hey guys welcome back to my channel this
week i want to share with you guys part
of our art business and i just thought
it'd be fun to make a video around this
topic because we just got a painting
sale and i want to talk to you guys
about selling your art selling your
paintings and what's the best way to go
about it i have created a video but it's
older i'll link it up here and so i kind
of just wanted to
do a new video on this topic of how to
sell your artwork and the best places to
do that in 2022 so if you're interested
in selling your art keep watching i'm
going to quickly bring this painting
down so that i can put up the one that
was just sold
and kind of talk to you guys about how
we got the sale and then i'll go more
into depth about how to get painting
sales so let's take this big one down
this is felix's most recent one i'm
going to scoot you guys back so you can
see how big it is it's hard to see
because this is sideways but it's a
pretty big piece this one that i'm
taking down so my husband does a lot of
different types of art as you can see
that was a landscape and this is part of
his abstract series this is the one that
was sold this was the piece that was
sold
let me just check what size it is one
second okay so this is an 18 by 24 inch
acrylic on gallery canvas and he sold
this one for twenty two hundred dollars
and the crazy thing is that i think a
lot of times artists are afraid to have
their prices high
or to ask a lot for their art but this
just shows you that when the right
person comes along they are not going to
try to negotiate you down on your price
because they love and appreciate your
art so much so i'm going to share with
you guys how we got this sale now so we
finally got our couch in the mail and so
i brought you guys to sit down while we
talk but basically let's get started
talking about painting sales and if
you're new here my name is andrea i have
helped my husband caller by felix grow
his social media platforms to millions
of people around the world also growing
his sales and his business so i talk all
things about art business online
business and social media marketing so
if you're interested in these topics
please stick around i do videos every
single week talking about one of these
topics also if you're enjoying this
video so far please be sure to give it a
like subscribe and hit the bell button
to be notified when i post so basically
i put out a video a few years ago
talking about the best places to sell
your artwork and now i want to revise
that i have come to find that while
there are a lot of great places to list
your artwork they don't compare to
building an audience around your art and
selling to those people that is exactly
where we got this 2200 painting sale
which is through social media we have
every single platform of course and we
post to all of them because each one has
a different audience you don't know
who's going to like what kind of art
until you start putting your stuff out
there so we actually got this sale
through facebook and as i said it's just
crazy because a lot of times artists
think it's about the price that's gonna
sell a piece but when we posted this
video within a couple minutes someone
was like i love this painting and just
because felix responded i feel like that
has a big part of it so i notice a lot
of times like artists don't respond to
their comments but one thing that's like
super important to us is to always
respond to people we respond to as many
people as we possibly can because a lot
of our sales come through that way it's
an interaction with your customer and so
that's why responding to your comments
is so important so i would say that
hands down the best place to sell your
artwork is on social media now i'm not
saying your audience is going to be on
facebook that's just where our audience
hangs out we tend to get sales through
all the platforms it really just depends
on where your audience is so you need to
test that out for yourself but the hands
down the best way to sell your art in
2022 is by building a platform online
around your art and then selling and
engaging with your clients there because
those are the people that are going to
want to support you who love your work
and they are going to buy from you i put
out another video talking about how etsy
is no longer the best place to sell your
art you can check it out up here and i
talk about why that is when you try to
go on etsy you're going to be competing
with other artists based on price and
that never feels really good so i feel
like for me social media is the best
place to sell your paintings in 2022
because you are not going to have to pay
fees to post your work you can literally
just even if you don't have a website
you can literally just sell through the
comments or sell through dms and work it
out that way so you don't even need a
fancy website or anything you can get
started just by using social media and
if you're new to my channel i have tons
of videos sharing with you guys some of
our strategies that we use on social
media and how to grow your platforms as
an artist something else i want to
mention to you guys is that selling
paintings is not our only source of
income we don't get painting sales every
single day we do get painting sales but
it's not all the time and it certainly
is not something that i would want to
rely on because it could be really like
random i guess that's the word i'm
looking for like you can't control when
the right person's gonna come at the
right time and going to buy the piece so
basically original art is one of our
streams of income but that's why i tell
you guys it's so important if you want
to have a reliable business as an artist
you need to have multiple streams of
income and i also share with you guys
some other options for streams of income
on my youtube channel and some of my
videos so you should go check that out
if you are wondering how to get started
with an art business what streams of
income i have tons of information on my
channel another way to sell art that we
have done a few times is we have had art
auctions
we have also
experimented with doing sort of a
limited edition series or a series of
miniature paintings there's a lot of
different ways to get creative on
selling your artwork without having to
compromise on price and i think that
when you start compromising on price it
really diminishes the value of your art
and so i never want artists to feel like
you have to charge less than what your
art is worth there are people out there
that love your art and are willing to
pay a fair amount of what you're asking
why i think that selling on social media
is the best option for artists in 2022
is because people are more likely to buy
from you when they know like and trust
you so
you can get all of that by building up
your audience on social media people
become attracted to you they become
connected to you they want to support
you when you are putting your work out
there when you are showing up
consistently and it's going to be a lot
easier for people to find you because i
mean imagine how many people you can get
in front of now through social media
versus
having
going just the traditional path which is
having your art in one location and
hoping the right people come along i
feel like now there's so much more
opportunity yes you have to get creative
with it yes you have to put in a little
bit more effort to present your art in a
creative way
but you're also getting the benefit of
being able to work for yourself making
it a full-time living and getting in
front of people all around the world to
purchase your art while you're sleeping
because a lot of times people in other
countries can be watching your content
while you're asleep
so if you haven't taken social media
seriously as an artist this is your sign
spend some time learning about how you
can get started and let me know in the
comments if you have any questions i'd
be happy to answer them and be sure to
give this video a like and subscribe if
you enjoyed this video i look forward to
sharing more about art business online
business and social media with you guys
stay tuned and i'll see you next week
bye
