Hey good morning ladies and gentlemen
boys and girls so today I want to talk
to you all about something kind of
important especially this time of year
and you guys being resellers but I want
to tell you guys the cold hard truth
about video games I am going to show you
the orders and stuff like that I'll do
that here at the end of the video but I
kind of want to talk about video games
for a second because I have a Facebook
group if you guys don't know it's free
to join links down below shameless plug
anyway in my Facebook group I'm
constantly seeing people posting things
like let's say like something final
Facebook marketplace about video games
should I buy this you know what's it
worth this is worth picking up okay so
let me get tell you a little history
about myself
real fast we'll rewind so I actually
know a little bit about video games if
you guys don't know prior to me being in
the white collar world before becoming a
reseller and working out in my house I
did retail management I worked at a
store called books a million years and
years ago what feels like got millennia
ago started there in 2005 as a manager
stay there through 2008 from 2008 to
2011 I was a store manager at a
videogame retailer that you guys may be
aware of known as Game Stop now we won't
get into Game Stop because it's a not a
great company I'm not a big fan of it
the way they treated employees back then
and from what I understand it's much
worse now you know fast for almost 10
years since I left but anyway I do know
a few things about video games I'm
actually something that I actually
really enjoy video games it's one of my
pastimes if you guys don't know I
actually have a big Nintendo switch
collection I collect for the Nintendo
switch I like to buy games for it I
enjoy hunting for deals online and in
store and you know I don't really come
across any of these at garage sales yet
but I hope to one day you know my goal
is to one day have an entire set that's
gonna be many many years down the line
cuz I refuse to pay retail for stuff I
just not going to play but anyway so I
click that I have a huge digital library
for the Xbox one I have some ps4 games
mainly the exclusives there so I love
video games I'm not a real big retro
collector I'm kind of is just right now
the NES and SNES what you're trying to
get into collecting the the game prices
are too inflated if I come across them
that's up I
honestly for what I do for a living it
means more to me to sell it as I mainly
only collect with the switch otherwise
my office this room that we're in right
now wait and have any space to work in
it would all be video games right but
the flip side of that is with video
games is most video games and this is
what this is the sad truth most people
don't want to realize even when I just
showed you the switch games that I own a
lot of those have actually depreciated
about you maybe one day they'll
appreciate who knows but I don't buy
them for that reason but most video
games are mmm I don't want to say
worthless but they are very much bread
and butter salt and pepper items for
reselling uh you know you're looking at
it like you know for stuff like the Xbox
360 PSP some ps2 games ps3 especially
the Wii there's so much what we call
shovelware for the Wii you're looking at
games anywhere between the two to eight
dollar range shipped um so video games
are not like this Holy Grail magical
item even there's like you know let's
say you find on Facebook marketplace a
deal for 40 SNES games for a hundred
bucks you think it's a great deal well
if those are all like Vegas
stakes and you know ken griffey jr.
baseball or whatever you're gonna have a
hard time with that lot yes there are
absolutely gems for every system no
system is excluded there there are gems
even as for something as modern as the
Nintendo switch there are games that go
for two to four hundred dollars on the
secondary market
nothing is excluded from having gems but
by and large most video games are not
worth anything so you may be sitting
there to yourself well that sucks I'm
just finding this out you know what am I
supposed to do like I'm just not gonna
buy my garage sales anymore as I don't
know the values well I do have in my
facebook group links down below a
spreadsheet that highlights a lot of
titles to keep an eye out for for
various systems some of the the gems as
they say but I would also tell you that
there's a website that I utilize for my
own collection and for when I'm you know
pricing stuff out on eBay that I'm
selling price charting calm now price
charting calm many of you guys may not
be aware
what this is but essentially it's a it's
a massive historical database of eBay
sold prices for all its all video games
right so you type in a title you look
for the correct region so if you don't
know anything about video games
there's pal right pal is like Europe
their releases and I use the PEGI rating
system so when you're looking at game up
let's say like Namco Museum for the Xbox
and you have the North American version
you need to make sure you're not
selecting the PAL version when you're
looking at value because that could be
less or more depending on the game
there's also games that are printed in
Japan so you want to look at the region
code that's important when you're using
this website just kind of common
knowledge they ever if you don't know
anything about video games it's good to
know but price charting calm so I'm
gonna challenge my Facebook group
members and anyone watching this larger
base audience if you come across a lot
of video games on Facebook marketplace
here's what I want you to do I want you
to take like let's say it's like 30
games and they want $100 okay
how would you take five games at random
you do the whole list but instead of
going through a Facebook group and
waiting for people to weigh in go to
price trading calm plug those things in
and see what they're selling for so
price charting calm breaks things out
like if it's like cartridge or disk only
so it's gonna be one price it's gonna
dip its CI be complete and box or
complete in case with more modern games
that's gonna be a price and then new
sealed is going to have its own price so
keep that in mind too when you're
looking at prices don't just go for the
highest price thinking that's what it is
cuz that's the new sealed price if you
just have a disc of let's say you know
Mega Man X 8 or whatever ps2 if you just
have that disc it's not gonna go for as
much as let's say you had the case the
man or you know obviously if it's
factory sealed that's the other thing
with video games is and I'm not an
expert here but you're gonna want to
watch some videos if you think you have
like especially like I've seen this a
lot at thrift stores would not so much
now is they just can't find this stuff
but in thrift stores years and years and
years ago I would come across a sealed
SNES and NES box games but they were
actually real amman aided by maybe the
previous owner so you want to make sure
you can figure out what is actually a
factory still on what is a read reseal
job because if you sell to a collector
you know a $900 NES game that is sealed
and it's a reseal you're gonna have a
bad time as the seller so just all
things to keep in mind but yeah just
remember most video games like I love
video games I don't mind the fact that
they sell for a little bit less I'll if
I can get them at the right price
typically for ps3 Xbox 360 and Wii I
like to pay no more than a dollar a unit
for video games unless I know it's a gem
title that it's gonna sell for more
because typically they're gonna sell you
know three plus ship five plus ship
$9.99 plus ship that sort of thing so I
like to keep my buying costs relatively
low on these type of titles and of
course if you have a lot of titles that
are like two three dollars you can wait
so you have a good amount long together
and sell them that way make some profit
that's what I like to do as well but
yeah just remember not all video games
are crazy valuable it's a-you know even
going back to the NES SNES there's
plenty of games on there that are only
worth two three four bucks apiece
trust me on this one I have quite a few
NES games that are worth that much I
think I think I've sold through all the
NES games that took them all allotted
them but yeah there's I don't care what
system it is you're gonna have the games
that are sub $5 just because it's old
doesn't mean it's valuable anyways I
wanted to touch on that and just go over
it be yeah check out price charting comm
it's an awesome site highly recommend it
and of course you can you know use the
tried-and-true you know search souls on
eBay but what I like about price
charting is because it basically I think
it goes all the way back to like 2008 or
so but you can see the history like okay
it was here you can see how things are
trending is the turning up is it
trending down that kind of thing it
gives you a little bit more of a
historical context on the particular
item anyway I want to talk about that
want to get all the way we have a few
orders going out I think like five or
six things maybe less maybe more I don't
know but we gotta get a storage and look
at those but we also have a few things
at the house so we're going to pull
those now show them to you all right
first thing going out as a video game
for the ps3 call of duty black ops and
oh it's right here I listed this yes
and it sold fast if you were paying
attention in the b-roll actually uses
that as an example in the price charting
footage anyway it's called you black ops
that item right there sold for $4.99
plus 375 shipping I believe yeah $4.99
375 shoving 875 shipped before peace I
picked these games up from a viewer
actually I had a bull under $1 under
each one I bought a bunch of we and ps3
games and then these NASCAR models that
I've been working through I got all
those listed down there so yeah it was a
good bottom lion and I hope he was happy
with it
I didn't negotiate him down I just I
paid what he asked so I was happy with
it he I think he's happy with it so it
was a good deal for both of us
anyway it had like 80 cents let's say
you know this old 449 375 shipping not
the biggest like dollar amount profit
but I like that return as far as a
percentage perspective I don't mind
doing that as I've said earlier with
video games because they're so easy to
list you get literally less a hundred
video games in about two hours so yeah I
don't mind taking a little bit less net
dollar margins okay so I do have two
clothing pieces that I need to pull from
these bends here so let me do that and
I'll show that to you then we'll get out
the door and head to the storage units
alright so here's the clothing we have
going out first up is the st. John's Bay
bad buy on my part I bought a bunch of
these I have like ten of them I think
I'm down to the last one with this one
but I had I bought 10 of these little
like USA embroidered flag shirts one of
these when I bought them had a dollar a
piece into each one this one sold for
$8.99 plus 450 shipping it actually
though actually wasn't bad buy because I
was able to do multiple lists multiple
quantity on a single listing because
they were all new without tags so yeah
happy with that next up we have this
vintage forest in hue
denim Virginia Tech embroidered wants
the button-up shirt had this one for a
while I paid two dollars for that at a
Salvation Army sold for $19.99 plus
550 shipping it's a little bit heavy a
last clothing piece I have going out is
this is a pair of Nike athletic pants
women's crop athletic pants to be exact
anyway these I had 250 into these they
sold for 14 24 plus for 75 first five
shipping so everything else is going
be at the storage unit so let's go ahead
and head out the door now look at the
rest of the orders and wrap this bad boy
up all right we're at the storage unit
we don't actually have to enter the
second one today because there's nothing
in there that sold all right so from
that garage sale buy I had a Funko pop
sell Ken from Street Fighter fun game if
you guys don't know about it kind of in
the theme of video games oh he's right
here
so yeah Ken oh hello ken from Street
Fighter that's going out that sold for
$8.99 plus 450 shipping so yeah Ken
Street Fighter so we are in this unit
two little small things really and the
scheme of things a baseball glove and
not a high-dollar one sold this was item
I picked up at a garage sale I want to
say man last year sometime
that's a MacGregor I do have it marked
out as glove zero zero one so it's
probably in a bag most of my gloves
right here
it's a wilson true play this might be it
right here
yeah gloves here's your one this right
here it's just a McGregor mitt I'll paid
a dollar for this at a garage sale it's
kind of a little beat-up the sole for a
night 925 plus priority shipping that's
gonna go in a pad a flat rate envelope
but yeah you know not all baseball
gloves are created equal so I tried to
because I'm not super knowledgeable on
them
I know catcher's mitts are good for the
most part but I'm not super
knowledgeable in baseball gloves so I
just try to keep my bike all it's kind
of low because you may end up with one
like this that sells for like you know
nine bucks and shipping so anyway that's
going out and then last thing going out
is one of these little man I kind of
wish I never bought these things because
I've had them forever they're in this
tub over here it's a make it constructs
hero's Futurama bender figurine it's
gonna be in here let's crack this open
and I have a bunch of these guys I got
over a dollar piece through Walmart
clearance once upon a time there you go
there's bender so yeah I mean I have a
ton of them as you can see there but
yeah that's everything I heard he got
storage so thankfully
the storage unit is close to my house
because otherwise I would not be happy
to have to come out here for you know
handful of sales anyway uh that make it
constructs figures sold for $7.99 plus
450 first class shipping so yeah that's
all the orders going out and that's
gonna be it from today so I hope the
video game thing maybe helped you I
don't know I know a lot of you guys are
very knowledgeable in that field and
some of you may not know anything about
it at all so I hope it did help those
who needed it let me know down below
have you learned anything or at least
not an interesting it would be
appreciate it
anyway thank you for watching I'll
hopefully see you tomorrow and ya have a
video I need to put together I told you
all better yesterday something kind of
annoying that happened to me on eBay so
I want to address it talked about it in
a video as you know filming anyway
thanks for watching I'll catch you later
support tho channel links down below all
that fun stuff Facebook group blah blah
blah blah blah check the description see
