okay i've got about 10 minutes before i
need to jump on a call so i wanted to
take you through how simple it is to
create a personalized print-on-demand
metal art design so let's get into it so
what i'm going to do what i'm going to
use for this tutorial to get that
inspiration is google who would have
thought what a great place to start so
i'm going to go for a parallel niche
to
to get inspiration i don't want to go
into motocross because i don't want my
thinking clouded by designs that are
already in there i don't want to create
something that's been seen before so i'm
going to go trucker
personalized
metal art and just see what comes up so
it shouldn't take too long for you to
find some inspiration if you find things
that you like save it into a file on
your computer and and use that as an
archive when you are looking for design
inspiration in the future so because my
design ability is pretty limited i'm
going to find something that's pretty
basic to design
so there's a few things to keep in mind
and that one being the integrity of the
design i want to make sure that there's
a bit of strength there
when you've got that strength you're not
worrying so much about the customers
getting pieces that have been damaged in
the mail we when we first started
selling metal art there was quite a few
um damaged pieces and it was just a
constant nightmare between the customer
service and um and the supplier as well
so with with that knowledge
just go and create something that's
pretty strong so
i'm always drawn
to this style the um the oval with the
the text on it that's a quite a decent
easy one to create uh
this one's a good one that's based not
something that i initially created for
bikers
this is another good one too i actually
quite like that the it's like a number
plate
uh one thing with motocross is they've
got those numbers on the front of the
bike so that might be an idea as well
creating something there so
what i'm thinking though is i'm going to
stick with
old faithful and that is
an oval style design
like this
nice and simple all right so what we
need next is some design elements what
piece of the motocross culture are we
going to use to make this design stand
out we want to make sure it's got
emotional triggers uh in the design so
i'm thinking the names uh maybe the bike
number uh even even you know
relationship anniversary date that kind
of thing so
what i'm going to use is creative
fabrica because creative fabrica with
the license that they give you it's a
dollar for the first month and it's 30
off for every month thereafter if you
use my link in the description below
so it'll be 19 a month thereafter but
what that gives you is the ability to
have the commercial rights access to it
it's incredibly important you don't want
to go to a vector stock or deposit
photos and have to pay for that enhanced
license because the enhanced license can
be at times 60 dollars per design which
is quite expensive so creative fabrica
if you want to use my link it's
storehacks.com forward slash cf
but in here i'm just going to type in
motocross
okay even the checkered flag's a good
one this guy on the bikes pretty good
most your time is going to be spent
looking for that
design element that you want on your
design
but
you're going to be doing a few tests so
it's worth doing a few different
variations so i'm going to have a look
at this one because there's a few
different pieces in there
so yeah i'm gonna download this one and
i'll use i reckon this bike here
that's pretty cool so downloading all
right
now we've got our canvas and with
t-launch the canvas needs to be 3000 by
3000 pixels so how we're looking for
time by the way uh all right so get the
elliptical tool
you're going to see how basic i design
so make an oval
to the full extent of that canvas
make sure we create a new layer down
here
come back
edit
stroke
it takes forever for me to get this one
right
and that is how thick we want this
stroke to be
go to black and go inside okay 200
nailed it all right you might want to
smooth out these edges here too
all right next one so what i'm going to
do is create another layer
and i'll put in
look
change the marquee tool to rectangle
change that
to be the same as the other side
actually you know what i'm going to use
a shape for that one so on the left here
photo p is a free tool you can use as
well
you don't have to use photoshop it can
be quite expensive when you're first
starting
so i'm going to do is use
this shape
a rounded rectangle tool
it's pretty cool ronnie all right let's
give that some color
there it is
all right
change the roundness on those edges 50
it's looking better
all right
what do we got there cool cool so let's
bring in that motor cross bike
there's the bike
there so what i'm going to do because i
want a little bit more personalization
on this as well
i want to bring in
a couple
i'm going to select all these layers
press command t this is on mac
and i'm going to drag that down to the
bottom because when i bring in the
silhouettes of the people
it's going to be a little bit taller and
we want to make the the size of the
people
comparative to the bike so back to
creative fabrica
uh
kissing
couple
silhouette please please please haven't
looked for this one yet
cool beautiful we've got this one here
download it
they look young too which is great
bring it over
make them bigger there we go
i really don't know the size comparison
of people and motocross bikes so we've
got to be mindful of that
i think that looks about right there
cut these guys out
isolate them it's also called
all right
so what i did is i used the line tool to
cut them out then i got the
the what's this one called the wand
magic wand tool
on the quick selection tool and then
what i did is right clicked and select
inverted that selection so then it
selected everything outside of that
couple so now we've got them we need to
give it some detail so we can actually
see what these couple are about what
they're doing and what this blob over
here is so we want to go back to the
bike
hold command and click that layer
thumbnail there come back over to
here and go
select
modify expand
we'll expand it by 10
because all we're doing is giving us
room
to erase some of the background i'm
under the pump here all right rasterize
that image right click rasterize get the
eraser tool shortcut is e
and now just select on
the oval there and what we want to do is
i'm imagining the oval goes through
this bike here and you'll see in a
minute why because i click there and
then i click back over here
so i want to keep integrity and a
connection point on that oval and the
the bike
that's why i do that so down here and we
want to keep that
about the same thickness on each part of
the bike here
it's going to give us a nice sort of
cut out of what this image is
on that oval
beautiful
now this is the tricky part it's not
that tricky we're going to rasterize
that image there too the shape the smart
shape
layer get the text and we need a stencil
font and we'll just put
you know what
love this last name so i'm going to put
that on there
mackenzie
that's my name guys all right
so
bt stencil's a good one
before you use that just make sure
you've got the commercial rights access
to that if not again come over to
creative fabrica this is why it's a good
stencil
font you'll find one in here for sure
see straight up right there that's a
killer font there's a few there
all right so bt stencil is what i'm
using i'm going to bring that to the top
so we can actually see it on top
cool look at that
beautiful what a name oh
that looks good all right so i think
we're almost done with that design what
we want to do though is make sure that
we duplicate that lag because we're
going to save
the base layer without the text on it
so and make sure it's transparent png so
i'm happy with that it's going to look
sick once we upload it into t launch
it's all connected we'll see in t launch
if it's not so we're going to save that
okay so that's saved now i want to show
an example on this site what it's going
to look like so what we're going to do
you want that base image because you're
going to want to personalize every order
that comes in you don't want to do that
you want your va doing that so what we
do now
is because when we upload it to our
store we want it to be visual and the
customer to see that there is a name on
it they can personalize it so we're
going to cut that layer out of
that one there just select the layer you
want to cut out of so
what i've done is
command select the the text layer in
that little thumbnail and then come down
to the layer i want to cut that text out
of and then press delete
and then turn that mckenzie layer off
and see once we turn that off we can see
that we still need to cut it from that
oval as well so
up here delete okay
beautiful and now you want to download
the transparent png and you have a
design actually one last little thing i
want to put into this
is a number so we'll put pst so this is
going to be a positive text now we need
some
a decent font for that again so again go
to creative fabric before that um let me
see what's going to look good on this
that's good ariel good down
it's going to be black
and now we want to get the number on
there
you know establish 1983. and we want a
nice bold font for that anton again make
sure you got the commercial rights
access to it you don't want to be jammed
up with
legal
trouble
established 1983. look at that
that looks
beautiful
and now download the transparent png and
again you're going to want to save that
without that number on there and your
designer will come in and put the number
in there when they're creating the
design to upload
and that's the design done i hope i got
that done in 10 minutes you can tell me
what i did it in so what i want to do
now is actually upload it into t launch
to show you how to make sure your orders
are going to be on hold so when that
order does come in they don't go
straight through to production because
we do need to personalize them okay so
go to tlaunch.com
log into your account so in your account
go to settings
so once we're in t launch we want to
come down
to order processing or to hold
got it good okay so now we need to
create a new product
go to wall art
go to die cut metal signs
there we are select image
upload it
so this is a continuity tester so right
here we can see that everything is
connected
go
accept this is gonna look so good
next
personalized kissing
motocross
couple
metal
wall art
copy and paste it down in the first line
of your description because that's going
to push over to etsy as well and then
what we're going to want to do and
christopher from t launch i want you to
update templates so we can have a
pricing template in here
be so much better
select all the images you want you might
be able to find some
concepts or mock-ups that look a little
bit better than having metal art across
the top of a kitchen stove
okay so on the 14-inch i'm going to
remove the 14 inch
i want people to spend a little bit of
money with me
18 inch so i'm going to start the 18
inches 89.99
copy and paste
that price into all the 18 inches
the 24 inch will go 109.99
30 inch 149.99
oh look at the margin on that cool baby
and 36 we'll go 199.99
go for even more
you know what i'm going to get more
let's go 219.99
all right create
now we need to wait a minute until it
publishes across to the store all the
mock-ups are generated come into my
products
i'm going to copy and paste the name of
that piece
reload
hit the sender store as well
select it all don't know why the 14 inch
is still in there take that out
send a store
okay so on our store
i'm going to search
for that product
all right all right so back on our
shopify store where the product comes
through we want to make sure we delete
this main image that comes up i think
one of my students was saying there's a
way that you can make sure that one
doesn't actually come through anyway
and then down here update these images
add images
get the black one done
save right now we've got that on our
store fantastic what we need to do now
though that 14 inches still coming
through
you have to look into that
i've done something wrong see i'm making
mistakes too so what we need to do is
make sure that we can put these
personalization options in there so back
on shopify we go to apps the app i use
for this is infinite options which is
there we want to create a new options
set
create option set
plus name plus
date
drop that down we want to put the url in
there grab the url not on the variant so
take that out
url
that's already matching good
so label on product so this will be
established
date
down there
show advanced options we need that
required yes
number
max four we've got placeholder text 1983
okay and now we want to put another
custom field in there and this is going
to be
last
oh we'll just put name on there
last and first name
text
required yes placeholder text mckenzie
and i'm going to put
an 18 character limit on that just to be
safe
and go save come back over to product
page reload it and it should come up
with those
there we go established date and last
name
done can't sell some medal
