In japan, disposing your unused goods
can be troublesome and sometimes cost you a fortune
sometimes it is better and cheaper to sell those things
And these two shops are the most popular shops in Japan
to sell your goods
Now I will tell you how to sell your stuff
Let's start from this one
in this store, there are 3 ways to sell your stuff
by bringing your stuff to the store
by web delivery service,
or by pick up service.
For web delivery and pick up service
you need to register first on the website, and the process takes quite some time
so this time we are going to sell at the store
First step, bring your stuff to the counter
If you have many stuff, you can ask the clerk to borrow a trolley from the shop
and bring your stuff to the counter
by yourself
nobody will help you
Next, the shop clerk will do a quick assessment
to select which one they will buy and which one they wont buy
You can also check the list of things that you can sell
in their website
One of the important thing to understand is
there are some items that the shop will not buy
such as
home appliances that were manufactured
from more than 10 years ago
Or any decorations such as paintings and other arts
For more details information, you can check on their website.
Next, they will do the price assesment
We will be asked to write our name and phone number (if you want)
and they will give us number
They will call the number or give you a call if you want
when they finished the price assessment.
This process is pretty fast
it took only like 5-8 minutes until they called the number
and we need to go back to the counter again
Last step is the payment
They will show you the price for every items they brought in
If you agree, then you can go to the next step
You have to fill in some information such as name, address, phone number,
And the will also ask for an identity card
to confirm your identity
They will hand you the money, and it is done!
And how much money that I get?
I will tell you at the end of the video
keep watching
Since some of our things were not sold
we decided to test our luck in the next store
the steps are almost the same in this store
First we need to bring the stuff to the counter ourselves
For home stuff, we can drop it at off house counter
As for electronic appliances, we can drop it at hard off
And for toys and hobby, we can drop it at hobby off
Instead of doing a quick assessment and selecting
the shop clerk took all of our stuff and assessed them all together
They will give us the number and then we wait
and the important thing is
that this store accepts even wider-range of items
from clothing, electronics, jewelry, toys, kitchen ware, hobbies, furniture, decoration, arts
almost everything
even some certain junks
However, for electronic appliances
they put 7 years as the rule
And if you are too busy to go to the store
you can always use other options
such as web delivery service and pick up service as well
you can check on the website for more information
After about 10 minutes of waiting
finally we came to the next step
the explanation of the assessment
The shop clerk will explain to you in detail
for every price they put on every items
for example,
"this towel has a stain, so the price will be 1 yen"
or something like that
If you agree with the price
you can start to fill your identity for payment step
and again, they will ask for id card for verification
there you go, your payment!
So, how much did I get?
Here are the receipts
I cannot make a comparison because we sold different stuff at a different store
In 2nd street, the stuff that make most of the money is home appliance
and certain clothes like this
Other clothes including shoes and hats, were sold for various price
from 1yen-150yen
So, don't be surprised
while furnitures were sold only at 30 yen each
What I like from Off house is
that they still take the things we cannot sell at 2nd street
although they only give us 1 to maximum 50 yen price
for the things that fall into “home interior” category
including our antique paintings and decoration
While the stuff that makes most of the money here is outdoor/camp goods.
If you want to sell your stuff at these stores
you better get used to the price given
Or, you can sell your unused items through some facebook pages
or marketplace
to make little more money than the shops
Especially for antique goods
an antique shop or forum will be the best option for you
And here are some quick tips to sell at high price
1. Watch the timing
Especially if you are selling seasonal items
Make sure that you sell it just before the season begins
2. Watch the trend
Trend is always recycling
If your old items are popular now, you can get high price
3. Clean and tidy
Don't forget to clean your items before selling
If you have boxes or manual books or even tag
make sure you put them together
So, what do you think?
are you ready to sell your goods?
