this is not your average 10-minute long
youtube video with an intro that's way
too long followed by a three-minute long
skillshare ad followed by content that
is just copy pasted from not a youtube
video no this is my step-by-step guide
to selling your art on sachi from
someone who has actually sold original
art on sachi repeatedly and on top of
that i was also featured in multiple
collections created by rebecca wilson
the lead creator of sachi and i was also
selected to participate in the other art
fair in london organized by sachi and in
this video i'm going to try and give you
the best advice for struggling artists
so that you can get rid of those
compulsive thoughts of not making enough
money from your art and i'm going to do
some assuming here i'm going to assume
that you're aged in between 20 and 40
that you didn't went to a famous art
school and that you're not afraid of
being a sellout artist
let's get started
first step in selling your art on such
is making sure that you are making art
that people want to buy you simply
cannot sell stone salad to human beings
who don't even eat stones and only want
to buy a chicken salad and the sad truth
is that the majority of artists on sachi
are making the equivalent of stone salad
they are making beautiful art but they
don't actually know if that art's in
line with the market with the demand in
the market and if that art is art that
people actually want to pay money for
and so how do you make sure that you are
making art that people are interested in
and that people want to pay money for
well you simply make sure that your art
is inspired by art that sells really
really well and finding art that sells
really well is actually very simple you
simply go to the sachi website and then
you select all the artworks that are
selling very well so what you do is you
go to the homepage and you go to the
featured sections the artist to watch
sections the bestseller sections and
things like that and then you scroll
through that and you screenshot all the
artworks that capture your attention
that you are attracted by and then you
put them in a folder for later and then
you want to do that on a monthly basis
for several months and then once you
have that folder with all the artworks
that sell very well then you just simply
have to make art that is very similar to
that archer you kind of copy paste it to
some extent with giving it your own
twist so that nobody actually thinks
that you stole the artwork and then once
you have artworks that are in demand
that people want to pay money for you
want to upload those artworks in a way
that you maximize your chances of being
featured in those featured sections on
the homepage yourself and you do that by
drip uploading your artworks and so what
does that mean well it simply means that
you upload one artwork a week on
different days of the week instead of
uploading all your art at once by
uploading it on a weekly basis you will
increase your chances of the creators
seeing your art and not just seeing your
art once but seeing your art repeatedly
and familiarity simply sells the more
familiar they are with your work the
higher chance of being featured yourself
now all of this will not happen if you
don't generate any initial sales and so
let's talk about generating those sales
[Music]
in the second step you want to drive
traffic down your artworks on sachi
because if nobody sees your art nobody's
going to buy your art and this is where
most artists make the first big mistake
they simply assume that by uploading
their art curators will notice it and
will feature their art but this is not
going to happen if they don't get those
initial sales and in order to get those
initial sales they simply think that by
having seo strategies the traffic from
the website will naturally land on their
art and then those people will buy their
art but the reality is that these
websites have way too many artists on
them and definitely not enough traffic
to make these strategies valid and so
you will have to drive traffic yourself
now the best way to drive traffic
without spending money is through social
media but most artists don't have huge
followings and so for most artists means
that they have to build the social media
presence building audience out that they
can then drive towards sachi and
admittedly this is very hard it took me
years to get some kind of traction on
social media and the reality is that
explaining how i get millions of views
on some of my videos would take me
several videos and so i can't really do
that but i can give you my best tip for
beginner artists who have less than 2
000 followers the number one tip is to
not make content about your heart
because nobody is interested in your art
yet and so what you have to do is make
content in line with an existing demand
in the marketplace make content that
people want to watch and the most common
ways to do that to provide value towards
the audience is to either make
educational content or entertaining
content and so with educational content
we are thinking about how to make
gesture drawings or why da vinci is
better than michelangelo or how to make
scholars and with entertaining content
we often think about massive edits with
jokes and just
the kind of video that you want to watch
on a friday evening and so the the key
here is to make content that brings
value to the audience it might be worth
watching this section again because
according to my poll 77 of artists are
not posting on a weekly basis or haven't
even started marketing their art at all
and the topic of marketing is something
that art schools and other influencer
artists are not talking enough about now
once you've achieved this stage you are
making art that people want to buy and
you are also marketing your art and
driving traffic to your versace sales
page
then you will start seeing your first
sales coming in and it's at this stage
that you want to add wood on the file
you want to start using proven sales
strategies to boost your sales up now
these strategies that i will be
explaining are actually extremely easy
and barely take any effort so let's go
[Music]
in the third step you are going to use
proven sales strategies to boost your
sales up and sell more art and the first
strategy is creating scarcity you've
seen this before on the website one left
in stock and suddenly you feel like you
have to buy it because there's only one
left in stock this is scarcity and you
see some big companies like amazon for
example who clearly have stock left on
their own products they know that these
products sell well so they have stock
and yet there's one left in stock or two
left in stock well that's a lie and why
do these companies lie about these
things so obviously we know that as
customers they lie about it because it's
so goddamn effective and so you want to
do this as well as an artist how are you
going to do this on sachi simple
creating red dots red dots that that
indicate that the artwork is solved they
actually changed this feature a couple
of months ago because when i was using
sidechart a lot you couldn't do this but
now for some reason they changed it and
so here's what you're going to do click
on your artworks and then scroll down
until you see the button edit artwork
then you click on price and details and
then you simply select that the artwork
is solved and click save and continue
and then when you go back to your
artworks and you refresh the page the
red dot should appear next to the
artwork now i will quickly go back and
undo all of this because this strategy
is actually something that i don't use
myself anymore for reasons i'm not going
to go into but if you're a beginner and
you can't drive traffic or you cannot
drive traffic to your sales page then
you want to do this the second trick
that you want to use is to make sure
that you make it as easy as possible for
your customer to achieve their dream
outcome let me give you an example let's
say you have a customer that wants to
buy an artwork to make their home look
more luxurious they want to make their
home look more modern now the more you
can increase the certainty that they
will achieve that dream outcome the more
likely they will buy your work and so
the question becomes how can you make
sure that their perceived certainty of
achieving their outcome increases well
you can do this by adding pictures of
your artwork in different interiors
because some of those interiors will
look very similar to the interior that
they have at their home and so they can
then true that picture imagine your
artwork much more easily in their home
and see how luxurious it would actually
be and so this is something that you
want to use the third trick again has
something to do with them achieving
their dream outcome anything that gets
them closer to that dream outcome will
increase your sales and you can do that
by increasing the certainty you can also
do it by
decreasing the time it will take to get
towards the dream outcome and so when
you are selecting the time period that
it will take to package your artwork and
then ship your artwork you want to make
that as quickly as possible on a very
strict deadline and do the best you can
to make sure that you ship it as quickly
as possible here's the thing a lot of
these customers will have deadlines they
want to buy something as a birthday gift
and the birthday is two weeks from now
and if the packaging and delivering
takes three weeks then they will not buy
your work or they have something else
they have a particular dinner plan then
they want to have a new piece that fits
the room something like that and they
want to have it before the dinner so
these things are real you have to take
those things into account and on top of
that and this is very important
sachi also knows this and so the
creators that are selecting work to be
featured on the home page are using this
they are taking this into account and if
an artwork takes too long to deliver
they will simply not take that artwork
and put it on the homepage featured and
so you're missing out on that huge
opportunity the fourth trick i want to
share with you guys is a mindset trick
when you are hearing these things like
faking red circles or making art that is
in line with what people want to buy and
things like that you might feel a little
bit disgusted and for those people who
feel disgusted the next minute might be
the most important minute of your
artistic career you cannot have a
negative viewpoint on selling you cannot
have a negative viewpoint on becoming a
sellout artist or being afraid of
borderline unethical sales strategy
because of the simple fact that art is
already the hardest thing in the world
you are not only competing against
millions of artists for a handful of
galleries and collectors that are worth
it you are also competing against all
the artists of the past hundreds of
years who might already be dead but have
established careers and are still
selling on the secondary market and so
art is the only place where you are
fighting against the best most brightest
smartest people of the history books and
also the contemporary people who are
giving it their all and so it is
impossible if you are adding to that
impossibility contempt for the sales
process or negative feelings about
borderline and ethical things and you
will be a starving artist for the rest
of your life and so
as hard as this might sound
stop complaining and start doing what's
necessary and the best way to start
doing what's necessary is to dive into
sachi and learn as much as you can
possibly learn about the platform and
the best way to learn about the platform
is to watch my video watch this before
you start selling paintings on saatchi
i'll link it in the description any the
end screens that said get the hell out
of here
