in southern italy you can find a 30-mile
stretch of coastline that is home to
some of the most stunning landscapes in
the entire country from charming coastal
towns like atrani to the iconic beaches
of positano and the villas of ravello
here you can get a taste of la dolce
vita the suite life on italy's most
famous coastlines in this video i'll
take you with me as i explore this place
for the first time and i'll tell you
everything you need to know to have your
own once in a lifetime experience on the
amalfi coast
after arriving in naples by car we drove
south past the historic mount vesuvius
and pompeii on the way to sorrento
we just found the cutest lemoncello shop
here in sorrento we just met the owner
giovanni and he's been giving us some
amazing samples of the lemon cello they
do have a pretty high alcohol
concentration anywhere from 17 to 37
percent so we're getting the party
started early on this amalfi coast trip
but i highly recommend checking out this
shop we have so much more to explore in
this particular city but it's time to
head off to the next stop on the amalfi
coast
[Music]
well that was one of the most scenic
drives i have ever been on in my entire
life and i am so excited because we just
checked into the miramar fee for the
next three nights and this place has one
of the most iconic views i have ever
seen outside of a hotel room
balcony i am so excited to be using the
miramalphi as my home base during the
amalfi coast adventures this week
because it is centrally located it's
basically on top of the amalfi town and
it's only about 30 or 40 minutes away
from positano they also have parking
here which is essential if you have a
car on the amalfi coast and they also
have a
beach club right on the water and i am
just so excited to explore this place
good morning we are now hopping in the
miramar fee
uh shuttle to go down to the port in
amalfi town and we're
hopping on a
boat which i think is gonna be
potentially the highlight of our entire
amalfi coast trip we have just located
our
captain gennaro he's pulling the boat up
right now and this is gonna be
so amazing
[Music]
we have now just arrived at a very
exclusive private island off the coast
of positano called ilegale and this
place is very famous among celebrities
for weddings or a nice place to dock
their yachts apparently and the water is
just crystal clear blues
and we're sailing through all of these
amazing different rock formations you
can see capri off in the distance and
this is a perfect place for a swim
we have been enjoying this amazing day
at sea courtesy of buckingham and lloyds
who also have luxury villas here on the
amalfi coast these type of experiences
are usually reserved only for their
guests that are staying at the villas
but their team made a special exception
for us to be able to share this
experience with you the buckingham and
lloyd's team have been able to make
these kind of incredible luxury
experiences affordable so if you want to
have a similar experience on a boat in
positano i highly recommend
them in particular and i will leave all
of their information in the description
below
[Music]
good morning from positano we have just
now picked up this amazing vintage fiat
500
and
we're gonna be cruising around the coast
today and this is basically the italian
stereotype that every american dreams of
experiencing before we dive too far into
this video i want to talk about
something super important it's also one
of the things that intimidated me the
most about traveling here it can be a
bit confusing but it's how to get around
and what the transportation is like here
so let me explain
while traveling in the amalfi coast i
don't recommend renting a car driving
along the coast is stressful and very
expensive parking is mainly for
residents which makes it very difficult
to have a car unless your hotel includes
a parking space for transportation from
naples there are a few options you can
book a private transfer from the airport
which can cost more than 35 euros per
person this is the best option if you
have a lot of luggage but it is
expensive however it's still cheaper
than a car rental there are no direct
trains but the best way to get to the
coast in my opinion is to take a local
train from the naples train station to
sorrento or to salerno if you want to
start on the opposite side of the coast
then you can take a ferry or a sita bus
to your specific destination which costs
between five and nine euros per person
while exploring the different villages
you can rent a scooter for around 60
euros per day or you can use the local
bus system which only costs around one
euro we are about to embark on the
famous path of the gods hike and we've
been waiting for a bus for about an hour
and a half now our first experience with
the public transportation
here is not going well but fortunately
the price is right it's only about
two euros for the bus ticket to bonerano
which is where the trailhead is opposed
to an 80 euro taxi ride so it's
definitely worth
the wait but unfortunately the bus isn't
here yet so hopefully it'll get here
soon
[Music]
after a few hours of confusion we
finally arrived on the path of the gods
hike i think that the
buses ended up not coming because there
was a wildfire in a nearby canyon that
must have cancelled the route but there
was not really any conclusion to why
they never came
and i don't think that's very typical
for the region we were just a bit
unlucky and since we got such a late
start in the day we ended up taking our
car and parking in bominaro which is
where the trailhead for this hike is and
i would say that the best route is from
bominaro down to positano it's a very
simple hike very
very easy it goes downhill most of the
way with panoramic views of the ocean
nearly the entire hike there's not
really any shady spots though and it can
get really hot here in the mid-summer
and i highly recommend coming here
around september like i am here right
now because there are barely
any crowds and you feel like you get
this place all to yourself
there is no way to sugarcoat it the
amalfi coast may be beautiful but it's
also one of the most expensive summer
destinations in europe the main dishes
at restaurants usually cost between 15
to 25 euros at a minimum and a glass of
wine will roughly cost between six and
nine euros on average hotels cost 150
euros per night but the sky is the limit
for the luxury accommodation options
here the high season runs from june to
august but i recommend visiting in may
or september to save a little on peak
season prices and avoid most of the
tourists i hope you enjoyed the video
