these sorts of items can sell for
hundred bucks plus all the time these
are everyday items that you can find in
just the common everyday store for the
most part but there's a reason why they
sell for this kind of money and we're
going to talk about that today
[Music]
hey it's dawn the auction professor
today we're going to talk about items
that corporate America decided to
abandon and stop producing these are
discontinued items these are everyday
items that can make you a ton of money
they can be found all over the place
let's hop over right now and look at
some of the best and quickest movers in
this area so here we are with
discontinued items one of the biggest
ones that most people will remember is
when coke changed the formula to new
coke big huge uprising and they actually
ended up changing it back for the most
part same basic example Corporate
America at time to time will determine
that they're not making enough money off
a specific line of product and they will
do what's called discontinuing it when
that happens you'll have diehard fans of
those specific items wanting them very
badly and they will pay a ton of extra
money to keep them in stock now this
item here isn't even a full case it's a
partial case a hundred and twenty one
ounce arid extra dry now these are cream
deodorants twelve hundred dollars
basically on these and that's typical if
you look up this specific item you're
gonna find that it sells very well for
very good money and very quickly these
are all items that should net you $100
or better when you find a grouping of
them or even individually for that
matter all good items all across
corporate America items are discontinued
all the time these are some as I said
some of the easiest ones that have been
around for a while
there's many reasons why stuff like this
can happen companies closing is another
one this is things that you can glean
from news articles on what's going to
happen if a company's closing down that
produces something that's even mildly
popular stockpiling some of those items
can pay off and that's what people do
it's like an investment it's almost like
buying stocks but instead you're buying
a discontinued item now of course if
you're not careful you can buy something
that wasn't well liked in the first
place and be stuck with merchandise you
can't sell so know what you're doing
look
to the field look into the sails just
because Corporate America isn't making
money from it doesn't mean that you
can't this is just a really good example
of this type of thing
now here's Grecian Plus this is another
one of those oddball items now this says
five ounces this is actually point five
ounce tube this is half an ounce tube of
this there's 25 tubes of this just over
12 ounces of product twelve hundred and
twenty-five dollars these are things you
can still run into at drugstores and
grocery stores and things along that
line Mon posters that have had product
in the shops forever they're all good
places to source this kind of stuff in
almost any neighborhood around really
nice example here if you look up this
product you're going to see the
individual tubes of this go for some
good money so don't pass up on these
sorts of things I see these when I'm
just buying something that I need I can
see these and checkout lines even on
occasion not specifically this but many
other items just like this now here's
dentine this is a checkout item this is
a case of discontinued cinnamon gum the
classic this is just a real nice example
there's chap sticks and Burt's Bees and
all kinds of items like this that can go
for some insane money just because they
were discontinued 280 bucks for this
they don't cost that much buying them
sometimes you can even find these in the
discounted section at a grocery store or
something like that
now speaking of companies that are going
out of business or have went out of
business Nikko is one of those companies
here now this is a lot of eight 16-ounce
bags of Mary Jane candy 185 bucks so
this is just a real nice example people
bought up cases of this kind of thing
and have been selling them or they held
on to them for a little while and then
sold them the only thing you want to
take into consideration on some of these
is the expiration date on them some
products have a short expiration
timeframe now some of these may not even
be able to be sold online if they have
expired so always be cautious on that
this is a good example here Nikko wafers
as well the multicolored ones aren't so
bad I never liked the chocolate ones but
178 dollars for these here now kitchen
products are right up along
with this happens all the time in
kitchen products this is mcCormick
meat marinade now these sell for some
good money look them up individually now
this is one that has expired as you can
see but it is still selling like this
nice example here hundred and seventy
bucks roughly ten dollars a piece for
these there are only a couple bucks new
if they were in the markdown section so
they probably didn't even pay that for
them now here's another product that can
sell even when they're not discontinued
online fairly well some of the Crystal
Light products do very well now this
one's a mock appletini it's a mixed
drink kind of sort of thing sold very
well hundred and forty bucks out of this
lot they have here you just can't go
wrong on stuff like this this is
something that most people wouldn't hold
a value to as long as they're new
they're sealed they're still okay
product I still will mess with these and
keeping right along with the theme
there's three jars of nestea unsweetened
instant tea these are three ounce jars
they're not very big 135 bucks for these
discontinued product that's the big key
here for even products that haven't been
technically discontinued yet can sell
very well just like this sort of thing
so I said hundred dollars plus these are
very very quick movers whenever you NAB
them up they're gone right off the bat
first couple days first week at the most
for any one of these products I am
showing you now here's another one of
those oddball products sometimes the
company will start a product thinking
they'll be able to market it and sell it
and make some money on it now this is 84
sealed packs of red berry gum this is
sour patch kids line of gum they made
discontinued didn't sell very well
people liked it still so 134 dollars for
this sort of thing here it's not a
fortune you're gonna make on this but
it's easy money when you can find them
because there are people that will buy
these just to eat the gum they loved it
that much now so does another one that
makes limited runs of soda and things
like that
coke started to produce georgia peach
which we do like it comes in bottles
even there's a raspberry version of it
this is sprite cranberry I would imagine
this was released for the holidays I did
not see this product until I was looking
for some other items a perfect example
they sold two cases of these
420 $9.99 shipped so with shipping
involved you're probably looking at
about $100 they made off of a four or
five dollar max investment on this
product now many people will buy as I
said all of these type of things at
their store they'll hold on to them till
after they've been gone and then they
will sell them I do that with other
items myself this is just a perfect
example of a flip of a high-dollar item
you can get cheap that will go very
quickly
here's another Nikko product Squirrel
Nut Zippers there's actually a musical
group that used that name if you didn't
know it's an old name it's been around
forever
here is a 50 piece bag or box or
container of it one hundred and twenty
dollars now here's another example of
some candy this is skittles along with
some starburst sweet heat is the line
that these are haven't tried them not my
thing
hundred bucks though and the buyer is
paying for shipping you just can't go
wrong this is probably a twenty or
thirty dollar purchase would be my guess
so they're making a quick 60 bucks on
something I'm sure it's sold very very
quickly that is the key on these these
things sell just like that for the most
part you can't get them everywhere most
people don't realize that these are
discontinued the walk right by them in a
store without thinking a thing of them
now here's bounce dryer bar fresh linen
bars this is the bar with the holder
these go extremely well extremely
fasters four of them 230 dollars look
these up now a lot of these items here
I'm showing you are still available
they're still selling just as well as
you see them here in my area though I've
pretty much scoped out every place in
there aren't any left at this point so
I'm gonna shut these out to everybody
these are great items to get big
moneymakers something that you can flip
really quick really easily it's still
something that you can find on the store
for regular price or less discounted now
home care products are great as well
here's Johnson's one step no buff wax
wood floor care oddball items sounding
about 22 ounces three containers
discontinued one hundred and sixty bucks
on this and free shipping so roughly 125
130 is what they got out of these three
cans
it's all over the place this sort of
thing investigate it look into it this
is something that can make you a lot of
money this is something that's a little
easier to get into than other areas
antiques and collectibles which I make a
ton of money in is a little harder again
and so you have to know some good
knowledge to do very well in it we still
sell stuff like this all the time though
grocery stores are always good places to
source if you know what you're looking
for so good example laundry detergent
same basic principle Fresh Start powder
laundry detergent four point one four
pounds forty four loads of this one
hundred and thirty five dollars
something you can still run into at some
of the old mom paw stores this sort of
product does show up even at secondary
auctions and things like that for
scratched and dented food items or
discontinued as well or discounted items
so just a great example now here is
whisk deep clean this is the original
detergent 15 ounce 33 loads a good
example as well people will live by
certain types of detergent and when
they're discontinued after being around
for 1020 years they'll pay some good
money for getting those products so real
good example you can't go wrong and
stuff like this this is three bottles of
it now mind you so you're talking new
these are six bucks eight bucks
depending if they're discounted or
discontinued they may be marked down at
the store so you may not even pay that
for them and the last one here is
Scrubbing Bubbles automatic shower
cleaner kit this is two refills this is
all discontinued it wasn't very popular
it didn't sell very well but there is a
group of people that love buying these
products and still use them regularly
and swear by it maybe their marketing
was poor who knows but it's still a good
product it's viable they still sell very
quickly just like all of these items
were sought the hundred dollar mark here
so keep an eye out pay attention there
is money to be had almost anywhere you
go these days if you know what to look
for so anyway that's what I have for you

boy this is a doozy of a job for one guy
well maybe I can help I can sure use it
now your operating statement what's the
problem well that's the same problem
that we had yesterday and the day before
that we ought to be doing better that's
a good start anything I can't stand is a
complacent manager let's see now I'll
tell you what you got your weekly sales
figures yep we're doing about $25,000
sales 25,000 now let's take a look at
your profits for the week what's the
merchandise cost about $20,000 $20,000
the difference is $5,000
that should gross profit right not bad
but that figure doesn't last very long
does it out of it comes things like well
let's jot them down first fixed expenses
ret insurance warehousing costs
depreciation and so on and the figure
$1,500 a week and they stay at that
amount even if your sales drop those
costs are built in they're a regular
part of your everyday operation as
regular is a coffee break now let's look
at the variable expenses utility
supplies salaries promotion costs and so
forth those expenses that change from
time to time there are about $3,000 a
week here the biggest single item is you
your salary and the salaries of all the
others in the store you're quite an
investment these total expenses are
4,500 take that away from your gross
profit of 5,000 profit before taxes 500
after taxes about two hundred and fifty
dollars one percent
