vivid bill Spurs from Cheshire curls
based in Crewe and we are a useful
retailer here in Cheshire and we've been
in business 24 years during those years
we've obviously dealt with many many
aspects of the motor industry one of
those aspects that we come across fairly
regular is the purchase or when
someone's buying a car and the he or she
has a private number plate and obviously
they wish to keep the number player and
want some help in to to transfer it onto
the new car so this video will hopefully
give you an insight on just how easy and
simple it is but obviously there are a
few caveats to ensure is simple and easy
now caveat one is the regarded natural
play to them so you've got a car it's
got your number plate on it how do you
get it off that car so what you need to
do is to apply what we would recommend
is a retention certificate now you can
do that online and it's really really
straightforward you just go onto the
DVLA website look up retention and
follow the instructions that will remove
the number plate from your car and put
it on retention there will issue a
certificate of retention and the vehicle
will probably get back its original moon
plates they will tell you what those
plates are you've probably got them in
the garage you just slip them back on
and you drive the car into the dealer
and exchange it that then means that
you've now got a new car or a used car
which is new to you without your number
plate on now the second caveat is that
you you're not able to transfer it
straight across even though you have got
a retention certificates but what needs
to happen is the dealer needs to apply
through the DVLA to put your name onto
the new cars or registration document so
get the dealer to do that online and
takes up to five days and then you'll
have a new registration document far the
car you've purchased in your name so
caveat three is the registration
documents in your name you can now go on
to the DVLA to
try to transfer your private number
plate with some retention to that car so
you do the same but it reversed to what
he did at the beginning so you've gone
to the DVLA website and you follow the
instructions and within seconds or a few
minutes you'll have authorization to
place the number plane onto your new car
the registration document will come back
to you with your details on obviously as
it has gone off there with your details
on but it will have displayed the
private plates and not the original
number so that's just how simple it is
to transfer a cherished number plane or
a private of the plane
