well time now for the morning stir and
McDonald's as you've never seen it
before this morning revealing secrets to
some of your favorite men menu items
with their first time and ABC Gio
Benitez got it
exclusive unprecedented access inside
the fast food giant's massive operation
it's that iconic burger joint
McDonald's serving millions of Americans
for more than 70 years with that famous
smile but for long some customers
haven't been smiling questioning how
their food is produced a process most of
us have never seen until right now so
this is it this is the first time you're
letting any television crew in here
making history we are walking into one
of McDonald's top-secret food plans in
Fresno California here you are opening
your doors to us yes why well we're
starting on a journey called our food
your questions and we want to open up
the doors and let our customers ask us
any questions they have and give them
the answers and it won't be easy
Americans have had tough questions for
the mega fast food company those
questions right in McDonald's latest
commercial launching today I think it's
disgusting
McDonald's even sell real food we suit
up in sterile where to see it for
ourselves this is what we call B trim
okay
and it comes from familiar cuts that you
may know like Chuck and round and Sarah
Lloyd McDonald's says the patties are a
hundred percent beef the recipe they say
is nothing more than a blend of leaner
beef trim and fattier trip just like you
would get at the grocery store you buy
like an 80/20 right blend the beef is
ground blended together made into those
famous patties letting the public see
the salt can be risky but with so many
people on social media able to affect a
company's image
experts say transparency is key
I think McDonald's is deciding to lift
the curtain because of market share
millenials are now driving the food bus
they're heading straight to other
establishments that are offering better
healthier fare and they're trying to
catch up so this morning we go right to
the chief brand officer for McDonald's
do you think that now this is perhaps
something that's being done to improve
those earnings it's not linked to the
business performance at all is linked to
making a few that our customers truly
know the story about McDonald's food
there are going to be families who are
still going to say right you know what
the food at McDonald's is just not
healthy enough I won't feed it to my
kids what do you say I've said you know
don't judge us before you know us so
starting right now mcdonald's wants you
to bombard the company with questions on
twitter and facebook and it'll be very
interesting to see what this
conversation is going to be like because
we're going to see what these other
companies might end up doing because i
think we have a lot of questions for all
of them I think a lot of people do so
you spent a lot of time there that's
right how clean was it you know what
that's what really shocking robbing
because it was pristine and I don't
think that it was a show they were
putting on for us because when we saw
the employees walking around wearing
that sterile gear it really looked like
this was routine so it was really a get
to know them before judging that's right
no fur sorry geo thanks very much
