How to mount a window air conditioner

01:01time getting those screws in with us the

01:03regular Phillips screwdriver so I that I

01:06hear here decided to switch here to my

01:08cordless and that turned out to be a lot

01:11easier so next I have here these

01:14accordion panels those are here to cover

01:18an eventual gap on the sides of the unit

01:21after you installed it into the window

01:24and you want to make sure that you use

01:26the correct side here so on this this

01:29case here this is the left side and

01:30there's also written left onto this

01:33panel and then the way that you install

01:36this is you pull out this accordion

01:38piece and then you just slide this here

01:41into this little slot on the side of the

01:43unit and you the scroll all the way down

01:46with it and after that then you push

01:49here this plastic frame so the upper and

01:52the lower part you push those pieces

01:53here into the upper of the top and the

01:57lower mounting rails so that they are

02:00sliding in there and of course you have

02:03to repeat this for the right side as

02:05well yeah and so now here's the window

02:08that I want to install this unit into

02:11and for

02:13of course I make sure here that the unit

02:15will fit in here size-wise and this is

02:18just a right and now I'm looking here at

02:21the windowsill and you see here there is

02:24this lip here that sticks up towards at

02:28the front or the inside of the room here

02:29and the unit this unit here once you

02:33have a flat surface to sit on so I had

02:36to come up with an idea of how to create

02:38a flat surface and so I took here a

02:42piece of wood I cut this to size that

02:44fits exactly in here and now this builds

02:48here this flat surface that I can mount

02:50the air-conditioning unit on to and now

02:54on top of this surface here this piece

02:57of wood I am sticking on here another

03:00piece of foam to a seal the unit when we

03:04put the unit on here that it creates a

03:06little seal so that we don't have air

03:08cold air leaking out or warm air coming

03:11in and so the seal is also here

03:13self-adhesive

03:14we'll just peel the backing paper off

03:16and after I cut it to size and then I

03:20just stick this on here really easy and

03:23there's also another seal that comes

03:25with this air conditioning unit to stick

03:28onto the window panel so that comes down

03:31from the top that you push down onto the

03:34unit D later and this my window panel

03:38actually has some sort of seal attached

03:41to it already so I don't do that in this

03:43case here yeah and so now it is already

03:47time here to lift the air conditioning

03:51unit into position so and you really

03:54want to make sure that you are strong

03:56enough to handle this weight because the

03:58unit is really heavy so you don't want

04:01to accidentally have this device you

04:04fall out through the window and onto the

04:07street or here onto the roof in my case

04:09so make sure that maybe you have a

04:11second person to help you in case you

04:13think you may not be able to hold it all

04:15this time and so now I'm lifting this

04:18unit here into the window and I'm lining

04:22it up here you see the accordion pieces

04:26here on the left

04:26right those are supposed to line up with

04:29the window frame and then the bottom

04:33mounting rail that is going to sit right

04:35on that piece of wood that I installed

04:37earlier and the top mounting rail that

04:40is going to be right where the window

04:43panel comes down so the front of the

04:47mounting rail is going to be actually

04:49inside of the room and so you slide the

04:52window down and that's how the air

04:56conditioning unit is going to be

04:58attached or held in place

05:01see now I slit this window down here and

05:04now it basically cannot fall out the

05:07unit can't fall out anymore it's held in

05:09place and we're going to secure this

05:12with a couple of screws in a minute but

05:15first I'm checking here outside with a

05:17level that the air conditioning unit

05:20slants down a little bit so that when

05:23the water that's created when the unit

05:27is running or when it's raining that

05:28this water is running down away from the

05:32house and not into the unit or into the

05:34building and now on top of the unit you

05:38see here these three small screw holes

05:41and that's what are we going to attach

05:44the air conditioning unit to the window

05:48so we make sure that it doesn't fall out

05:51accidentally nobody tries to like open

05:53the window and then the unit will tumble

05:56out and eventually hurt somebody so I'm

06:00going to school these in also using here

06:03my cordless because that's a lot easier

06:06than if you were to would try this with

06:09a regular Phillips screwdriver and then

06:14I have here this little bracket here

06:18also together comes together with a

06:20screw and I'm going to use this to

06:23attach here on top of the window panel

06:26so this will make sure that you can't

06:29move the window panel anymore for

06:33example if somebody were to come from

06:35outside and break in for example so I'm

06:39going to at

06:40is really easy here really quickly on

06:42top yes the last step here of course we

06:46are going to plug this into an outlet

06:49and then we are already done so now the

06:53last step here is just to put the

06:55batteries into the remote control and as

06:59soon as we've done that we are ready to

07:01go we start up this air-conditioning

07:03unit and we can be cool okay yeah so I
