still a pleasant experience working with
you
my next tip is do show daily engagement
on poshmark we talked about this earlier
you know when it comes to sharing your
listings when it comes to listing
frequently and consistently
you do want to show daily activity on
poshmark because that's one way of
showing poshmark that
you are active on the app and you are
out here trying to make some sales
however on the flip side don't just
waste time
mindlessly scrolling through poshmark
the honest to god truth is that that's
what they
want they want you just scrolling
through your feed they want you just
kind of going through people's closets
and shopping
they want you on the app listing and
sharing your closet because they know
that
all of that hopefully will lead to more
sales and the more sales are being made
on poshmark
the more money poshmark makes too so
although that's what they want
you don't want to do that because that
is time that can be better spent
doing things that are actually going to
make you money like you know listing new
items
but don't waste your time just
mindlessly scrolling through the app
because that's not going to ultimately
help you sell
you know whatever listings you have
listed on the app in the first place
so if you find that you do waste a lot
of time just like mindlessly scrolling
through the app perhaps you can set
a timer for yourself you know just find
a way to remind yourself
this is not a good use of my time and
finally my last tip for you is
do try out poshmark again it was my
first reselling platform and i still
love it to this day that being said
maybe you'll try it out and you'll
realize it just isn't for me and if
that's the case
then don't be afraid to try out other
reselling platforms
while i do love poshmark it does take a
lot of work it is a better fit i think
for people who are selling more trendier
pieces and more like popular hot brands
you know things that you'll see
on fashion blogs things that you'll see
in fashion magazines
the kind of clothes that celebrities are
wearing if the majority of what you're
selling doesn't really fall in line with
that you might find that it's a little
bit harder to make sales
i have sold what feels like every brand
under the sun on poshmark
i have sold the trendy brands that you
see on you know websites like revolve
and
you know all the anthropology house
brands and whatnot i've sold all those
and i've also sold brands like chicos
and talbots and
izod and eddie bauer you know the less
sexy brands if you will
you know the more mature brands but that
being said i do
find that the trendier pieces and the
trendier brands
sell much quicker and for more money on
poshmark
than some of these other brands that i
just mentioned so if you're trying out
poshmark and either it just feels like
too much work for you
with all the sharing that you have to do
if it feels like your brands just are
not gaining any traction
if you want to sell other items other
than clothing then there are so many
other reselling platforms you can try
out you can try out reselling platforms
like ebay mercari facebook marketplace
kit is in if you're selling a lot of
kids clothes these are all other places
that i have also experienced some
success
and you can also list you know the same
item on a bunch of different platforms
just to get as many eyes on
as possible and for me i use a cross
listing tool to help me do that much
faster
called this perfectly so these are all
of my tips when it comes to poshmark
all of my do's and don'ts i do hope that
you found it useful
in terms of helping you make more sales
and more money on poshmark

left out then please leave it down below
