hey everybody this is roberto blake of
robertoblake.com helping you create
something awesome today
so in today's video the thing I'm going
to talk about is how you make money in
YouTube selling your own products now
this is a little different than my merch
video where I talked about you know how
you sell merchandise like to create
awesome shirts because that's more
central to your brand as far as
merchandising I'm talking about real
products here I'm talking about how you
sell your you know actual products like
a book or an online course or a DVD or a
video download guide or something like
that or an e-book there's a way to sell
that and basically comes down to
marketing more than anything and just
leveraging the relationship that you
have with your audience and the Valuev
created for them and then introducing
them to your product now the thing that
companies and individuals get wrong
about this is they go in to buy my book
buy my book they go into that mode and
nobody's interested in that so I'm going
to give you some tips and advice on how
you properly market and sell your
products on YouTube so the way that I
would suggest that you go about
something like this because it's the way
that I'm going to go about selling the
just create awesome book is that you
find a way to get people a teaser or
sneak peek of the kind of value that
they can expect from your product you do
um tutorials or you do demos or you do
teasers or you build out a trailer
primary example I'm writing a book right
now it is a 10 section book called just
create awesome and the thing about that
is I'm going to get into the create
awesome philosophy a little bit but also
what stops people from being creative
being successful in their endeavors how
they find their passion and life etc so
the strategy I came up with to sell that
book even before it comes out is I'm
going to do 10 short films one that
addresses each of the chapters in the
book and what its title is it's going to
just be like a two to three-minute
vignette that sells the concept and the
value of the book before the book even
comes out and that's going to be
interesting the other thing that I'm
going to do is obviously I'm going to
put out teaser and sample chapters I'm
going to do in-depth videos on the
YouTube channel that address the topics
that I do in the book but obviously in
short form
content like five minutes I can't go as
deep as I can in a hole ridden
multi-page book so that's what the value
is going to be and then people are going
to be interested in the book when it
comes out as a result of that and let me
talking about in a genuine way in the
channel that's not gimmicky but this
shows that hey this is what the book
does for you this is what the book is
about if you're interested in that it's
coming soon blah blah so you sell
something before it's out by building
anticipation for it you find something
that you can sell that there is a demand
for so one of the things that I enjoy
that I bought is the froknowsphoto guide
to DSLR video from jared polin one of my
favorite youtubers personally and the
thing is I already know a ton about DSLR
video why did I buy the DSLR video guide
from froknowsphoto
because I wanted to support Jarrod and
what he's doing and I also wanted to see
if there was something in this guide
that beyond a refresher would be
something that I didn't know or that I
wanted to know about and the thing is I
could determine that before I bought it
why because Jarrod and Todd put out
trailers that showed teaser stuff from
the video as far as what they were going
to be covering and they also put out a
detailed list of the content that was
gonna be covered in the video and I
found out that they were gonna cover
things like jibs and cranes and sliders
things that I haven't used or purchased
yet and I was like okay I want to know
more about that they were gonna cover
more stuff about disallow audio which
I've been doing pretty good with the
audio but I want to know what their
thoughts on audio work and am I actually
doing it right so that was another
reason I bought the guy so with a
product communicating as much stuff as
you can about the product what the value
of the product actually is and what
they'll actually be getting and if you
have an opportunity to showcase the
value of the product that is what's
going to help you sell it on youtube
unobtrusively without buy my book buy my
book buy my yeah that so understand that
creating value creating awesome for
people is what's going to sell products
not being gimmicky not cramming it down
your throat
so marketing people ceo's product people
whoever you are if you're doing it wrong
rewatch this video understand how to do
it properly
and you will be more successful at it
because
people are on YouTube to solve their own
problems not give you money so I
understand that that's not what this is
about and that people are not interested
in just handing over money to you
without getting something valuable in
return and what you might think is value
is not necessarily what they think is
valuable so you need have empathy for
your customers and then market to them
from a position of empathy rather than
salesmanship and then you'll be fine if
you solve their problems you won't have
to worry about your money and you know
ah I can honestly say that that's worked
out very well for me regardless of what
I'm doing anyway I hope you guys enjoyed
this video if you still have questions
about how to sell products in YouTube
leave that in the comment section I will
answer as much of it as I possibly can
anyway like this video if you liked it
