hi everyone my name is Miki welcome back
to lace-up solutions in case you forgot
some number one DSD software in the
market today I wanted to take a moment
to discuss with you how you can get
approved to become a Walmart vendor so
becoming a Walmart vendor is very simple
there are some requirements there are
some recommendations that I have for you
and there are some actual steps that you
can take today to get started so
regarding the requirements they're
pretty simple number one you must have a
tax ID which means you must have a
company of some kind setup or a legal
entity setup number two you must have a
Duns number I will link Duns in the
description below so you can get your
Duns number number three you must carry
product liability insurance and a couple
other insurance types again I'll link
the article from Walmart down in the
description so you can get your
insurances number four
you must have UPC's for all of your
items and number five your products
cannot be restricted so restricted
products include adult products violence
products products that promote
aggression you know the typical
restricted items it can be one of those
so those are the requirements now I'm
going to present you a couple
recommended requirements number one
think about what really differentiates
your products from those available at
Walmart if you have a product that's
identical to all those in Walmart you
are likely to not be approved to be a
Walmart vendor you must in your mind
start formulating what the
differentiating factors are of your
product versus those that are already in
Walmart if you want to get a sample of
what's already one more go to your
nearby Walmart or go to a few stores in
your city and see if they have a lot of
products like the one that you're
offering again your product must be
different enough for one more to approve
you number two the second recommendation
that I have is most walmart buyers
prefer that you have a product line
because it takes so much time and effort
to approve you as a vendor they want you
to have a line of products in case one
product doesn't work you have other
products to choose from so you can find
a successful product to have at Walmart
so number two the second recommendation
is have a product line have more than
one item that is going to increase your
probability of getting approved now I
want to talk about the actual process to
get approved to get into Walmart the
first thing that you want to do is you
want to go to corporate walmart.com
forward slash suppliers okay when you
get here this is where you're going to
register for your retail linked account
okay now once you get the invitation
from retail link and make sure to fill
it out and then make sure to submit it
at which point you'll be granted access
to retail link now once you're granted
access to retail link you want to set up
your supplier profile okay this supplier
profile is critical to you getting
approved because this is your presence
on one write system and it's what all of
the buyers are going to see before they
approve or decline you so when you set
up this supplier the supplier profile
make sure that you go online and go to
google and type in the best practices
for the supplier profile make sure you
take beautiful pictures to make sure
that your descriptions are clear and
understandable you want the buyers to
give you an invitation to become a
supplier at Walmart now once you receive
this invitation okay you've got a couple
options right you're either gonna
register to distribute your products
locally are you gonna register to
distribute your products nationally if
locally if you get an invitation more
likely you're gonna have to go to a
local store and pitch your product to a
store manager that manager will move it
up the chain and get you proof to be in
the store if you're going nationally and
the buyers really like your product in
your business more than likely you'll be
invited out to Bentonville and Arkansas
to get approved to supply your product
to Walmart now once you pitch your
product either to the buyer but in bed
or to the store manager at a local
Walmart basically you're gonna get a
supplier agreement from Walmart and
access to their global supplier
management application and retail link
once you get this this means that you
are a certified supplier for Walmart and
this means that you should start
receiving purchase orders for your
product now once you start receiving
purchase orders and you start invoicing
Walmart keep in mind that you're gonna
have to implement an EDI system or you
may even need to implement dex if you're
a food and beverage supplier make sure
that you get those platforms up and
running what you want to do to find an
EDI system go to Google type in EDI
systems like di central or SPS commerce
they do EDI with Walmart and companies
like us at lace of solutions we do dex
where you can go in plug straight into
Walmart and transmit the invoice upon
delivery if you're a direct store
delivery supplier but either way I hope
that helps you and that gives you a
basic checklist to start getting your
products into Walmart I'm gonna link
everything down below if you have any
