in today's video I'm going to go through
a lot of the basic things that you need
to know if you want to start selling on
eBay in 2023 and Beyond the things that
I'm going to go through allowed me to
build a seven figure e-commerce business
using the platform of eBay to the point
where I was able to quit my full-time
job travel the world to various
different locations while still being
able to make an income from my eBay
business even on holiday so you need to
make sure that you watch this whole
video from start to finish so that you
don't miss anything that could
potentially change your life and as
always I don't waste any more time I
want to get right into it if you find
any value in this video at any point
don't forget to press the like button I
really appreciate that thank you so much
in advance don't forget to subscribe hit
the Bell notification let's get right
into the video alright so first things
first why should you even sell on eBay
what's the plan and is it something that
you should even do now right here in
front of me I've got the pros and cons
that I've personally seen when it comes
to selling on eBay that you guys need to
be aware of before you get into it so
that you know exactly what you're
getting yourself into so starting off
with one of the first cons which is that
some startup money is going to be needed
now in terms of the amount that you need
it all depends on which type of business
that you're looking to build what type
of items you're to sell but I would say
that you should budget at least five
hundred dollars to around one thousand
dollars if you do have a spare one
thousand dollars for you to put into
your eBay business then this is
definitely enough for you to kind of get
things slowly moving so that you can get
to the point of potentially turning that
one thousand dollars into ten thousand
dollars fifteen thousand dollars so on
and so forth one of the next coins that
I personally noticed is that you're
gonna have to follow a lot of eBay's
rules and regulations so because you're
not going to be selling on your own
website like what you would do if you
was to start a Shopify store you have to
expect that you're going to have to
follow a lot of eBay's rules and
regulations because the key thing that
you need to remember is that eBay is
their own business with their own
revenue and profit targets and if you do
anything wrong or you do something to
affect their revenue or their profit
instantly they're going to have a brand
new restrict you or just completely kick
you off the platform and this is
something that I've had to learn the
hard way over the past 10 years of me
building very different eBay businesses
as soon as I've done something that I
didn't realize was against eBay's
policies they restricted me for a
certain amount of time so you need to
make sure that you spend time to go
through all of eBay's policies so that
you fully understand what you shouldn't
do and what you can do and the final
content I'm going to speak about in this
video is that you have to expect to go
through General issues when running any
physical product business like for
example dealing with customer service
faulty returns customers trying to scam
you just damaged items in general
there's so many different issues that
you're going to have to go through when
it comes to running any physical product
business and this relates to any
platform whether it's Amazon FBA Drop
Shipping whatever the case is if you're
selling physical products to a stranger
on the internet you're always going to
have to expect one issue or another
however there are some pros when it
comes to selling on eBay like for
example it's a great way for you to get
free traffic to your products so for
example when it comes to building your
own website you're going to have to
figure out exactly how you're going to
get people onto your website in the
first place and with that you're going
to have to either use some sort of paid
ads or you're gonna have to spend time
creating content on Instagram and Tick
Tock for people to be aware that your
products even exist however if you're
able to master the art of eBay SEO which
is eBay search engine optimization
you're going to be able to list the
product today and most likely start
generating sales in the next couple days
and one of the next Pros that I've
personally noticed with my own eBay
business is listings can make you money
years later and what I mean by this is
that products that I listed let's say
four or five years ago are still
generating me sales consistently every
single day up until now as long as you
made sure to initially list an evergreen
product that you know people are
searching for consistently and you've
also tried to maintain a healthy eBay
account there's no reason why you're not
going to be able to make sales over the
foreseeable future which now brings me
on to one of the final polls which is
that selling on eBay is a very simple
process all it comes down to is signing
up to eBay making sure that you've built
your feedback score and your sudden
limit you've made sure to list your
products using eBay SEO and you've also
made sure to Brand your store around a
particular category so that whenever a
potential customer lands on your store
they're more likely to buy from you
because they can see that you're focused
within one particular Niche rather than
trying to sell a whole bunch of
different products from a whole bunch of
different categories alright so moving
on to the second thing that you guys
need to be aware of if you're a complete
beginner and you're looking to build a
successful eBay business which is that
you need to understand exactly what a
winning product is and the different
characteristics of it so you know
exactly what to look out for and I've
broken down six different
characteristics right here in front of
me let's start with the first one which
is that you want to make sure that
customers don't just want it but they
need it going back to what I said
earlier when I said that people are
still buying products that are listed
four or five years ago reason being is
because I've made sure that they're
items that people definitely need for
them to continue their day-to-day life
in a normal way you don't want to focus
on products that might be trending for
the moment or people don't really need
because you're not going to be able to
make money over the long term so if
you're able to find an item that people
need and they don't just want it that's
when you know that you're on track to
finding a winning product the second
thing that you want to look out for is
whether or not it's higher ticket now
when I say higher ticket I'm not saying
that you need to make sure that the item
is selling for 200 300 you want to make
sure that the item is selling for let's
say 30 minimum maybe twenty five dollars
and I know that this isn't necessarily a
high ticket but one of the most common
mistakes that I see so many beginners
making is that they focus on trying to
sell items that are around two dollars
maybe three dollars but the reason why
this is a mistake is because number one
you're not going to be able to make any
profit number two all you're doing is
wasting your time when it comes to
shipping these orders out number three
you're wasting even more time when it
comes to dealing with customer service
for these products so what I personally
like to do is sell items around the 25
maybe 30 price point because if I'm
doing that every day let's say I'm
making around 20 sales per day I'm gonna
be able to make a decent amount of
profit of all of those different orders
moving on to the third characteristic of
a winning eBay product which is that you
want to make sure that it's also selling
well on other platforms so whenever it
comes to me selling a brand new product
I like to make sure that there's other
people selling a similar item on their
own website whether they're using
Shopify or whatever the case is and I
also want to make sure that the product
is selling well on Amazon reason being
is because it's going to number one
prove the concept that people actually
want the product but number two it also
gives me the opportunity to know that I
can generate an additional stream of
income from that product if I also
wanted to sell it on a Shopify website
and on Amazon because you have to
remember that the goal of selling on
eBay isn't to build an eBay business but
to use eBay to build your e-commerce
business the fourth thing that you need
to look out for is whether or not the
product is small and lightweight and the
main reason for this is because you're
going to be able to save so much money
on Postage and one thing that I've
learned about running any physical
product business specifically in eBay
business is that you need to make sure
that you're cutting your cost at every
opportunity and one of the best ways
that you can cut your cost is by setting
an item that is higher ticket but also
is small and that way because when it
comes to you now shipping orders out
every single day again you're going to
be able to save money on postage second
to that when customers want to return
the item for whatever reason let's say
they just change their mind or let's say
you sent out the wrong product it's
going to be cheap for you to now pay for
postage for that customer to send it
back to you going through all of that
every now and then with various
different customers is going to eat into
your bottom line and at the end of the
year you're going to be left with no
profit so for me personally I like to
make sure that I focus on selling small
and lightweight items so that I can
ultimately reduce my expenses so that at
the end of the year I've got a lot more
profit left over alright so moving on to
the next thing that you guys need to be
aware of once you've got an
understanding of what a winning product
actually is which is what type of
supplier should you be using now when I
say supplier this is obviously the
person that's going to provide you with
the products for you to sell in the
first place and when I first started
selling on eBay many years ago I was
completely confused about which supplier
should I use should I try and find a
supplier based in China or should I
focus on finding a loan local supplier
in the UK where I'm based and I didn't
really understand which was best for the
long term and that's the reason why I've
broken down one main Pro one main con
for using a Chinese supplier and a local
supplier and starting off with one of
the pros of using a Chinese supplier
which is that you're going to pay a
lower cost per unit and there's a lot
more products available for you to sell
and when I say lower cost per unit what
this means is that let's say for example
you're going to buy around 20 pieces of
a particular product for you to sell the
amount that you're going to have to pay
for each individual product that you're
buying from that supplier is going to be
a lot less than what you would have to
pay if you was using a supplier based in
the US or the UK or Canada etc etc so
that's definitely one of the main Pros
when it comes to importing products from
China however one of the main cons is
that it can take weeks maybe months for
your products to arrive so there's two
main ways that you can import products
on channel you can either do it using
ever playing or you can do it using C3
an airplane for me normally takes around
two to three weeks for the products to
leave China and arrive at my front door
and using C3 can only take up to one
month maybe two months and for me
personally I like to use airplane
because it's a lot more quicker and a
lot more question but as I already said
it's still going to take a couple weeks
for your items to arrive however when it
comes to using a local supplier one of
the main Pros is that it's going to be a
lot more easy for you to restock if you
notice one of your items are running low
and you quickly need to replenish the
stock you're going to be able to drive
to your local supplier and easily buy
the items there and then and the reason
why this is a pro is because one of the
main things that you need to make sure
that you do from the start of your eBay
journey to the end of your eBay journey
is to never run out of stock for an item
that's selling well because all that's
going to happen is that eBay is going to
push your listing further and further
down in the search results for as long
as you don't have the item available for
customers to buy and that's why it's
very important that if you are going to
go down the route of using a Chinese
supplier you just make sure that you're
efficient when it comes to your stock
management and then you order the stock
in time so that you never have to make a
product unavailable for a customer to
buy so this is definitely one of the
biggest Pros when it comes to using a
local supplier however one of the main
cons is that it's going to be difficult
for you to find a consistent reliable
supplier that has the product that you
want to sell so over my many years of
building various different e-commerce
businesses I've rarely ever used a local
Supply over a long period of time reason
being is because they're not really
reliable they don't always have products
available and as I already said earlier
they also have to import the products
from China as well which means that
their stock levels are going to be
limited the products available in the
inventory are also going to be limited
it's going to be really difficult for
you to scale your business if you do
plan on using a local supplier But
whichever way that you decide to go you
just need to make sure that you're aware
of all of these different eventualities
so that you're going to be able to run
your eBay business in the best way
possible but of course there's a lot
more nuances that go into starting and
scaling a successful eBay business I
