which you guys got a quick video here
for you on how to permanently delete and
erase data on a USB flash drive this
serve was recommended in one of my
comments section someone posted and
asked the question so I thought would
make a quick video to show you how to do
it without purchasing any software so
you can see here we've got our drive
here this is our flash drive that we're
going to be using here is just the same
disk 32 gigabytes in size now what we
want to do here is you want to right
click on here and go to format now most
people will just quickly do a quick
level format and this is not going to
erase any of the Vator you can use any
free software like recuva or any of this
type of software to recover data from
that drive now if you go through the
Coover here and basically gold files and
then you can choose whatever you want
here which in this case would be the
removable media and then they didn't
enable deep scan this would pull back
any of the data from that drive even
after just doing a quick format so it's
important that you take out the quick
format and run a full Fuhrer format on
there which will be a full format for
this particular type of flash drive and
this will start to erase data on that
drive now it does take a lot longer to
format and you won't have to do this
every single time but it's it only
important to do something like this if
you are giving the drive away to someone
or you've got sensitive data on there
like you add your bank documents and
stuff like that on there and you're now
going to be letting someone else use
that flash drive you've got to be
careful just in case they can pull that
data back
now if you want another method to wipe
or erase data on a driver I'm going to
show you how to do it using ccleaner now
the guy who mentioned it in the comment
section said that he got a bunch of USB
flash drive from a company and they were
used and he wants to securely erase them
so if you open up ccleaner and once
you've got ccleaner open and you can do
this on the free version and you just
want to go into the tool section here
inside the tool section look for drive
wipe up and over here we're looking for
the drive that we want to wipe if you
look here you can see USB flash drive
this is the drive that we're going to be
wiping make sure you select the right
drive I know this is the drive that
we're going to be wiping the wipe method
is up the top we're gonna erase the
whole Drive so it's going to erase the
complete Drive there which is what we
want and then you've got the security
method which you want to erase that
drive for so you got the advanced
overwrite which is three times you got
the simple overwrite which is one pass
and the advanced one is free passes the
complex overwrite which is seven passes
and the very complex overwrite which is
35 passes now what I will say to you is
just remember this is a flash drive and
if you start doing a massive amounts of
writes like 35 passes it's gonna take a
very long time and it will also shorten
the life of the USB flash drive so I
would suggest anything from one pass to
free passes but one pass should erase
theta on that drive and stop that from
working what you could do is do a long
format and then also run a quick pass
with one pass on it so push wipe and you
want to type in here erase with capital
letters
and remember once you've typed this in
it will erase all the data on that drive
and it will be not on impossible to
recover that data from that drive ok so
just be very careful now obviously if
you use in seven passes then you will
not be able to recover data and I would
suggest you probably won't be able to
recover data even on one pass so once
you click ok the scanning process will
start and it will start to erase data on
drive D which is the drive that I've got
here and it will take some time so be
patient you can see just for this drive
here it's gonna take a good you know 30
minutes or more to erase data on that
drive it will then start erasing data
with one pass now obviously if you are
doing more passes ie seven passes all
three passes this will obviously extend
the amount of time that is going to take
to erase that data and to cancel it you
just need to push cancel and that will
be that now after you finished if you
see the drive is like this and all you
need to do here is just quickly go to
format here and do quick format it's
because I've interrupted the process
there and you should be okay
there we go we've got access to the
drive again now remember this will
shorten the life of the flash drive so
just bear that in mind but that's
basically how you can completely secure
erase flash drives on your computer I
hope this one's been helpful tip my name
is Brian from bratok computers Cody Kay
