the battery in my stack on gun safe
recently died as a result I was unable
to open this safe using the keypad also
I lost the key which is the lesson don't
lose your key so I was unable to get
open this gun safe I did learn though an
easy way to open the safe in the case I
didn't have a key or a functional keypad
I'll show you that right now
the safe is locked I want to give it a
whack should open what I'm gonna do with
this knob here is keep it in this
orientation before I hit the safe hit
this and immediately turn clockwise
you'll see why later and the safe is now
unlocked let's learn why that happened
to learn why that happened I'm gonna
pull off this cover it's one screw
holding this plastic cover on expose
here's electronics and the lock
mechanism lock mechanism is kept in the
locked position
I just turned the knob by the solenoid
the solenoid is a little plunger that
moves in and out this plunger retracts
when this magnetic oil is activated
allowing you to unlock your safe so by
turning the knob as I explained earlier
after I immediately hit the safe what
happens is I'm hitting the safe that
causes this plunger to bounce
upward and then as soon as I hit this
safe causing the plunger to bounce
upward I rotate the knob clockwise
recall that allows me to open up the
safe right when this solenoid bounces
upward so to correct this problem in the
safe you could put a stiffer spring
inside the solenoid assuming your power
still allows you to retract this spring
just by trial and error you can measure
that so put a differ spring or
maybe change your mechanism up here a
little bit I can't open it by bouncing
up your solenoid so I hope this allows
you to get into your safe if you no
longer have your key or your battery or
alternatively I hope this allows you to
fix your safe so you no longer have this
defect
