hey what's up you guys so in this video
i'm showing you exactly how to create a
successful
online course step by step there's so
much potential i see in the space
both in terms of passive income as well
as building a long lasting brand we'll
go through things like how to come up
with the content how to outline your
course
the best ways to film and create your
videos which platforms to sell your
course on
and how to market it this is the
comprehensive guide that i wish i had
before starting my own
first online course so make sure to
watch all the way through to get
the most out of it so the first step in
building an online course
is to come up with an idea for what you
want your course to be about
there are literally infinite topics that
you can make courses on and as long as
you're giving people an
actionable set of steps that they can
follow and most importantly get results
from then you should be good to go
so one of the first questions that you
want to ask yourself is can you get your
clients
results think about the skills that you
have that you can teach
i think a lot of people are like i don't
really know anything that i could
actually create a course on i'm not like
a complete
expert on anything but the thing is you
guys you don't have to be a full-on
expert at some topic in order to teach
it you just need to have some experience
you need to be
more knowledgeable than others and you
know how to format the course in order
to teach it the best
way possible this has to be a replicable
process you guys you're not just
teaching knowledge
you're teaching knowledge and then
you're also teaching them how to take
action and since knowledge and
information is everywhere and you can
find for free
what really sets courses apart is the
ability for them to
get people to actually take the first
step and start the whole process
so definitely think about something that
you yourself are knowledgeable about and
also ask yourself
is there enough demand for this topic
what i recommend doing is going on
google trends
searching up the thing that you want to
create a course on and seeing if people
are actually searching for this type of
stuff you want your course to be niched
down
definitely but you don't want to be so
niche that no one is actually interested
in taking it so what i recommend for you
guys is to come up with a list of
five topics that your course will be
about write those things down and then
really think about
what you can teach for each of those if
you think it is a replicable process
that you are able to teach
then put a check mark next to it but if
it's something that you can't really
teach or that you aren't really
interested in just cross it out for now
and narrow that list down to
one topic that you want to start with so
the second step in building your online
course is to
outline your whole course this is super
super important because i've seen a lot
of courses with
great ideas but then you look at their
outline and it just does not make any
sense
why they're teaching it in that specific
order your outline is literally the
foundation of your course and if you
don't get the outline right then you
just can't build a good
solid course so you're outlining it
definitely needs to be thorough the
order needs to make a lot of sense right
you're not going to start teaching about
advanced topics at the beginning you're
going to actually
first give an intro you're going to talk
about yourself you're going to talk
about what the course is about
and then you're going to go into more
beginner friendly things at the start
then you're going to work your way
towards
the whole process from a to z and that's
probably going to involve the more
complex and advanced strategies
near the end you'll want to break your
course into different modules
and each module is going to have
different videos and different sections
that relate properly to that module so
now i'm going to take you guys through
the outline of my first course
my six figure youtube academy so if you
go to the landing page
scroll down basically i have the whole
curriculum laid out
on this landing page so each of these
blocks is a module and you can see i'm
starting out with my youtube story
starting on youtube
audio retention what equipment works
best working my way all the way down to
like seo
and editing workflow and then ending off
with youtube support
so in each of these modules i'll have a
bunch of different videos so if we go
look at
this first one i have two videos here um
this one
has five separate videos and then here
we have monetizing your channel
basically all these videos are about how
to create income using your youtube
channel
here is seo and keyword optimization so
all these videos are relating to that
i think spending a lot of time on this
outline was extremely extremely
important when building out this course
because if you do your outline wrong
then the whole course is not going to
make any sense and your students are
going to be like
what is this course about like why are
these steps in this order
so definitely spend a lot of time on
this i'd recommend spending at least one
to three days
outlining your course the next thing you
guys need to do is to pre-sell your
course
and a lot of people will skip a step
they'll spend hours and hours creating
their course
and then when they launch it no one's
buying it because well no one knows
about it
selling a course is actually a lot
harder than it seems because you know
it's hundreds of dollars probably and
while some people might be interested in
the course if you tell them about it
there really is a big barrier you have
to get them over in order for them to
actually commit hundreds of dollars
to buy your course what i recommend
doing you guys is to test the demand
because like i said before you don't
want to build
this whole course and have no one buy it
that would be a monumental waste
of your time one really great way to do
this is that you can actually sell your
course
without making the product yet i know a
lot of my friends that are successful
with their courses
they will not build the course until
they you know sign up
x amount of people another way that you
can do this is to just have an interest
list
give people an incentive to join this
wait list and then when your course
comes out you can just do a big
marketing campaign towards that email
list and hopefully that will convert
into some actual clients
basically that's what i did for my own
youtube course um i told people that
they would get a big discount if they
were to get onto the waitlist
and doing that i got over a thousand
people to join the waitlist and that was
very very important for my whole course
launch
email is extremely important and what
you guys will realize is that if you
want to
build a long lasting brand you will need
to get emails because
email marketing is one of those things
that has a very very good roi
i mean you're basically not spending any
money uh putting those emails out the
hard part is getting those emails but
once you get them
you're set now once you test this demand
and see that there is demand
make the course if there is no demand
then rethink your course
topic and perhaps choose something else
that might
sell better another great way to sell
your course before actually making it is
to create some type of freebie
now with a freebie this could be
something like a free pdf of the
best youtube niches tell people that
you'll give them this freebie if they
enter in their email
and what that does is you're exchanging
that free information
for their email and if they're
interested in getting that free pdf
well then obviously they are interested
in your course
topic so that should be pretty good when
it comes to launching your course
and of course the other strategy this
works really well with
high ticket items that cost over a
thousand dollars is to create some type
of webinar a webinar is basically a free
lecture where you give tons of
information
tons of value to your audience at the
end of that webinar
you're selling them on your full price
course and i find that that tends to do
really well for more expensive courses
yeah definitely tons of different ways
that you can pre-sell your course but
just know that
if you're making a course definitely
definitely don't skip the step
you want to get those sales or the
interest list first after you pre-sell
your course the next step is to actually
create it and i'm going to break this
down into three different parts
the first part is to create your slides
the second part is to film
and the third part is to edit all of it
together now when you're making your
slides i recommend using something like
keynote or google slides personally for
my own course
i used keynote because i have mac and i
just thought it was a cool platform to
use
some people will try to make a course
without slides but what i've realized is
that
people really want to view slides they
want to view
text as you're talking about it if it's
literally just yourself
talking and nothing else no supporting
text or anything like that then it's a
lot
harder for them to read and i feel like
you're able to give out a lot less
information so if you're deciding
between
you know not having any slides just
having a video of yourself talking
versus having slides and having a video
of yourself in like the corner i
recommend having the slides with at
least a little visual of yourself now
this brings us to the question should
you have
half page slides or should you have full
page slides i don't really think you can
go wrong with either but
personally for my course i chose to have
half page slides so basically half the
screen would be the slide
and half the screen would be me talking
to the camera i found out this is a
pretty good hybrid approach
because one you still have a slide right
half the page is a slide that you've
made in advance
and the other side is you talking
directly to the camera which increases
the engagement so once you've made these
slides the next part is to actually
film yourself and with filming you can
either put yourself in the corner with
like a little box
you can have only your voice or you can
have yourself as half of the screen
now i know i said that for my own course
i had a half page slide
with half page video of myself for most
people i'd actually recommend just
having a full page slide
and having only audio or a little video
of yourself in the corner this makes it
a lot easier to film and you're going to
be able to make
the course a lot faster it took me a lot
of time to fill
my course i mean i love the way it looks
because it's really cool to have the
half
slide half video look but if i were to
do it again i'd probably rather just
have notes
on the slides and just done some type of
voice over or having a little small
video of me
in the corner reading the slide after
you film the course and depending on how
long your course is this should take
maybe one
two three days this is where you have to
edit it all together using an editing
software how i did it was i recorded all
the video onto the sd card of my camera
i took the footage from the sd card and
imported it onto a solid state drive
then i edited everything together using
final cut pro on that external drive
after each single video was completed
and edited and exported
i put that video into a folder that
corresponded with the right module that
video was in
and that was really how i organized it
on this drive for your first course
all this is going to be pretty hard it's
going to be really out of your comfort
zone but i guarantee you once you make
your first course
the whole filming the making the slides
the editing together this becomes a lot
easier and your next course is going to
be a lot more simple to create okay the
next step after you've actually
made all your slides filmed it and added
them into separate videos
is to upload to a course hosting
platform now personally i use kajabi
this is a really great
all-in-one solution for hosting courses
but there are other platforms such as
teachable and thinkific and i'll link
them in the description below
they all have their benefits and cons
but i really don't think you can go
wrong with any of them now the reason
why i chose to go with kajabi was
because
this is a really great all-in-one
platform it handles your email marketing
it handles your landing page it handles
your
funnels it handles your whole community
it handles your courses and i found that
they had really great reviews so that's
why i went with them now the con with
kajabi is it is quite expensive but they
always have a free trial for you to test
them out
teachable and thinkific are really great
too they're a little bit cheaper but
they don't have as many features as
kajabi so now i'm going to take you into
my
own six figure youtube academy hosted on
kajabi and just show you kind of what it
looks like so this
is my main dashboard for the product and
you can see that
here's the outline basically i've
created all these different modules
and within those modules i've uploaded
different videos
corresponding to them so if i click on
this video you can see that
here you can upload any video that you
want so i can click video stats i can
click remove video and re-upload a
different one
and i can set the visibility so right
now it is published so my audience can
see it
um i can set the poster image and
here i create the title i create the
category
and then here i can write anything i
want if i do want to have a description
for the video
let me show you guys this particular
video um i actually have a description
here
and what you can also do is add
downloads so if you have like pdfs or
worksheets that you want your students
to actually work on you can put that
right there but i can click preview here
and it's going to show you what this
actually looks like
so this is what the course looks like to
your students
basically here is the whole outline of
your course with each video that they
can click
on and then this is the current video
that they are watching and if they
scroll down
they get the title and they get whatever
description you wrote right there
and also if you want to see my whole
landing page that i created in kajabi
now it looks pretty good they don't have
the most uh
complex and professional looking layouts
but i think that it works quite well
for my course and this is basically the
landing page that i created
you can see you can make all these
different blocks it looks good you can
have different colors different colored
buttons
and it's really optimized for getting
your potential student to actually want
to
buy the course here is my outline
and over here i have some more blocks
here and of course another enroll now
button so
basically yeah this is what my whole
landing page looks like yours could be
different they have different themes
that you can choose but this is just an
example of one page that was created
using kajabi okay so now after
you've uploaded your whole course onto
your course platform and you know
named every video organized everything
the way it should be
now it's time to actually launch it and
hopefully get your first
sales this is why that pre-sale that we
did earlier on
was so important right because if you
don't have that then your launch is a
lot
less likely to be successful most of
your first
clients most of your first students are
going to come from your email list
unless you have a huge social media
following then you might be able to get
students from there
but for most people email marketing is
the way to get your first students now
what i recommend you guys try and do
is to run some type of promotion with a
big discount
for your email list give them a reason
that they should buy it right now
and give them some scarcity one thing
you can say is i'm going to stop selling
this after three days because this is
the initial launch and this is my first
batch of students once you get sales in
those three days you can close off
enrollment
you know ask for feedback and actually
improve the course for your next
batch of students you'll notice that a
huge amount of your sales will come from
your initial launch and once that launch
is over
you might not have sales for quite a
while and this is where that continual
marketing of your course
comes in you want to always have people
discovering your course and getting in
on it one really great way to do this is
to have a freebie like i said
earlier run ads to this freebie or run
ads to a webinar
and have them join it and that way you
can get new leads for your course
continuously create some type of email
campaign that puts them on like a five
email drip and
always always email people you guys if
you email someone once
there's no way they're gonna buy your
course even if you email them like five
times there's a very small chance
they'll buy your course the best way to
convert these emails into sales is to
just
hit them with emails all the time i mean
you don't want to do it
too much where it gets super super
annoying but you do want to continually
be marketing to them the next step after
this initial launch is you want to start
getting testimonials and really as
you're making your course you'll realize
just how important testimonials are for
your conversions in converting potential
students
into actual students what i recommend
doing is reaching out to your current
students
asking them how they're liking the
course and then politely asking them if
they are willing to write you an email
with a testimonial
make you a quick video of themselves
talking about the course
or even posting onto a facebook group
saying how much they love the course
and also if they do have some really
great results definitely have them talk
about that because
those are going to be extremely helpful
for your testimonials once you have
these testimonials you can actually take
those videos or take screenshots
of whatever they're writing for you and
put them on your landing page
your checkout page and your emails
nowadays everyone is looking for reviews
and validation before purchasing
anything especially if it's going to be
a course that's hundreds of dollars or
even thousands of dollars
they want to see other people get
results they want to see other people
saying good things about the course
now finally guys once you've done all
the stuff you need to get
continual sales because if you don't get
sales all the time
then your course is not performing that
well i sort of mentioned this earlier
but there are
many different ways that you can
continually get new leads
for your course one is to run paid ads
on facebook
on instagram and any other social media
platform one thing you can
have in those ads is to get them to sign
up for your webinar
if they click on that ad and it brings
them to a landing page that landing page
should either encourage
them to sign up for a webinar or should
give them some type of freebie in
exchange for their email
these are more hot leads because if you
know that someone wants a freebie
related to your course content or
they're willing to sign up for a webinar
teaching about that exact same topic
then they are way more likely to
actually want to buy your course
now i know i didn't really talk about
creating a webinar in this whole video
but that could be a whole video on its
own creating a webinar is very complex
and it'll probably take you a long time
to do it but
what i found is that for anyone selling
high ticket items the webinar is what is
going to make or break your course
if you create a good webinar with lots
of great value and
a really good call to action to buy your
course then man you can make
a lot of great sales doing that so
definitely if your course is expensive
consider making that webinar and also
consider making that webinar if you
don't have a lot of organic traffic for
me i do have a pretty big youtube
channel so with that i
am able to create some good organic
traffic and sales but guys
this is really hard it's not that
scalable and for most people that don't
have a social media presence
just know that you don't need to have
that in order to have a successful
course you can absolutely
kill it running these ads getting leads
by giving them a freebie or a webinar
and then selling it to them that way in
conclusion you guys i just want to say
online courses are such a great
opportunity for anyone that wants to
teach online
there's so much money to be made here
and it really can be a passive source of
income
for a lot of people online education is
definitely trending up and in 2021 we
are going to see the most
core sales ever in the history of core
sales what i found is that people
really love learning through video and
they are willing to pay
hundreds or even thousands of dollars to
do so what you do is you create that
course once you spend a lot of time on
it
and after that you can keep selling this
course until it's outdated or you can
probably continue selling it for even
longer if you're
always updating the course the biggest
thing is you want to give
value in it once you give a lot of value
in your course people are going to love
it they're going to tell their friends
and you're going to get a lot of good
testimonials and in turn that's what is
going to make
your course successful so anyways i hope
you guys got some value out of this
video
definitely check out kajabi thinkific or
teachable if you are interested in
hosting your first
course and yeah i really wish you guys
the best of luck i know there is a lot
of opportunity in this space so that's
why i really encourage you guys to go
out there and make your course this year

that like button
