the ultimate wedding planning checklist
let's go i don't know why what that was
hello lovely humans welcome back to my
channel my name is jamie wolfer i'm your
online wedding planner and i bring you
wedding advice
every single week so if you're new here
jump on down there hit that subscribe
button ring the bell so you know each
and every time i upload a video today's
video is all about the ultimate wedding
planning checklist to end all ultimate
wedding planning checklist and it's this
absolutely beautifully designed 12-page
document we'll technically attend
because like two of them are pretty
pictures that walks you through the
perfect wedding planning timeline this
is pretty similar to the like screenshot
of the spreadsheet that we had in the
past but this time we really wanted to
create a resource that was all
encompassing so we've included links to
every single video that i've done that
is mentioned on that checklist so if
you're trying to figure out your guest
list my video's linked there for you if
you're trying to figure out florals i've
got a video link there for you it's
almost like having a little playlist in
your back pocket so whenever you're
ready whenever you're at that point of
wedding planning you have that resource
to immediately click on which is a
little bit more comprehensive than some
of the other ultimate checklists out
there
than not
so i'm going to link it right here if
you want to check it out i'll be
referring to it throughout the entirety
of the video it might take a couple
minutes to get into your inbox but when
you look at this document you're like
holy smokes this is comprehensive yeah
first of all it's supposed to be uh
second of all this is just literally
like a small segment of what we've got
going on in the master plan just like a
little a little taster of what we got
going on becoming a member of the master
plan gets you access not only to
spreadsheets and pdfs and email
templates but live calls with me where i
get to answer your questions in real
time as well as this beautiful community
of budget-minded people who are going
through the same exact thing that you
are really feeling buffeted by this
whole wedding planning process and
trying to do on a budget and trying to
please everybody and it's just so
helpful to have a resource of humans
that are like i get you so if you want
to plan your wedding as stress-free as
possible in a community that supports
you and me literally answering your
questions uh helping you out on our
group zoom calls i'm gonna link the
master plan right here 10 out of 10
recommend checking it out i believe so
much in this community and so much in
this membership that once you're in
there even after a handful of days
you're going to want to stick around so
let's talk about the wedding planning
checklist itself alright if you haven't
downloaded it i'll leave it linked in
the description box below but here's why
a checklist of this nature is really
important there tends to be a cadence to
wedding planning now not all of it is
linear so while this checklist is very
obviously linear
there's a reason we linked all these
videos to provide some context for maybe
to some decision making or how it might
differ for you and your partner and what
you want out of your wedding day so i'm
not going to go into each and every
specific detail on this video otherwise
that would be a super super long one
i don't know i'm holding pen
um we're gonna talk about the natural
progression of wedding planning and why
the checklist is formatted in this way
there are five foundational elements
when it comes to planning a wedding i
don't care who you are every single
couple has to go through these five
elements to plan an event of this
magnitude number one your priorities at
a certain point you're gonna have to
talk about what's important to you
what's important your fiance what you
want to get out of this wedding day what
you want it to feel like what the vibe
to feel like the cost the look um what
vendors are important what people
attending are important these
conversations are either going to come
naturally over time and or through
arguments along the way or you can
intentionally have that conversation
early to make sure you are both on the
same page because you will have things
that come in and challenge those
priorities so as long as you have that
to cling to it will help you remain so
much more steadfast when like things are
like buffeting you back and forth
throughout this process and here's how
those priorities kind of come into play
your vendors who you book when typically
it's going to be your venue first you
can't really move forward with a lot of
people without specifically figuring out
a location and a date most vendors
cannot commit a yes unless they know
when and where you're getting married
because of booking complications and or
travel time also when you'd book a
photographer or a videographer obviously
at the higher priority a vendor is the
sooner you should be booking them
because it gives you more time to
research look around cost compare get to
know them as people see if you like
working with them before committing to a
very large financial commitment one of
the things that i've received feedback
on the past is on this timeline i have
hair and makeup research at about six
months in advance i've specifically had
hair and makeup artist research reach
out and say ma'am that's not um
we're booked way more in advance than
that and that's a matter of priority
really and truly i find that a lot of
the clients that i work with a lot of
the couples that i work with it tends to
be a medium level priority in comparison
to photography or venue those seem to be
across the board a much higher priority
than hair and makeup on a wedding day so
if something's more important please
feel the freedom to scoot it up and or
down on this checklist to better reflect
what those priorities were in the very
beginning of that conversation now
budget isn't something that progresses
as we go through this checklist right
budget is something that dwindles it's
just like you set it and then you watch
the money slowly go away
now i do have a whole video on
potentially getting a free honeymoon on
like how to leverage some of these costs
with credit cards to get points and
potentially get an entire free vacation
out of it if that's your speed i'll link
it right here it's a fascinating
procedure it's a fascinating thing to
implement especially before you get
really really into wedding planning so
check that out if you're interested but
we don't really see a progression
through this checklist it just is what
it is and then we whittle away at it as
time goes on what i will say to you what
i encourage you to do is stick
to it another progression that we see as
we work down this list is your guest
list now you're going to want to have an
initial round of like
word vomit here's everyone who we think
we want to come to our wedding and as
you see as you go through this timeline
there's going to be a second round and a
finalization of that guest list because
really it's not like a one-time thing
you're gonna revisit it you may add some
people that you totally forgot that
should probably be invited you may
remove some people it's going to be kind
of like a work in progress for a handful
of months but you need to have all of
that done by around six months in
advance so you can send out your save
the dates now a lot hangs on this save
the date time frame if you are doing one
one booking your photographer so you can
have your engagement photos so you can
use those for your save the date and
have them for your website two your
website having that ready to go working
on that ahead of time putting those
pictures and having a resource for your
guests to go to to look at where your
events gonna be possible guest
accommodations and so you'll need to
have if you're doing hotel blocks you
have to have that ready to go as well
what your registry looks like whether
you're doing a honeymoon fund or an
actual physical item registry you need
to have that prepared as well so all of
these are listed out ahead of time
before sending out that save the date so
by the time you send that out to your
perfectly honed in guest list you have a
resource that they can turn to to get
all the information about your wedding
another area of your guest list so to
speak is your wedding party asking them
early enough it is a financial
commitment for so many people so they
need to be prepared maybe they need to
get time off of work maybe they're
traveling maybe they need to take a look
at their finances and start setting
money aside because it can be a lot for
people to be a part of a wedding party
and i think we'd be remiss to not
mention that you also need time to kind
of hound them to order their clothing
like just typically there's always like
one to five people who take like a
bajillion years
to just order from the link that you
sent them
we all have those friends it is what it
is they are who they are but i want to
make sure you have ample time to work
through that process with them and they
have ample time to set some money aside
to prepare themselves for any other
extra activities like a bachelor or
bachelorette event any sort of wedding
showers it's a very time consuming and
large financial commitment for so many
so pacing that accordingly makes it less
stressful for you and less stressful for
them again one of the first items from
the first section the very very tippy
top that progresses as we move forward
is the look now there's an entire
section of the master plan like a whole
one a whole section that's dedicated to
teaching you how to design your wedding
using only pinterest leveraging this
free platform and maybe phone a friend
or two to help you kind of hone that in
i know it's an extremely confusing
process for so many people especially if
design's not your thing you're like i
don't care people need to stop asking me
but they're going to keep asking you
which why i have that whole module
dedicated to helping you figure that out
as you are going through these different
rounds of styling you're getting
yourself prepared to have a conversation
with the florist maybe figure out your
colors the textures that you want the
general style or vibe that you're going
for you might even learn a few floral
names that you're really excited about
it's all preparing you for the time when
you're researching your florist and then
booking your florist and potentially
researching and booking your rentals
you're getting an idea of what the
aesthetic is getting prepared to have
these conversations with these vendors
and then having these conversations and
implementing those designs this also
would affect your personal attire so
making sure that you start dress
shopping if you're choosing wear a dress
or dumpster or like whatever you're
wearing it's ideal to start that early
enough in the process that you have time
to go shopping around that you have time
to place your order and because shipping
delays are very much still a thing
sometimes you want to make sure that
there's ample time to get that dress
made processed and delivered to you and
then you immediately try it on once you
receive it just in case so i like for
that to happen a certain amount of
months before your wedding so if
anything anything does not show up
correctly or needs to be taken care of
by the manufacturer or the dressmaker or
the seller you can immediately handle
that and then you have plenty of time to
get the alterations done afterwards and
if you're choosing to start a new
workout regimen or you have some sort of
goal you'd like to reach for your
wedding day which by the way
you found someone who loves you just the
way you are so you don't need a new diet
or a new workout routine in case someone
in the wedding industry has not told you
that yet you have found your favorite
person and they absolutely adore you so
do with that what you will have the
goals if you want to have them but don't
feel pressured into implementing
anything that you do not want to
implement and then as we're getting down
to the wire we're really looking at more
specific choices like uh food dessert
drinks maybe a song list finalizing that
floral design confirming with them
having them go off and do that
confirming with the rentals we're really
taking all these big steps these big
details and finishing them off with
finesse and these final little detail
moments organizing guest list figuring
out the layout general seating chart
sending out invitations receiving rsvps
giving yourself enough time to track
down all those people who have an rsvp'd
yet even though the deadline passed two
weeks ago yeah you're gonna need some
time for that as well and that's kind of
what the final few months on this
checklist look like is really tying up
these loose ends figuring out these
final details buying your wedding bands
communicating how many vendor meals you
might need to your caterer and that's
why we're not going through every single
detail in this video because it does it
gets to be pretty specific towards the
end but because you have gone through
this process because you've gone through
the whole guest list and wedding party
process and the whole style or the look
of your event you've really worked
through this i don't know why i keep
having these hand washers but i feel
like you know it's like a journey
because you've been so well paced and
you've done this so successfully these
last minute details are so easy to
accomplish so if you have not done so
already go download this checklist you
can either keep it as pdf form with all
of the videos linked to any of the
content i've already created for you to
have at your fingertips or print it out
and put it in your wedding planning
binder or both use this as a resource to
help you work through those processes
and hone in the absolute perfect wedding
day for you and your fiance and if you
think this is good it doesn't even hold
a candle to everything i cover with you
