currently uploading daily I keep telling
you guys I don't know how long this will
last so make sure you subscribe give
this video a thumbs up I also have two
other channels if you're interested I
have a beauty channel where we do Beauty
news product reviews occasionally
tutorials that's down below and I also
have a vlog channel that I linked down
below today you guys have requested it
so we are doing a thread up 101 how to
sell pose to threat up we are going from
step 0 all the way to like step 15 or
it's not that complicated maybe like
step 5 and then at the end of this video
I'm actually gonna show you things that
I've actually sold on thredUP I'll put
photos up I'll tell you how much
Commission I make and my thoughts on the
whole process so grab a snack maybe grab
some notes give this a thumbs up let me
know if you want to see this also on
thredUP luxe because that's actually a
different process so thredUP
they're normal stores just think of it
as a huge online thrift store you can
send any kind of brand you want you can
send guests Banana Republic
you can send stuff from TJ Maxx you can
send things from targets and then thread
up targets target and then thread up Lux
is where you would send your designer
items and that's a different process so
think Gucci Prada Theory grease I think
they take Reese there's a specific list
so that would be a separate video but
just for other like you know I want to
say like mall brand mid-range things
that's the process for this so let's
jump in and let's get started so first
up you need to go to thread up calm and
create an account I just realized that I
have a referral link so I'll leave a
link to my referral link down below so
if you sign up using my link it gives me
ten dollars to shop and it gives you ten
dollars to shop when you place your
first order I'm just looking at the
website I think that's how it works so
I'll leave a link down below if you
don't have an account but first thing
you have to do is create an account like
when I first went to thread up some
website just to even look around and
shop it kept like pestering me like a
pop-up came up and it wouldn't let me
look at anything else until I created an
account so you can click the link down
below and create an account
or you can just go to their website read
up calm create an account it's free so
then you want to go to the top left
corner at least that's what it looks
like on my screen I'll probably put like
screen inserts on my screen and right
now and you click clean out so this is
how you send your clothing to them so
there's two things that you can do and
you'll see it on the screen you can
either sell your clothing or you can
donate it do what you want but in this
instance in this video we're trying to
make money right so we want to sell it
so you click sell and then you go to
your kit options so you have two options
here you can either do the free standard
processing which basically means they
get your let's say you send them a box
of clothing it'll take about two weeks
for them to go through the box tell you
what they want to sell what they don't
want to sell so that process takes two
weeks or you can pay a sixteen dollar
fee to get expedited maybe you want them
to go through your stuff quickly maybe
you I don't know I've never done
expedited because usually when I'm
sending stuff to them I'm not in a rush
I don't care if it takes them a month
luckily they're usually pretty faster
than that and we'll get into that but
I've never done expedited but maybe you
want to know quickly and you want your
stuff up on their website quickly if
they decide to keep it so you can choose
the sixteen dollar expedited service and
then you have to decide if you want them
to return the stuff to you that they're
not going to sell so the way it works is
you put all the clothing in there that
you want to send them that you want them
to hopefully what they would do if
they're going to sell it they photograph
it they put it on their website and they
give you a certain amount of time to
sell it or you can have it back so for
the things that they decide that they
don't want to sell like they just decide
oh maybe this estate or maybe this is a
really old pair of jeans from like 20
years ago we can't sell it you have to
decide do you want them to just keep it
and so what it says is though
responsibly recycle items that they
don't accept you can choose that that's
what I always choose cuz usually for my
I actually did mention this in my what
was it called bad bias video so I did
two videos where I talked about
inventory that I had that I've had for
over a year that wasn't selling so when
it doesn't sell after a year and
laughs and ivory listed it this is what
I do with that inventory so usually if
spread ups not even gonna take it to
sell I don't want it back they can read
owned ate it I don't want them to send
it back to me
but there can be another fee so you
could let's say you could pay the 16
dollars for them to expedite and go
through your inventory you could also
pay 1099 for them to return any items to
you that you don't want so let's say
there's clothing in there that if they
don't sell it it's important to you you
want it back and you definitely want to
hit 1099 return unaccepted items so
that's important I'm just telling you
what I do though I never if it usually
when I'm sending things to thredUP it's
like last resort and if it doesn't sell
there I don't really care now here's
where things get really weird with
thredUP
and this is the part I really don't like
about sending it to them so once you
click those options it tells you what
the different payout ranges are and I'm
gonna show you exactly out have been
because I don't understand it so it says
there item payout payouts range from 5%
to 80% on the listing price higher end
brands get you a higher percentage of
the payout and then they have the payout
structure which I honestly it's just
it's pretty self-explanatory you just
have to know the pricing so you have 60
or 90 days for the items to sell on
their website once they say okay these
are the items we're taking so for value
and mall brands think of Target I'm
reading their website I'll probably put
it on the screen to forever 21 gap Nike
Kids brands things like that you have 60
days for it to sell and then they take
it off which i think is absolutely
ridiculous on the real real they give
you a full year I don't think that's
long enough
but whatever for premium and designer
brands think j.crew Lululemon Gucci
Prada etc that's their looks you get 90
days which I still don't think is enough
so then your payout ranges and I really
don't like the way they do this so if
the selling price is $5 to $20 you could
get 5 to 15% wherever it lands
if it's twenty to forty nine dollars
fifteen to thirty percent and so on I
just think it's a little confusing but
they do have a payout estimator like for
example they said if there's a you have
a j.crew dress that's listed at 42 23
your estimated payout would be 34 cents
you get $12.67 or if you send them a
pair of old Navy jeans the estimated
listing price would be $11 and then you
can get a payout of 55 cents so you get
more for the higher end brands and then
they use the example of Gucci if you
sell a Gucci handbag on their website
they let's say they listed at 350 855
you would get 80% of that you get a
higher percentage when it sells for more
money which is good so you would get to
86 84 okay so it's a little confusing
but just basically think the higher end
brands the more percentage you get paid
out the more mall brands old navy gap
you get a less lesser payoff so then
there's another option I I know this all
sounds like a lot at first but it's
really not once you get used to it it's
really easy then you can decide how you
want to send them the item so there's
two options you can say send me a bag I
have never done that before I actually
just did it on accident just recently
which I thought perfect timing for this
video I haven't even opened this I never
do this
because I can't believe like I don't
even think this should be an option you
guys it's such a waste of paper it's a
waste of postage only when you say send
me a bag they send you a label they send
you a bag literally huge I'm trying to
do this without showing you my address a
huge giant plastic bag but you can fit
all your stuff in and send it to them I
just think that's so wasteful I think
the only option should be is that you
print your own label at home so that's
what I do I print out my own label I
have my own box I go to Home Depot I get
one of their small or medium boxes
they're literally like a dollar and a
dollar 50 and I put all my stuff in
there
because when you do send me a bag once
you do this you have to wait for them to
mail this to you and it took like a week
and what you just want to get stuff like
out of your house out of your inventory
you just don't want to wait for this I
don't know I think that's wasteful so I
always do print my own label I go to
Home Depot
I buy my boxes in bulk like I'll buy
boxes ten at a time just so I have boxes
on stock for like Amazon for stuff like
this for the real real and so when you
put print your own label you can print
more than one label at a time I usually
just do one you click how many labels
you need it puts you put your address in
you say get my kit and it'll email you a
label it'll email it to you or you can
just print it on the next page you put
it on the box and you can take it I
think you can take it to the post office
and UPS I just go to the post office
because that's where my PA boxes and
that's it you should fit to them now
once you ship it to them it does take a
while like remember how I said that they
said they'll do expedited processing for
1699 I never do that I always just do
the standard and they say it will take
about two weeks sometimes they'll do it
in a week and sometimes they'll process
my boxes I send them in like a month I
don't know it's never been like an exact
two weeks for me so let's talk about
what happens once they get your items so
once they get your items an actual
person goes through each item and
decides what they want to take and sell
and what they don't and so whatever they
don't want to sell based on the options
you chose either they recycle it and you
never see it again
or they send it back to you for that
1699 fee so I wanted to show you some
things that have sold for me on thredUP
so this is just normal thread up not
thread up looks we can do another video
on that if you want I've sent them four
boxes in the past out of those four
boxes 20 items sold and I made a total
of 48 26 you see why it's my last resort
I'm making those eyes because don't
unless you're sending in a lot of higher
end brands don't expect to make like
great money on thread of I don't feel I
feel like people the few videos I've
seen of people that sell on thread up I
feel like it can be a little misleading
because if you're sending in a lot of
like like the things I said
I told you it's last resort I've tried
to sell it so it's press I haven't sold
it in a year and a half
excuse me I'm talking a lot if I haven't
sold it for a year and a half they do
have a bigger audience oh my god I'm a
chili for lunch and I'm pretty sure I
have a bean stuck in my throat
they have a larger audience so it's kind
of like my last effort but of course
they need to make a profit too so let me
show you what I'm talking about
I'll move over here and I'll put photos
up so I sent them a JLo by Jennifer
Lopez wool coat that was a nice coat I
was gonna keep it but I just didn't like
the color I don't really like brown on
me but it's a really nice coat was
really hefty really well made so they
listed it for $28.99 which I thought I
should have been listed for more like
that coat for like a great quality coat
they listed it for $28.99 can you guess
how much I made from them five dollars
and 66 cents which ain't bad right they
also sold this el blazer this was a
really cute blazer but I had it for a
year and a half wasn't selling I sent it
to them they listed it for sick it's
sold for 1699 and I got two dollars and
16 cents so it's not horrible at least
I'm getting some money back but you're
not making much profit when you send
them these like mall fast fashion brands
it's really only worth it to me I never
source and think I've got to send this
to thread up my way of using thread up
is I tried to sell it on my own it
didn't work let me just send it to them
and maybe I can recoup some of my money
let's talk about some other items so
this actually this dress was from my own
closet so this is a red chien dress you
guys know Shion is a fast fashion online
brand they sold this for $13.99
I had never worn this this was new never
worn it and what's interesting is they
said this item is gently used with minor
fading but I never wore it but okay so
they sold that dress for $13.99
I got 70 cents
pay out so not great not great they sold
this Boulevard jumpsuit this is another
thing I bought this from Nordstrom Rack
online and I didn't try it on and it did
not fit me I could not get this over in
my thighs this was a size medium but
this definitely fit like a size small so
this was super cute this they sold it
for $12.99 I probably pay like 40 bucks
for this and my payout was 58 cents so
not that great friends this dress I wish
I wouldn't have sent to them so this is
mm Lafleur very high-end brand very
high-end pick this up at Goodwill I
think for like 4 bucks but it had major
signs of where there was peeling there
was a small hole in the back small hole
in the front and I just thought this was
before I knew about the real real I
should have sent this to the real world
but I didn't know about them then so
they sold it for $32.99 which honestly
could have gotten a lot more money on
the real world even with those signs of
wear and I got a 525 payout so not bad
so that just shows you those are just
some examples of things that have sold
and the money I get now here's a higher
end item this was from my own personal
closet this is a Michael Kors leather
satchel I actually bought this from TJ
Maxx years ago like three or four years
ago I think I paid like 170 and it was
marked down 50% so they sold it for 50
to 99 this bag was worn they really made
it look nice they cleaned it up I like
the photos they took of it and I got a
profit of 20 to 40 so you see what
saying like what they consider higher
end brands and what I consider higher
end brands I don't know because I wasn't
expecting to get that high of a payout
on my purse because it was so old so I
don't know you really just have to look
at their make sure if you really want to
know what you're getting paid out make
sure you spend some time look at the
brands that they consider like more
higher-end
and then try to figure out what you
might be paid out
their payout structure is very confusing
it's based on the brand and then it's
based on listing price so I just used
thread up is kind of my last effort and
then I never have them send anything
back to me although I am about to send
so I said some things to a real real
that they did not accept some higher end
brands like Theory Vince I'm gonna send
that to a thread up and then this is
gonna be the first time that I'm gonna
say I'll pay the 1099 send the items
back to me that don't sell cuz then I'll
just try to resell them myself or send
it back to thread up because thread up
sometimes will take those brands thread
up is really picky so that's the process
friends a twosie hopefully you found
this helpful I hope this wasn't
confusing it's pretty simple like don't
let it scare you once you go through the
process once or twice it'll just feel
like clockwork like you can just do it
over and over yeah so like honest 100%
it's not my favorite way to sell
clothing it's my last effort it's a way
for me to just get inventory out and
hope I recoup some money like I told you
I've already sent them four boxes and
total I've made like 48 bucks so it's
not great it's not great but it's a way
to get some money back as opposed to
just donating that I still donate a lot
but for the items I think that my sell
on our website I'll send to them
honestly I think if I send anything to
thread up it's gonna be more of the
brands that they consider higher-end
just so I can get that close to 80%
payout so that's why when I get that box
back from the real real when it has it
has like theory they're sending back to
me Vince
Tracy Reese I'll send it to thread up
and if it sells there I'll get a like an
80% payout that's something that's
interesting about real real is they
don't charge you to send your items back
I really like that like why are you
charging me I don't agree with that
let's thread up also like I don't know I
know there's a cost associated with it
but they make so much money I don't know
I don't think it should be 1099 like why
can't it be five dollars or free I'm
going sending you the inventory am I
just spoiled I don't know
let me know your thoughts down below if
you haven't seen my most recent video
