i love when i can get beautiful home
decor that is also affordable and
because you clicked on this video i'm
going to assume that you do too now some
of my favorite items as well as my most
asked about home decor pieces all come
from hobby lobby and you can get some
amazing high-end items for cheap as long
as you know how to shop and where to
look when you're in their store so come
along with me today i'm sharing all of
my secrets and my tips and tricks so you
can score big at hobby lobby
this is whiskey and what my name's
whitney and on this channel i love to
share diy and budget home decor content
so if you love that too be sure to hit
subscribe down below so we can be craft
buddies and before you even step foot in
the door the first thing you need to
know is when to shop
i use their weekly ad as my shopping
guide it's going to tell you which
categories are on sale that week and
those prices are going to run from
sunday to saturday if you shop online
you can take advantage of new weekly ads
on sunday but in store you'll have to
wait until monday because for all of my
friends that are new to hoblob they are
closed on sundays
my favorite times to shop are weekday
mornings and saturday nights that's when
the stores are the slowest so let's chat
about hobby lobby sales if you take
literally one thing away from this
entire video it is please please please
do not pay full price for something at
hobby lobby they have a frequent sales
schedule everything goes on sale ranging
from 40 to 90 off you can save a ton if
you know how to shop smart my first
friendly psa is to make sure you read
the fine print on those red and white
sales signs it is seriously the worst to
get excited fill your cart skip to the
checkout only to find out that the item
is full price because it's excluded also
check the tag so for example the table
decor was on sale when i went to hobby
lobby this day and i found this woven
tray i thought it might be considered
table decor and i know i can be certain
by checking the sticker or the tag for
the description so i just flip it over
and see right there it says wall decor
right at the top so it's not on sale
right now and knowing that has saved me
a ton of headaches taking stuff up
because it was near a sign and it's
actually not on sale also something
you'll see in fine print is that hobby
lobby's furniture books wearable art and
custom framing is always on sale
so really it's not on sale now that
doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a
good deal you just want to be aware of
that so that you don't get pressured
into an impulse buy because it will be
that price when you return so let's hop
into some of my favorite craft supplies
and my favorite section of the entire
store is their unfinished wood items
most of my signs blanks and wood pieces
that you see me use here on whiskey and
wet are from hobby lobby so the
unfinished wood section is my hands down
favorite the sub brand is called wood
pile and they have all wood they've got
acrylic they've got wood enamel mixed
options for any project you're doing
large or small now i love getting wood
slices here for christmas and also my
all-time favorite mini rolling pins that
you guys have seen me use in countless
videos you can also find metal and glass
blanks near the wood items and i've used
these in tons of videos too i personally
love this watering can it easily takes
vinyl and there are a ton of other
options to easily customize and diy
the metal table decor across the store
by the baskets and shelves is also a
great place to shop i've used these for
a ton of projects this milk jug may look
familiar from a recent qriket video and
made a quick personalized decor piece
that is great for a gift it's under 20
bucks including the vinyl if you get it
on sale
hobby lobby has a massive faux floral
section and while i'm a huge fan of
walmart greenery i also do love hobby
lobby's selection i wanted to find an
olive branch and this was perfect i also
really liked this greenery pick for
another vase i had at home so i picked
that up as well i really love their
greenery garlands and you can usually
always get them on sale if you can't
find what you're looking for also be
sure to check the wedding section for
florals and garlands these eucalyptus
and lambsier ones are only ten dollars
because of the wedding sale and lots of
trendy florals are also big in the
wedding space right now so you can find
a ton of options that you can just use
in your home there too filler florals
and wreaths are also worth a look and
their seasonal florals are really fun to
swap out for everyday greenery for a fun
and festive look now while you're in the
florals be sure to scope out their
planters this is where you'll find some
larger options compared to the regular
vases and you'll get a variety of colors
shapes textures to fit a ton of
different styles now i fell in love with
this particular one and i knew it had to
come home with me to be styled with that
olive branch seriously it is as easy as
grabbing your vase and your greenery
popping it right in and you're good to
go here i styled it with a hobby lobby
tray i picked up as well some amber
glass and some wood measuring cups from
the spring shop that i got for half off
the fabric section and their prints are
so cute and very affordable because
those also go on sale they have a great
selection of neutral and modern patterns
as well as fun characters and seasonal
options and also don't forget to peek in
the clearance fabric i have found so
many gems in there too i got this
ticking stripe fabric that i used on my
thrifted rocking chair for like three
bucks it was awesome now also while i'm
over in the fabric section i have to
check out the ribbon so many cute
options here for diys my favorite has to
be this large burlap ribbon i like the
traditional brown but they also have a
ton of other colors as well as gingham's
different buffalo checks and my hobby
lobby usually has their ribbon like all
over the store so you can look at end
caps also in the seasonal sections and
then in the fabric section seasonal
ribbon when the seasonal stuff is on
sale is an awesome buy as well
especially if it is going on clearance
the 66 the 75 the 90 off that's when you
want to grab that ribbon especially the
burlap it is a huge savings
i always have to scope out the photo
frame section when i'm there these barn
wood ones are my favorite right now they
are perfect for my printables and they
look like i hand-made them i even had
some people ask if i hand-made them
they'd be really hard to make but you
could totally pass them off like you did
and if that's not your style they also
have more lighter tones some more
coastal vibes some or modern vibes so
there's a ton with beautiful detail that
you can choose from card stock is
another must buy their seasonal and
beautiful watercolors are awesome
they're 69 cents a sheet regular price
but it does go on sale and you can also
grab a solid color to help mat a photo
or artwork in those frames
now the textiles and jewelry section in
the back are relatively new finds for me
i've been going to hobby lobby for years
but this section i didn't really
frequent and i wish i would have went
there sooner if you don't have a vinyl
cutter these iron-on letters are amazing
they come in a ton of different fonts
and colors and you just need an iron to
apply them they have a ton of fun
iron-on patches too like initials images
bedazzled shapes and phrases and i had
to grab this lightning mcqueen one for
finn and these stoney clover lane dupes
for me these varsity letters are
everywhere right now
now in that same section you can also
find tons of blank shirts hats shoes
pillow covers bags and more to customize
with your new patches or with your
cricut or just with some paint another
non-cricut hack can be found in their
paint aisle with their stencils they
have a ton of different options with
cute designs if you want to stencil
something these would be great for a
patio or if you're doing your tile with
a stencil and they're really affordable
the jewelry charms also make for easy
diy earrings like these rainbows and
donuts i just grabbed a bag of earring
hooks in the same section i used pliers
and popped them on and then just
squeezed it back together to make sure
it stayed it's so easy cute and
personalized they would make great gifts
tons of different options you can also
find pre-made jewelry in hobby lobby if
you don't want to go the diy route
my favorite pair from my recent shopping
trip are these that i am wearing today i
absolutely love the gold and the tassels
and they're not too heavy they're not
pulling down on my ears now you've got
to go down to the comments and let me
know did you know that hobby lobby sells
jewelry you don't have to diy super easy
just pop them in and go over the past
few years i've really fallen in love
with hobby lobby's hardware aisle that
includes hooks drawer pulls outlet plate
covers and other hardware they are solid
quality and they're a bit more stylized
than what you're gonna find at a
hardware store like this hook how cute
is it and it's got a ton of character
hobby lobby does offer a 14 day price
adjustment policy so to take advantage
of that you need to take the item and
the receipt back to the store and then
they will price adjust for you now
really the only time i've done a price
adjustment is with the table and wall
decor they switch off every other week
being 50 off so if i need something in
the non-sale category i'll take it back
the next week to get a price adjustment
it's worth it in the savings my favorite
home decor aisles and the items to check
out are pillow covers rugs tiered trays
and the baskets with the toddler the
fabric baskets are awesome for toys
stuffed animals and overall storage
their rugs are cute and affordable and
they stand up to my toddler and dog the
pillow covers are super on trend and
they're a great price at the 50 off
discount and their tiered trays when
bought on sale are a really good deal
you can get the trays in the spring shop
too which is a great thing because you
can buy them when they go 66
off
wandering the aisles and displays of the
home decor in the front is a definite
favorite of mine that is where i found
these awesome books i recently saw an
awesome hack on tiktok from our comfy
cozy corner and i'll link her video down
below she got these books and she used
them to hide things like remotes and
chargers
how cute would these be for a nightstand
i found three books i liked that would
go together and i love how it looks
something i usually steer clear of
unless it's on extreme clearance are the
lamps and you can just find similar ones
for a better price at walmart now let's
talk about seasonal and clearance at
hobby lobby and how to get the most bang
for your buck now something to keep in
mind when you're shopping hobby lobby
that if you go too hard on the items
with all the wording it can get tacky
really quickly so i suggest having a few
things with words or sayings with great
meanings and then you can fill in with
artwork or interesting neutrals to
create a beautiful vignette seasonal
offerings at hobby lobby hit the shelves
early like i'm talking christmas is out
right now in june so it's important to
know that everything will start at full
price and it will eventually go on sale
the first drop is usually to 40 off then
they do 50 66 75 and 90 off the things
that are left so keep that in mind when
you're shopping and unless you can't
leave without a particular seasonal item
i would wait until it goes on sale the
seasonal section is also great for last
minute shopping typically places like
target walmart michaels etc discount
their seasonal stuff after the holiday
but hobby lobby and my experience does
that a week before the holiday so that's
cool because i've been able to get
christmas entertaining wrapping and
decor items for 66 off the week of
christmas and use them the same year
when it's everyday items going on sale
they'll first sticker them in the aisle
to try to sell them down before they
have to move all that stuff to the
clearance aisle so it pays to be
eagle-eyed for those throughout the
store then you're also going to want to
check the designated clearance sections
typically folks go to the aisle with the
big sign but don't forget the smaller
ones they're usually clear in sections
in the back two corners and off the
fabric in a sewing section that's where
you can find some awesome scores because
most folks just don't look there
and when i'm in the clearance section i
am looking for sides with pretty frames
that i can make over
or block signs that i can put paint on
the front it's super easy to paint and
then add a decal for a new look and i
love that the hooks are already in the
back so it is ready to go you just paint
and add a decal and
we're good to go i also keep an eye out
for unique frames that will fit my
printables i love fun glass vases and
cups and also smaller interesting pieces
that also bring some functionality i
loved this recipe box for under five
dollars i loved this vase print for
under 13 and this glass framed art piece
was 9.99 now the seasonal sections are a
great place for everyday items too i've
shared this before but the best time to
shop seasonal that isn't truly seasonal
is when they have the spring shop go on
sale and the fall seasonal sale heading
into christmas their wood decor is my
absolute favorite and if you know when
to shop you can get it at an amazing
price so the spring shop is currently on
sale right now for 50 off and it will go
to 66 off sometime in august some items
to keep an eye out for especially when
it drops to 66 percent off are these
white-washed wood pieces food storage
containers glass jars woven placemats
trays
rugs table runners and this entire
section of wood pieces like cutting
boards spoons utensils and more i
absolutely love this dark wood and these
cutting boards and trays make awesome
starters for vignettes the wood
coordinates and complements the vase and
greenery
i love to throw parties and entertain
and hobby lobby is usually my first stop
for party decor not only for the
seasonal pieces but i also like their
legit party supplies like hats and cups
and plates and all that stuff i shop a
mix of their home decor as well as the
party specific stuff to create a curated
look at parties and if you're interested
in learning more about that be sure to
check out my lemon bridal shower video
as well as my diy car's birthday party
that i did this spring for finn now if
you are getting married or you know
somebody that is the wedding section is
definitely a great place to check out
for the ceremony but then also the
bridal shower and the bachelorette
parties they've got signage with a ton
of acrylic options which is super duper
trendy right now and they have other
rustic options their metal easels which
are usually in the front come in two
sizes and they are a staple at my
parties i originally bought it for our
wedding five years ago and they have
held up for multiple parties that is
gonna do it for this installment of the
whitney's shopping secrets series let me
know down in the comments if you learned
something today and what your favorite
hobby lobby items are i would love to
hear from you
