the Surfside PPC YouTube channel today
I'm gonna be talking about Google ads
for local businesses so really how to
run local ads for your business to
really target a local market and just
target the customers in that market so
if you go to Google right now and you
search anything near you some any type
of service so I just don't I have done
HVAC near me you're gonna see ads at the
top here so these are actually local
services ads these aren't the ones I'm
gonna be going through what I'm gonna be
going through is down here so these
types of advertisements right here now
if you have a local business you should
be running local services ads they're
very simple to set up you can get
started at Google so just go to ads
google.com slash local - services ads
and you can sign into your Google ads
account and what you can see down here
is it's three easy steps you sign up as
a service provider you set your budget
and you start your advertisements on
Google and Google is automatically gonna
serve your advertisements for the best
possible searches near you so I'd highly
recommend getting started with this
these are great advertisements and if
you just come to the top here you can
either call this number and a Google
specialist will help you set up your
account or you can click on get started
and go through the process you get to
see your connect with more customers
check eligibility and estimate your
spend and you can basically start or
pause your ads at any time so you
definitely want to do that but what I'm
gonna be talking about today is how to
also run advertisements down here
because just because there's local
services ads doesn't mean you can't
still run advertisements here as well so
for my example I am gonna be using hvac
I'm just gonna pretend like I'm running
ads for ars rescue Rooter obviously I
don't have an air conditioning business
to run advertisements for so I'm just
gonna pretend for this and I'm gonna
pretend I'm running them in my local
market in Myrtle Beach South Carolina so
what we're gonna do to get started is
sign into our Google ads account now one
other thing you definitely want to do if
you have a local business so I assume if
you're watching this video you probably
have a local business is create a Google
my business account so you just go to
google.com slash business you can create
an account right here so two things if
you're a local business coming to this
website here and creating a Google my
business account it's very simple
completely free
you can get a local business listing
just like this one you can see here so
it'll have your address you can put your
hours there you can put posts there you
can upload photos so it makes it a lot
easier for you to connect with your
customers on Google and then you also
run on and run local services ad so
people can easily book with you just
right through Google so obviously a lot
of people are using Google to find
service businesses so you definitely
want to be doing these two things but
what I'm gonna be showing you is a
little bit more complex and how to run
advertisements for your business to your
local market now what we're gonna do to
get started is we're gonna come to the
keyword planner here so I have my Google
Ads account open if you don't have a
Google Ads account yet you're not
familiar with Google ads at all I'd
highly recommend checking out our Google
ads tutorial for beginners so we just
created this it's for 2019 so we talked
about how to set up your Google Ads
account how to import conversions so a
lot of different things that you need to
know when you're getting started with
Google Ads so we're gonna do is come
over to our Google Ads account here so
when you sign into your Google Ads
account you come to tools and you go to
keyword planner you're gonna see a tool
that looks just like this and it's gonna
allow you to find new keywords and
basically create campaigns very easily
for your business so we're gonna start
here and just click on find new keywords
so one of the things you probably want
to do when you get started is just take
your URL so let's just say we're using
this page right here ARS comm slash air
conditioning take this URL copy that URL
come over to the keyword planner and
we're just gonna paste it right in there
okay so you can see here we enter the
URL now you could either use an entire
website so if your website is just
geared towards air conditioning repair
and you can use the entire website if
you have multiple services which you
might want to do is just this page only
and what that's gonna do is Google is
gonna pull keywords directly from your
page so you just do this page only here
and now we can continue to add more
keywords if we want so we could do
something like AC repair so we could do
HVAC repair maybe air conditioning
repair and we'll do AC repair near me
and then those are just the keywords
we're going to start with so we'll start
with all of them now we'll come in here
to get started so what that's gonna do
is it's gonna pull the top keywords
related to our business into the Google
Keyword planner and
can allow us to find the types of
keywords that we want to target now one
thing you can do when you're using the
Google Keyword planner is come up here
to locations you can see it says United
States at the top so we could just click
right here and we can enter our actual
location so I said I would I was gonna
be doing this for the Myrtle Beach
market so let's just say I type in
Myrtle Beach
and generally what you want to do is you
can use the city here but let's just say
you're serving the larger area so it's
gonna be Florence Myrtle Beach SC
so it's gonna be the Nielsen DMA region
so it's actually that the TV market
basically so you can use a larger market
here now what you can do is let's just
say I look and I scroll in a little bit
so you can see Myrtle Beach so I have
Murrells Inlet Pawleys Island Georgetown
let's just say I'm serving this entire
area so it's only a few hour drive to
all these places so for something like
AC repair you might want to serve a
larger market obviously because if
someone's replacing an air conditioning
unit or something like that it can be
thousands of dollars for example so you
don't have a problem driving a couple
hours to replace someone's air
conditioning unit obviously for smaller
businesses and things like that you
might just want to do the city that
you're in so you can do Myrtle Beach and
just do the city just like that so that
would be a much smaller area there so
you can see so it really depends on the
area that you serve but what you want to
enter here is the exact area that you
serve so for locations we target maybe
we'll do Murrells Inlet in Georgetown as
well so just kind of expand it a little
bit so we'll just include Georgetown
County South Carolina so that's gonna
include that entire county here so now
you can see we have a pretty large area
and let's just say this is what the
error that your business serves so we're
gonna click on save here so now what its
gonna do is it's gonna show the keywords
I provided it's gonna show the average
monthly searches for this exact region
here so the exact area that you target
it's important to do this for a local
business so you can try to find some of
the top keywords in your local market
and now we can start doing is building
our campaign a quick break from our

video okay so when we're building our
campaign there's actually a really easy
process to do it so what we're gonna do
is come over here to grouped ideas
rather than just looking at keyword
ideas
so with grouped ideas they're
automatically gonna create our ad groups
for us so the Google Keyword planner
will make it really easy to create
campaigns so if we look right here you
can see they have groups by relevance
and you can see they have conditioner
near and if we just look here it's gonna
be all similar keywords so air
conditioner repair near me near me air
conditioner maintenance near me repair
service technician so all of these are
gonna be pretty similar keywords grouped
together and then we can see there's
cooling repair so Heating and Cooling
repair so there's all these different
options that are gonna be right here so
what we can do is start to click on
these individual ad groups we can add
them to our plan and what I like to do
is just start these and just use them as
exact match keywords you could use
phrase match as well we're eventually
going to target the modified broad match
version of these keywords but I don't
like to target just the broad match
version if you watch any of my videos
you know that broad match end up being a
little bit too broad because it includes
the keywords that you're targeting and
close synonyms so rather what we're
gonna do is click on exact match here so
we're gonna take this one ad group here
and we're gonna click on add keywords so
now that's gonna start adding these to
our campaign okay and we're gonna keep
adding these groups to our campaign so
we're gonna take this one right here so
that says we have nine selected we're
gonna click on another one and you can
see it's gonna automatically create two
separate ad groups here so you can say
adding to two ad groups we can keep the
exact match version and what I'm gonna
do is just add all of these different ad
groups here and you can look at each
individual one and make sure that
they're all gonna be very relevant to
your business but usually the ones at
the top are gonna be the most relevant
so if we just look right here fix air
conditioner air conditioner fixed near
me even though the monthly search volume
is very low you still want to target all
these keywords and because you just
never know what people are gonna type in
when they're looking for AC service or
whatever service business you have or
whatever products you're trying to sell
so we can click on all the
here so air installation repair cost we
can always go through these keywords
later after we build our campaign and
just pause them I'd rather just add them
to my campaign because one of the things
that's gonna help us is adding more
keywords rather than keeping it very
limited so we can keep on clicking and
all these and we're gonna do one more
thing after we add all these at groups
so they click here they all look good
still so AC repair house house AC repair
so you can see there's a lot of
different options here so we can click
on AC insulation I'm not positive what
aircon repair is so I'm gonna leave that
one out for now so we're going to do air
conditioning companies HVAC repair we'll
do AC near so all these different
options we can do here to make sure that
we're adding all of these different ad
groups to our campaign right now we have
162 keyword selected and again we can
always go through those in the end I'm
gonna show you how to do that I'm gonna
show you each individual step by step
process for doing this because it could
be a little bit difficult especially
when you're first getting started so we
can keep coming down here we can see
repair home so home AC repair so we
don't want to do too many keywords
because eventually we might start to
have some issues where there's some
overlap so we're gonna do a few more of
these at the bottom they're gonna have
ungrouped keywords here so this is the
last final ad group so if we just look
at this we can see some of these ungroup
keywords are gonna be the most popular
keywords we have and once you add them
to your campaign and have them in your
account you're gonna see a message that
looks like this so I always set up
campaigns before I create these videos
so I can actually create them pretty
seamlessly so right now I have these
keywords in my account so if you're
already bidding on a keyword this is
what its gonna show here so we're gonna
get rid of this for right now and what
we're gonna do is put ad to plan we're
adding to 25 different ad groups so now
we're gonna have a bunch of different ad
groups in our campaign I'll show you
some really easy ways to make sure you
can create advertisements for that
campaign we have the exact match version
and we're gonna add keywords here so you
absolutely want to do this if you're a
local company obviously if you're
targeting a huge market you can focus
more on some of the top keywords but as
we come over here to keyword ideas what
we can do is make sure that these top
keywords up here so AC repair near me
air conditioning repair you
see there's a lot of average monthly
searches for these individual keywords
especially in our local market so what
we want to do is click on some of these
so we'll see AC repair near me and then
what you can do is click on adding to
and just find the best possible a group
for so you can see AC repair right here
we can add it we'll add it as an exact
match keyword and click on add keywords
so air conditioning repair we can add it
you could just add it to AC repair but
maybe we'll just do air repair here
we'll do exact match keywords and click
on add keywords so HVAC so we can do
this as well so you can see we already
have an HVAC repair ad group I don't
know why they don't group these together
sometimes so we're gonna click on add
keywords again last one we'll do AC
repair so we can click here and click on
AC repair click on add keywords so now
we can make sure so you can see it's
grouping the top keywords by relevance
and it also takes into account average
monthly searches as well so you can make
sure that you have all these top
keywords in your account and in your
campaign so you're targeting all of them
so heating an air repair we can add as
well so we'll just click on this we'll
just add it right to air repair exact
match add keywords there's no downside
to adding some of these keywords because
worst case scenario they end up not
driving conversions for your company and
you could end up pausing the keywords
but you'd rather test it then kind of
assume that some of these aren't going
to work for your business so heating an
air conditioning repair so again we
could just add it right to air repair
click on add keywords so you can see
there's a lot of different keywords
still here but right now I think we're
ready to start creating our campaign and
what we can do first is just come right
here to plan overview so this is gonna
give you some forecast data for your
campaign now one of the things to keep
in mind is if we click here to drop it
down you can see it's gonna show cost
right here and that's gonna take into
account the overall cost per month
forecasted for the next month and what
it's gonna do is look at the max cost
per click now if I click something like
over here it's egg mask max cost per
click $22 so don't worry too much about
the forecast data I would focus more on
what the max cost per click you're
willing to pay as you get started with
this campaign so if your average air
conditioning service let's say is $150
$200 between just servicing and main
and repair and all those different
things it's probably upwards of a couple
hundred dollars so you might say okay
I'm willing to spend we'll click right
here and you can just scroll down this a
little bit let's say you're willing to
spend six dollars per click so again
it's only showing it's gonna spend
twenty seven dollars per month I
wouldn't worry about that too much for
right now it's also showing a very low
click-through rate average cost per
click would be at around three dollars
and seven cents for this campaign so you
could always go up a little bit if you
want to and just kind of increase your
max cost per click but I'd rather keep
it a little bit low but just based on
the overall competition it's showing
you're probably gonna have to have a max
cost per click of at least around six
dollars for this type of campaign now if
you look over here you can set your max
cost per click to twenty dollars and
it's shown 240 for a campaign cost for
the month again that's still a very low
estimate if we click on the drop down
right here you can kind of look at some
of these different options here so you
can see your plan can get nine clicks if
we increase this a little bit it's gonna
show more clicks over the course of a
month if you do this for impressions you
can do the same thing as well
this is what I'm gonna show you how to
add modified broad match keywords to
your campaign because right now we're
just targeting exact match keywords so
what we're gonna do is come over here we
can do clicks and we're just gonna keep
it like this so now it's gonna create
our campaign and our max cost per click
is gonna be six dollars so that's what
it's gonna create our campaign with
across the entire campaign if you click
over here it's gonna start your campaign
with a max cost per click of twenty nine
dollars and I'll show you exactly what
that means as we go so what we're gonna
do now is click on create campaign so
our campaign name what we're gonna do is
AC repair Myrtle Beach area okay you
could put your company name whatever it
is average daily budget so it's gonna
say recommended one dollar and seventy
five cents
we'll just do that for now you obviously
want to increase your daily budget you
might wanted to start with a smaller
daily budget until you can kind of
optimize your campaign a little bit so
it it's overall it depends on how much
you're willing to spend for the month if
you want to spend something like $300
for the month then you would set an
average daily budget of $10 if you want
to spend $3,000 for the month set an
average daily budget of $100 per day so
you're just looking at your average
daily what you're willing to spend right
I'll just keep at $1 75 if I was gonna
create this campaign I would probably
started at 10 to $15 so we could do
something like $15 here I obviously
don't want this campaign to run I'm not
running this campaign from actual
business I'm just doing it for the
purpose of this tutorial so I'm just
gonna click on the recommended budget
from now cuz I don't want to start
spending a lot of money on this campaign
in my own account so we can click on
save here okay so now it's gonna say
congratulations your new campaign is
almost ready and we can click on create
ads so I'm not gonna do this right now
so rather than creating ads for each
individual ad group what I'm gonna do is
just click off to the side click on
cancel here so you should come to a
screen that looks something like this so
what you can do is come back over here
click on all campaigns and it's gonna
show all the campaigns that you have
running actively and you can see our
campaign here AC repair Myrtle Beach
area so this is the campaign that we've
just created so what I want to do first
is click on this campaign we're gonna
come over here to settings and what we
can see is campaign name is gonna be
whatever we named it campaign status
will show enabled goal so now you really
want to set a goal for this campaign
even if you just want to drive website
traffic for now but really what you want
to do is drive sales drive leads and one
of the ways you can do that is if we
click on tools up here and under
measurement we look at conversion so
we're gonna open this in a new tab here
but what you would want to do is drive
leads so you'd want to create
conversions like phone calls I don't
have a follow-up video for how to set
phone call conversions or you'd want to
set a conversion action like for example
we come to conversions here you can see
we have a bunch of different conversions
created so you can create them through
Google Analytics or you can create them
directly through Google Ads and if you
click on add a conversion you can do
something like a website conversion and
you can do category lead enter a
conversion name so we'll do sample AC
conversion so value so you can set
different values for your conversion or
you can just use the same value which
generally is just gonna set it to one
u.s. dollar so you don't really need to
worry about value too much if you're not
trying to put a value on each individual
conversion you can always do that later
as you start to collect more data but
this is really more useful when you're
selling specific products or if you have
specifics
services that you're selling on your
website for specific prices so count so
how many conversions per click or
interaction we could just do every or
one so every will count every single
time someone does it so usually that's
more recommended for purchases one is
gonna be more recommended for leads so
if the same person contacts us two times
in a row you might not want to count it
as two individual conversions you might
just want to count it as one because
it's just gonna leave to one a/c repair
job so conversion window will do 30 days
you can do including conversions here
attribution models so right now it's
showing last click so you can just keep
it just like that or you can change it
to one of these other attribution models
again this is a little bit more advanced
as we go view through a conversion
window I'll just leave it add one day
and then you can do enable and hand CPC
to increase conversions campaigns
currently using manual CPC so we'll do
that we'll click on create and continue
so now what you want to do is setup your
tag so you can either use Google tag
manager you can install the tag directly
onto your website or you can email the
tag to a developer so let's just say we
use Google tag manager so it's gonna say
use it to install the conversion
tracking tag again I'm gonna have a
Google tag manager tutorial out as well
so a lot that goes into these campaigns
especially when you're trying to drive
conversions and get the most out of your
campaign so now we click on done here ok
so that's one way to set up a conversion
for your website but what you're gonna
need to do is take that tag and add it
to your website using either Google tag
manager or adding it directly to your
website so there's a lot of guides on
how to do this how to set up conversion
tracking for Google Ads
so I'm not gonna go through this right
now with Google tag manager or with
Google Ads so what we can do for right
now I'm just gonna remove this lead for
the website I like to use analytics as
my source so what we're gonna do is I'm
gonna show you if you click on tools
here you come to setup you go to linked
accounts so if you open the linked
accounts page you're gonna see something
that looks like this if you click on
details for Google Analytics you can
actually link your Google Analytics
account to your Google Ads account so if
we click on analytics here what we can
see here is under property there's
Google Ads linking so now we're in our
Google Analytics account for Surfside
PPC if we click on Google ads linking
you can see we have one linked account
we're linked to our Google Ads
count so that allows them to basically
communicate with each other and allows
us to import conversions so conversions
in Google Analytics are referred to as
goals so if you're in your Google
Analytics account you want to click on
the admin screen down here at the bottom
left hand corner so if some of this
stuff seems to be a little bit too
complicated as we go through it you
might want to hire a professional to get
started with some of these different
options like creating campaigns setting
up conversion tracking because it can be
very difficult especially when you're
first getting started but basically what
you need is a Google Ads account a
Google Analytics account and when you're
in your Google Ads account you just come
to tools up here and you click on the
linked accounts and as long as you have
them set up through the same email it's
very simple to link your accounts
together your account will show right up
when you come in here to linked account
and click on Google Analytics click on
details and it's gonna show your account
you can link the account together and
then when you're in Google Analytics
what you can do is under the admin
screen it's come here to goals so you
have both of your accounts linked now
and you can create a new goal so we can
click on new goal here and it's gonna
say goal setup you can either click a
template or you could just do something
like custom so if we click on custom
click on continue so we'll do a see
repair goal sample and let's say anytime
someone reaches a certain page so maybe
it's confirm appointment or something
like that we can do destination so
anytime they reach a certain page we can
click on continue the destination equals
to so what we can do is confirm
appointment so that means any time
someone reaches this page that means
that they've set up an appointment on
your website so you really need to know
kind of go through the process of
confirming an appointment on your
website you can also do this for phone
calls as well I am gonna have a video
about that so you could say gold details
destination equals to confirm
appointment so you can set a value for
each individual appointment you don't
need to do that if you click on verify
this goal and you are getting people
that are contacting your business then
it should show some type of data here
based on the past 7 days I'm obviously
not gonna have this I don't have a page
on my website for confirm appointment
but if I had Surfside PPC comm slash
confirm appointment let's say
anytime someone set up an appointment
with me then I can actually optimize for
people actually seeing this page after
they click on my Google ads so I can
click on save here so what we can see is
you can see AC repair goal sample it's a
destination goal here so you can see
just an example contact form submitted
is a destination goal I don't actually
have my contact form active right now so
it's not showing any past seven-day
conversions but I also have my
newsletter and free giveaway or
newsletter and giveaway page so anytime
someone reaches that page it counts as a
conversion so anytime someone actually
signs up for my newsletter it counts as
a conversion here and I can optimize for
that in Google Ads so just one way to
kind of look at conversion actions you
don't necessarily need to do this but it
is gonna help with your campaign as you
continue to run it so now we can do is
come back up here to conversion actions
for Surfside PPC we can click on to add
a new conversion we can click on import
from Google Analytics and it's going to
import that conversion so AC repair goal
sample the same one we just created
right here so now we're able to optimize
for anytime someone visits that confirm
appointment page on our website and we
can make sure our Google Ads campaigns
are optimizing for that goal so it's
gonna help us get more contact form
fills it's gonna help us get more people
to call our business especially as we
import a phone call here as well so we
click on that we can click on import and
continue so now it says you've imported
one goal from Google Analytics we can
click on done we can come right here to
AC repair goal sample and then what we
want to do is we'll click on edit
settings and we want to make sure it's
included in conversions and you can keep
everything else exactly the same so
category you can change it to lead so
rather than other you can change it to
lead and we'll click on save here and
now we can click on done so now what we
can do is come back over to our campaign
so we have this all set up now so we're
optimizing for our conversion in our
Google Ads account we can click right
here come back to Surfside PPC okay so
now we're coming back to our campaign
screen here so you can see our AC repair
Myrtle Beach area campaign you can see
all our different ad groups what I'd
like to do is just go to settings and
make sure that we have our goal so it's
gonna say no goal selected we can click
on
leads here click on save so now our goal
was to get leads for this campaign so
it's gonna take in some of the lead
conversion actions that we've created
you can see networks is gonna be Google
search Network and we can include Google
search partners here so there's no
downside to including Google search
partners you do not want to include the
Google Display Network for this campaign
we're gonna click on save
so locations is gonna pull in the
locations that we set originally and
under the location options what I like
to do is target people in my targeted
locations so that's gonna make sure that
only people that are located in this
region and in this region are gonna see
our advertisements rather than people
who are in or show interest in so we
just want people in the targeted
locations and then exclude we can keep
as is we can click on save a quick break
from our video for one of my favorite

now back to our video so now we're all
set up to start creating our
advertisements and we want to add
modified broad match keywords as well so
what I can do is come to add groups
first and if I click on this individual
agar for HVAC companies you can see
we're targeting all exact match versions
of this keyword okay so now what we can
do next is add some of the modified
broad match versions of our keywords but
what we can do is just click on the plus
sign here and we can come down here to
the
and you can see HVAC companies HVAC
repair companies local HVAC companies so
if we just add one modified broad match
keyword so we're gonna do plus HVAC Plus
companies so the plus sign indicates
that this individual word and this
individual word needs to be in the
search query so it's gonna make sure
that we're only targeting people that
are typing in HVAC companies and it's it
gonna include all of these so HVAC
repair companies local HVAC companies so
let's say someone goes into Google and
they search HVAC repair companies so
since it includes the word HVAC here and
companies it's gonna also target this
modified broad match keywords so it's
gonna allow us to target a lot of
different keywords by adding this
modified broad match version of it and
you only need to add this one keyword
here so what we can do is keep it just
like this we can click on save and now
you can see it's gonna show HVAC
companies here it's gonna use the same
max CPC bit as some of these other ones
so what you could do is get rid of some
of these exact match versions if you
want this is just another way to kind of
look at keywords I like to target a lot
of different keywords there's a lot of
different ways to do this but if you do
this like this and you target this
modified broad match keyword we're just
gonna come over here to max cost per
click and we're gonna lower it from six
dollars to five dollars and fifty cents
so now we're bidding a little bit lower
on this modified broad match keywords
and if someone types in any of these
exact match keywords then we can make
sure that we're bidding a little bit
higher on them so there is gonna be a
lot of competition for this individual
industry because there's a lot of AC
repair companies that are trying to get
business through Google Ads so what we
can do is come back over here to our ad
groups so we just click on AC repair
Myrtle Beach okay so we've already added
one to HVAC companies now we want to do
this for each individual ad group now so
again this is gonna take a little bit of
time so one thing we can do is if we
come back over to the keyword planner we
do the same exact search up here we
enter the same locations we can focus on
some of these top keywords so you can
see AC repair near me air conditioning
repair so if we come over to our ad
groups we can just focus on those ones
for the time being so we already did
HVAC companies so if we scroll down a
little bit we can come into AC Mir so
we'll click on this ad group come over
to keyword I
is you can see AC repair near me so we
can come over here and just click on add
another keyword and do AC repair near
okay so pretty simple so AC repair near
me we can click on save and you can also
see some of these top keywords over to
the right hand side here so they have
window air conditioner air conditioning
repair so you can use this as well and
just kind of go through each one and
make sure that you're targeting all of
these top keywords so we can do air
conditioning repair next so we're gonna
come back over to our ad groups and we
can click on ad groups to the left here
so we can scroll down so you can see AC
repair so maybe we'll just use this
individual ad group we'll click on it
and we can click on plus and we'll do AC
repair click on save come back over here
click on ad groups okay in the last one
we're gonna go into air repair we're
gonna click on add new keyword and you
can make sure you're adding all these
individual keywords so we have air
conditioning repair so we'll click on
air conditioning repair so we'll click
on save here so now that's gonna allow
us to target more keywords especially if
we're using some of these top keywords
here so I would continue to go through
and add all of these top keywords to
each of the correct ad groups so again
this can take a little bit of time
obviously but what you can do is just
come into these different ad groups as
we come up here to our campaign and you
can look at keywords you can just click
on the entire campaign and you can see
we start with HVAC companies you can
make sure you have HVAC companies here
you have cooling repairs so it's gonna
show Heating and Cooling repair so what
we can do is just click on the plus sign
right here scroll down a little bit so
we're looking at cooling repair we
select that ad group and we just do
cooling repair so there's different ways
to do this you're gonna get better at
this as you continue to add more
keywords we click on save so now you can
see we have our HVAC companies we have
cooling repairs we can keep scrolling
down heating companies so we're not
going to do that one fix AC so we can do
AC fix so we'll just click on add a new
keyword here so we'll click on fix AC
right here and what we can do is just do
AC fix and you don't need to worry about
the order of these keywords at all it's
just as long as these two words are in
the search query then we can target them
with our ads
so we can click on save here so it's
really that simple
and we can keep going through these but
I'm gonna stop this for now so you can
also do local air conditioning you can
do so we'll do one more here so you can
see conditioner fix so we click on the
plus sign so again we're in the keywords
for our entire campaign right now so you
can see fixed air conditioner so we'll
click on the plus sign so we're gonna go
to conditioner fix and we can do fix air
conditioner so this is the probably the
best way to really create your campaigns
and make sure that you're targeting all
the correct keywords and again what you
would want to do with these plus sign
keywords is make sure you're only
bidding five dollars and fifty cents so
we'll just come here bid slightly lower
on these keywords because they're gonna
be a little bit more broad than our
exact match keyword versions and again
you're gonna start getting more data for
your campaign you're gonna see how much
you're actually spending and as you do
that you can always increase or decrease
your bids one way to do that across your
entire campaign is to come here to your
campaign go to keywords so we're looking
at the keywords for the entire campaign
you can click on it you can click on
edit and you can do change max CPC bids
and you can set new bids across your
entire campaign you can increase bids by
a certain percentage and set an upper
bid limit so let's say I want to
increase it to maybe slightly higher
than $6 but I don't want it to go over
eight dollars I can do increased bids by
twenty percent my upper bid limit would
be $8 click on apply and now it's gonna
increase bids across the entire campaign
and you can make sure you're not bidding
too high here but now you can see we're
bidding seven dollars and 20 cents on
our exact match keywords and six dollars
and sixty cents on our modified broad
match keywords so again this is starting
to get a little bit more advanced as we
set up this campaign but Google Ads is a
difficult PPC channel but figure out
especially when you're first getting
started so what I would do if I were you
is making sure that each individual ad
group had at least one modified broad
match keyword in there and if you just
came here to repair cost and you look at
all these different keywords you can see
AC repair cost I would just add AC
repair cost maybe HVAC repair cost so we
can add those two we can do AC repair
cost
HVAC repair cost so doing this is gonna
allow you to target more keywords that
people are typing in and it's gonna
allow you to lower your cost per click
over time so we'll just keep it at the
six dollar bid for right now you can
always decrease your bids if you go back
into all your keywords here so that's
one way to kind of look at adding
different keywords to your campaign and
now the last two things you need to do
is create ads and ad extensions so we're
gonna come here to ads and ad extensions
I'm going to show you a really easy way
to create this so if we click on create
ad we can use responsive search ads here
so if you don't have responsive search
ads you're gonna need to create expanded
text ads but we can just start with one
individual ad group here for now so we
can say AC installation so what we're
gonna do to figure out the best possible
headlines we're gonna make sure we're
adding all of the headlines that we can
okay so you can see we have all these
different headlines here so what we're
gonna do is come over to keyword ideas
and we're gonna look at the top keywords
so we have AC repair near me HVAC
companies I don't like to use near me
too often so what we can do is just AC
repair HVAC company HVAC repair so we're
gonna start adding some of these
different keywords so we can do AC
repair and we'll do air conditioning
repair HVAC repair could do HVAC company
we can do air content conditioning
company and the way these ads are gonna
work is Google is gonna continue to use
these different headlines in our
responsive search ads and you can make
sure that these parts of the headline
show up in the first part so you can say
show this headline in position one only
so this is position one position to
position three so now what we can do is
as we add some of these top keywords
here that people are typing in you can
also enter your brand name so let's just
say we do a RS rescue Rooter and you can
make sure this shows up in position two
and then maybe in position three you
just want to do something like fast
service and low prices so now you can
create a bunch of different
advertisements for all of your different
ad groups here and you can see we have
AC repair
air conditioning repair hvac repair now
truthfully if it's me creating the
campaign I would go into each individual
ad group create one expanded text ad at
least and one responsive search ad for
each individual ad group what we can do
is use this responsive search ad across
our campaign I'll show you how to do
that so we have AC repair air
conditioning repair we're gonna pin all
of these to position one and what that's
gonna do is it's gonna make sure our
advertisements are really geared towards
the keywords that people are typing in
so if someone types in air conditioning
company near me they would see an ad
that looks like this air conditioning
company headline two would look like a
RS rescue Rooter and headline three
would say fast service and low prices so
you can also do something like call
today for service and we can pin that in
position three as well so you can kind
of add more headlines to your individual
advertisements and I've done a tutorial
about responsive search ads so if you
want to learn a little bit more about
them you can what you want to do is make
sure in your final URL you come up here
and take our ARS comm slash air
conditioning when I come back over enter
into the final URL display URL you can
do AC repair here so it's a pretty
simple process as you start getting into
it you can see our ad strength is shown
as poor right now it's saying add more
headlines make your headlines more
unique so that's actually good for right
now
and it's gonna say make your
descriptions more unique so what I would
do is come back over to the keyword
planner and make sure we have all of
these different types of keywords added
to our campaign so we have HVAC
companies so you can do air conditioner
repair AC repair company so let's make
sure we have both of those so we have
air conditioning repair we can do AC
repair company we can do we repair your
AC so we could do AC service and
replacement okay so you can use a few of
these different options here and you can
pin these to position three if you want
you can pin them to position one so AC
repair company I would pin to position
one AC service and replacement maybe I
would just do position one as well so
you have a lot of different options you
definitely want to use these top
keywords here so H
company's air conditioning repairs so
anything that has the most average
monthly searches per month because then
you can make sure that your ads are
really geared towards what people are
typing in so what I would do is continue
to fill out these different headlines
here maybe you add more for position
three you can just keep your brand name
as the only one for position two and you
can see right here HVAC company ARS
rescue order we repair your AC AC repair
company eros rescue order call today for
service so pretty good advertisements as
we're getting started now the last thing
you want to do is add four descriptions
here I'm just gonna add two descriptions
for right now so what it's pulling on
right now is ideas based on your final
URL and existing advertisements so these
are actual ads that air s rescue Rooter
is running so you can see some of the
descriptions are running 24/7 AC repair
installation and maintenance from ARS
rescue Rooter so if we click on this
other one it's gonna say all work backed
by our exceptional service guarantee so
you can take this first one and we'll do
24/7 you can come into the second
description line here and click on this
and then you can just pin this to
position one pin this one to position
two and you can add more descriptions
here so you can say something like AC
repair starts $60 or $60 call ARS rescue
Rooter for okay so now we have AC repair
starts at $60 call RS rescue Rooter for
air conditioning service today we can
pin that to position one and what
Google's gonna do is it's going to serve
a bunch of different advertisements for
each individual keyword that people are
typing in and as they get more data
about your campaign they're gonna serve
the best-performing responsive search
ads based on the types of keywords that
people are typing in so now what we can
do is click on save new ad here and you
can see we have this one ad here under
AC installation so we can click on this
advertisement so now we're gonna do is
click on it we're gonna click on edit
and we're gonna click on copy so now
we're gonna do is paste this into these
ad groups of our campaign so what we can
see is if we click on paste here it's
already in this ad group so we're gonna
come over here to our campaign we're
gonna click on ad groups so what I like
to do is do this by alphabetical order
so I can keep track of where I've added
these already so you can see we already
have it in
I see insulation and what I'm gonna do
is click on AC near so now it's gonna
pull up our key words we're gonna come
to ads and extensions here so we don't
have any ads yet so we're just gonna
click on paste so now we're gonna paste
this one ad into this one ad group and
what we can do is click on pause new ads
after pasting if we want you don't have
to pause them so we can just click on
paste and it's gonna take that
responsive search ad and we're gonna be
able to pace it across our campaign now
personally I would do this using Google
ads editor but I don't want to kind of
mix too many things into this one
individual tutorial so we're just gonna
keep it like this for now we're gonna
come back over to our campaign we're
gonna come back over to ad groups and
you can see we have it in AC
installation AC near come back over to
ad groups and next we're gonna do AC
near companies so now we're in this
individual ad group here and what we can
do is come to ads and extensions again
and we're gonna click on paste so we can
paste this into this ad group as well
okay so now we have this advertisement
right here so you really want to fill
out your entire responsive search ad
because rather than running a bunch of
different ads for each individual ad
group Google is gonna continue to serve
the best possible responsive search ads
depending on the keywords that people
are typing in so if we come here it's
gonna say AC repair companies near me so
we're gonna kind of use one of those
advertisements that says AC repair or
air conditioning repair company or one
of those types of keywords is going to
be used in the headline to make sure
it's really matching what people are
typing in so that's one of the best ways
to create advertisements now there's a
few other strategies that you can use
one thing is dynamic keyword insertion
again we're starting to get a little bit
more advanced as we create some of these
tutorials so what we can do is come back
over here click on AC repair Myrtle
Beach we can look at our ad groups and
what we can see is we have AC
installation AC near AC near companies
so next is AC near service so we click
on this you can see all of our keywords
here we can come to ads and extensions
and we can click on paste again so we're
gonna paste it again okay so we have our
advertisement in here and you want to
continue to do this for each individual
ad group to make sure that you're
running at least one advertisement in
each ad group and a responsive search ad
is one of the best ways to create a
dynamic ad for
each ad group that you're running so we
can come over here click on the campaign
and it's gonna automatically pulp ads in
extensions and you can see the ad groups
you've added to already and then as you
come over here to ad groups you can just
make sure you keep going down so we have
a senior service next is AC repair so we
just click on this come to ads and
extensions and we're gonna click on
paste so we're gonna paste it in here
now the last thing I want to show you is
extensions so once you add all of your
advertisements to your campaign
you want to add ad extensions for it so
again this is a very complicated video
as we continue to go into it it just
shows you all the different features of
Google ads and it's really the thing
that takes you know kind of splits apart
the great advertisers and the great
campaigns from some of the campaigns
that aren't set up as well so we have
ads and extensions here come to all
campaigns so if you're kind of looking
at this and you're saying this is
starting to get a little bit too
complicated that's how you know you
really want to start hiring a PPC
advertising agency because they're gonna
be able to set up these campaigns for
you even if you say I'm gonna hire an
agency for three months have them set up
my conversion tracking have them set up
my campaigns and make sure they're
setting up all my different
advertisements and then creating
extensions as well so extensions are
gonna allow you to add more information
to all of your advertisements so if we
click on extensions here we click on the
plus sign you can see there's a lot of
options so there's sitelink extensions
so you can show links to specific pages
of your website
there's call-out extensions now a few
that I really want to show you is call
extensions so if you click on this you
can add your phone number to your actual
advertisement here so these are example
of site links so you can add things like
HVAC repair air conditioning services so
one way to look at site links is if we
come over to ARS comm you can see air
conditioning repair air conditioning
installation air conditioning
maintenance and air conditioning
components you can add all four of these
pages because they're all separate pages
as your ad extension sitelink extensions
so one way to kind of look at it we have
an extensions tutorial on our channel as
well so if you're watching this and
you're saying I have no idea where to
get started what you can do is come over
to our YouTube channel and go to our
tutorial playlist I will put this link
in the video description for this
individual video I'd highly recommend

Google ad strategies can be very helpful

tutorial but this one's a little bit
older I need to actually create a new
one we have a keyword research tutorial
for Google Ads so we kind of went over
that in this video so and then some of
these other types of videos can be very
helpful for you as well so one right
here is Google ads ad extensions
explained this will be a very helpful
one for you Google ads bid strategies
explain another helpful one and then you
can kind of learn things like how to
improve your click-through rate as
you're running your campaign how to
create great Google ads so as we scroll
down here a little bit more so this is
one I want to show you so responsive
search ads best practices that can be
very helpful Google ads and Bing ads and
negative keywords so all of these will
really help you as you're building your
campaign and one thing you can do is
import this campaign into Bing as well
so again I don't want to get into too
much into this video but there's so much
that you can do as you start creating
campaigns for your business so let's
just say you set aside an extra five
hundred dollars a month on advertising
you really want to do this it's it's
kind of complicated so a lot of
advertisers aren't doing it as much or
they're hiring companies to do it for
them so I'd highly recommend either
taking that budget and hiring a company
to help you set all this up or learning
through some of these video tutorials
it's all free content I'm not trying to
sell you anything I'm really just trying
to give you the keys so you can start to
create some advertisements and create
some campaigns for your own business now
I'm gonna be coming out with a free
Google Ads course so that can really
apply to any single type of business and
I'm doing that because I realize how
difficult Google Ads can be especially
for new advertisers so now we're gonna
come back over here so we're in ads and
extensions so if you really want to
learn more I highly recommend checking
out some of the videos on our channel so

extensions will allow you to show links
to specific pages of your website
call-out extension so you can use for
things like some promotions you're
running you can say something like you
know prices start at $60 for individual
maintenance or something like that we
have structured
snippin extensions so you can highlight
specific aspects of your product or
service so you can list have a list of
the different services you provide call
extensions so people can actually call
your business directly on their mobile
phone or see your phone number when they
search on a desktop device message
extensions people can either text
message you or send you an email
directly from your advertisements so
they can say hey I'm interested in XYZ
how much is that going to cost me
so we keep scrolling down there's price
extensions so you can list the prices of
how much your products or services cost
you can see you can say air conditioning
installation starts at let's say twenty
five hundred dollars and moves up from
there you can put location extensions so
people know exactly where your location
is and you can do promotion extensions
so maybe you say you know 10% off
services over a thousand dollars or
something like that so a lot of
different options when you're setting up
your advertisements and again creating
ads on Google can be very difficult but
really what you want is you want a
campaign and we went over the settings
you want to be targeting the search
Network it's gonna look just like this
so you want to be targeting the search
Network you come in here to settings you
really want to be focused on driving
leads for your campaign so that's why I
went over a conversion tracking before
so if you come up to tools here again
this is how you come back to the keyword
planner you can set your bid strategies
here under measurement you can set up
conversions you can click on Google
Analytics here to make sure that you
have your Google Analytics account
linked or you can come to linked
accounts here so what we can do is you
can see campaign name a/c repair Myrtle
Beach area so where our goal is leads
we're targeting the Google search
Network and search partners or just
targeting our locations here and under
the location options we're only
targeting people in our targeted
locations so we're gonna come back here
and click on cancel so our budget so you
can always increase your budget I just
have this low for right now because I
don't want to start spending a ton of
money on this campaign that I don't
really want to be running but you can
increase your budget as you go and think
of this as a monthly budget so if you
have let's say nine hundred dollar
budget for the month just set it to $30
and it's gonna spend about nine hundred
dollars by the end of the month
regardless of how many days there are so
you might spend a little bit more in 31
days but don't worry about those types
things just focus on a monthly budget
and divide it by 30 that's generally
what I do
so now bidding so right now it has CPC
enhanced so as you start driving more
conversions for your campaign you can
start to increase your bids or you can
start to change your bid strategy to
some of the automated bid strategies so
if we click on change bid strategy here
you can see what do you want to focus on
conversions so you can use the maximize
conversions option or what I like to do
is we click on conversion value you can
use it target return on adspend
so a lot of different options but you
really need to start driving conversions
first so that's one of the biggest
difficulties when using Google Ads
campaigns it's why I don't have a
problem with companies that want to
spend a little bit extra and go with a
PPC agency that has you know some
experience running some of these
campaigns because it's really difficult
to get started as you go so that's
pretty much it so now we have our
settings all set up so we come into our
ad groups you can see we separate out
our keywords into different ad groups we
have our default max CPC just for that
individual ad group but if we click on
keywords here we have our different
keywords that we're bidding on and you
can go through this list and make sure
you want to bid on all these different
keywords if something doesn't seem that
relevant you can always just come over
here and pause it for the time being or
as you start to get some data so clicks
impressions you start to see an average
CPC and whether or not you're getting
conversions for this individual keyword
you can start to polish your keywords
and then last but not least ads and
extensions so you can add your
extensions at the ad group level and you
want to create this advertisement so use
this responsive search ad and add it to
each individual ad group and then from
there you start to run your campaign you
start to get some data and as you start
getting data it becomes much easier to
optimize your campaign so that's pretty
much it if you have any questions leave

one way to create a Google Ads campaign
especially if you're a local small
