whiteboards are used everywhere I'm sure
you've experienced issues such as your
markers smearing staining residue
ghosting and even scratches most people
only use a dry eraser to clean their
whiteboards off and never actually use a
proper cleaning solution which can cause
permanent damage to the whiteboard
surface there are three main types of
whiteboards melamine porcelain and glass
well they all can be cleaned similarly
they have different qualities that set
them apart on how to care for them
melamine whiteboards are plastic backed
by pressboard they're the most common
inexpensive whiteboard but they are not
magnetic and can scratch and stain
easily porcelain whiteboards are
generally more expensive because they
are made of ceramic and backed by steel
these are typically a magnetic and are
resistant to staining and ghosting
tempered glass whiteboards will be the
most expensive because it is made of
glass glass boards can be magnetic and
they resist staining and ghosting if you

cleaning your whiteboard surface there
are numerous ways to safely clean it
without ruining the surface of the
whiteboard we suggest using a microfiber
cloth or something that's not abrasive
so you don't strip away the actual
surface of the whiteboard we have tested
various ways to clean the whiteboard and
have found these to be the most
successful isopropyl alcohol proved to
be an effective way in cleaning the
whiteboard when put on a microfiber
cloth
white board cleaner is a non-toxic
cleaner and is an obvious choice for
cleaning a white board it was quite
effective in removing stains and even
ghosting I found Windex to be a very
effective cleaner by just spraying a
small amount onto a microfiber cloth I
was able to easily remove stubborn
staining while cleaning the surface next
I tried a drop of Dawn dish soap and
water on a microfiber cloth even though
this method took a little more effort to
remove the old marker it was a great way
to clean the surface to remove residue
and oils if you are looking for a
chemical free way to clean your
whiteboard there are a few ways to
easily clean it by wetting a magic
eraser you are able to clean the
whiteboard surface while removing stains
and ghosting I used a cloth to dry up
the excess water a used fabric softener
sheet will not scratch the surface of
your whiteboard but can effectively
remove ink that is on the whiteboard for
less than 24 hours it works best on dry
erase markers but not wet erase markers
this isn't typically a cleaner and will
act more as an eraser than a cleaner
people have been using vinegar and water
as a cleaning agent for years add one
teaspoon of vinegar per cup of water use
a microfiber cloth to clean the
whiteboard
paper towel and water is a quick
chemical-free way to clean the surface
of your whiteboard but may not remove
any stains or ghosting there are a few
things that can ruin or damage the
surface of your whiteboard that you're
going to want to stay away from stay
away from waxed based cleaners that also
means no polishing your whiteboard
surface they end up leaving a film
residue on the whiteboard
do not use abrasive cleaners they will
physically scratch the surface of your
board never clean a board by wiping the
ink off with your hand your skin
contains natural oils that stay on the
surface and can ruin it over time some
people may use toothpaste or comet but
these are abrasive cleaners that can
damage your whiteboard there are also a
few tips that you can follow to make
your whiteboard surface last clean your
dry eraser regularly they hold onto ink
and won't be as effective use a dry
erase marker to remove permanent marker
always use a soft non-abrasive cloth to
remove ink such as a microfiber cloth
wait until the ink is dry before you
erase it to prevent staining don't slide
magnets on the surface if your
whiteboard is used daily it should be
cleaned daily googan is also a great way
to remove dry erase markers from the
surface but not wet erase markers if
there are stickers or tape on the
surface remove only with googan for
stubborn adhesives very carefully use a
razor blade to scrape away the sticker
or tape follow the maintenance
instructions if provided while cleaning
your whiteboard may seem like a simple
task it should be done often and
correctly to keep your whiteboard
lasting a long time try to stay away
from abrasive materials & cleaners that
may damage the surface of your
whiteboard there are many types of
cleaners that can effectively clean the
surface to keep it as good as new
with a little extra care your board will
be looking as great as the first day you
got it
