ahoy fellow Ark players in this tutorial
we'll go over how to browse for mods how
to actually install them and to wrap up
this tutorial I'll go over some tips
with you this tutorial is mainly for
people who want to add mods to their
solo game but I also have advice for
those of you who are wondering how to
add mods to a server that you're renting
every server platform is different so we
won't be getting too specific into the
server side also
I've got timestamps in the comments
section so you can just jump to whatever
part of the tutorial that you need all
right let's go to browse for mods the
first thing you're gonna have to do is
navigate to the Ark survival evolved
community workshop there are two ways to
do this the best way is to simply click
on arc in your library next click on the
workshop tab and this will bring you
straight to the workshop for arc the
other way you can get to the workshop is
by hovering your cursor over the
community tab and then clicking on
workshop this doesn't bring you straight
to the Ark workshop so you'd have to
search for it in the search bar here
okay so now we're in the ark workshop
one of the first things are gonna see
are the featured mods in the past week
every once in a while you'll find gem
here but often times you'll just find
random mods that really usually aren't
all that great to the right of the
featured mods you'll see a list of
different categories for mods most
popular and top rated of all time are
really good places to look for mods if
you're just shopping around if you're
looking for a specific type of mod
you'll find lists here that are
categorized like total conversion mods
structure mods weapon mods and so on
when I'm just browsing around I like to
go to most popular then I search by time
periods starting with one week then
three months all the way down to
all-time shopping around for mods this
way will show you awesome mods that are
newer but just haven't gotten the
traffic yet once you get down to
all-time though this is where I would
suggest you start your mod search quest
you'll find the best mods with the
longest histories here and it's just
page after page after page of great mods
for you to look through if you click on
one of these mods it will bring you to
that mods page where you will get a more
in-depth description of what the mod is
all about the mod ID is important
because many of the servers you can rent
will require you to input the mod ID and
the configuration files to actually
activate that mod on your server if
you're just modding your solo game
though you're not gonna have to mess
around with these mod IDs at all if you
do need to find a mod ID it'll be on the
page for the mod that you want an ID for
that being said mod IDs are not always
easy to find ideally you'll find them at
the top of the mod description but
sometimes you'll find them at the bottom
or in the middle of the description so
to all the modders out there for God's
sakes please put the mod IDs at the top
of the description so it's easy for us
all to find
the last thing to go over as far as
searching for mods goes is how to find a
specific mod that you already know about
just go to the search bar and enter the
name of the mod or the mod ID let's say
we're looking for the classic flyers mod
we'll just type in classic flyers here
and there it is pretty intuitive I know
I just want to be as thorough as
possible for you guys alright let's talk
about how to actually install the mods
once you found a mod that you're
interested in just click on the green
button with a plus sign in the bottom
right-hand corner of the thumbnail this
will add the mod to your subscribed
items and if you go into the mod page
you can also subscribe to the mod by
clicking on the subscribe button right
here you can easily see all the mods you
subscribe to by going to the Browse tab
and then clicking on subscribe to items
once you've subscribed to a mod you can
then get into arc go into host local and
now you'll find all the mods you've
subscribed to right here under available
mods these mods won't be applied to your
arc world yet they're just available for
you to use to actually implement mods
you'll need to add them to the active
mods list by clicking on the mod and
then hitting the transfer button you
should first transfer over the biggest
and most important mods like overhaul
mods and the last mods you'll want to
add are the least important like
aesthetic mods the game will prioritize
the mods at the top of the list so if
any conflicts occur between the mods it
will try to preserve the integrity of
the mods at the top of the list and
that's everything you need to know about
installing and activating mods one thing
that is extremely important for you to
know is that you do not want to log into
your world before the mods finish
updating on the main menu look in the
bottom right hand corner of the screen
this is where you're gonna see if the
mods are being updated or installed
if it says that the mods are installing
or updating and you start the game your
arc file will be corrupted it will be an
absolute disaster especially if you have
a lot of hours into the file so if
you're gonna be using mods you'll need
to get into the habit of looking here
before entering the game be especially
wary after steam updates for arc because
this is where one version of a mod may
not carry over to the updated Steam
files now if you're renting a server
you'll have to update the mods on
whatever platform you're using servers
like the craft and survive servers
actually won't let you log into the game
until you've updated the mods which is
really nice it prevents you from
corrupting your arc world other servers
won't tell you that there's been an
update so it'll be up to you to keep an
eye out for mod updates to check what
mods were updated go into the arc
workshop go to browse click on subscribe
to items then go to this filter and
select date updated I always recommend
manually saving your arc game often I'll
post a link to the tutorial on how to do
that if you're interested it's one of my
older videos so the production value
isn't great but the information is still
good if you do accidentally enter the
game before the mod finishes updating
and your file gets corrupted you can
still rectify your file by using a
previous save file so that's why it's a
good idea to get into the habit of
manually saving your game that same rule
applies for a server that you may be
renting but instead of doing manual
saves you'll want to get into the habit
of backing up your server often let's go
back into the workshop really quick
there's one more thing I'd like to show
you one of the really cool things you
can do is create collections of mods go
to the Browse tab and click on
collections here you can see other
people's collections to see what they're
using to create your own click on create
collection Steam does a good job of
walking you through every
and it's not terribly difficult to
figure out so we won't get into the
weeds about the process creating
collections is awesome because it allows
you to easily bundle your favorite mods
into one spot not only that but you'll
be able to share that collection with
the steam community and your friends if
you'd like to see the mods I use in all
of my files just go to browse
collections and type in Havoc's favorite
mods it's this one right here if you're
wanting to add mods to a server that
you're renting you'll need to figure out
how to do it for whichever platform
you're using I use craft and survive and
I've actually got a full tutorial on how
to use the craft and survive servers so
if you're interested in that I'll leave
the link in the description of this
video it's probably not too different
from nitrito havoc or any other server
platform you may choose so it might be a
good resource for you to use to figure
out how to operate your server also I've
got a video on my top 15 favorite mods
for arc so if you want to see why I like
the mods that I use you'll find that in
the description as well arc easily has
one of the best modding communities
around and I think that fact is greatly
responsible for arc being in the top 10
on Steam charts for years thank you to
all the modders out there and keep up
the great work you all deserve a lot
more credit if you have any questions
please feel free to ask away in the
comments section I always do my best to
respond if you liked this video or found
it useful a thumbs up would be greatly
appreciated if you'd like to help
support me and have a gaming channel a
subscription would be outstanding likes
and subscriptions let me know that I'm
doing something right anyway thanks for
watching enjoy the mods and Godspeed
