um if you guys just came from my
overview video of this thanks for
sticking into the series if you guys
just came directly well thanks for being
here anyways okay we're going to talk
about changing the blade um removing and
adjusting the knife blade the blade
knife
okay and and
the safety guard okay
so first thing first
let's go over the safety guard real
quick
okay
so to install this
gotta get the blade up there
okay there is a notch back here okay
which okay let's make sure this is right
side up first okay slide this back into
the notch
okay
you see and pull it good up
and tight there you'll see it locks in
basically then just fold it down
and you got your latch right there and
it locks in place okay this isn't a bad
safety guard for a safety guard scope
it's two-sided split there's a nice
v here in the middle aluminum cast
aluminum
with any safety guard you don't get the
full range of your blade i can't it
doesn't drop all the way down you can
adjust the
the blade knife up a little bit which
will give you a better range a different
range
um
but there's certain things i do like
sometimes i'll make notches and boards
or cut out l's off the side or something
like that
and this really honestly gets in the way
now
okay please do follow your your safety
guidelines for your tools and your
equipment and to operate a safe manner
but that being said
oh and any injury you do happen to
have
don't don't blame me guys um operate in
a safe manner if you do not feel safe
operating in the way i do it
do it in the way you feel safe doing it
okay i'm just going to show you how i
use it
and how i use it is
never with this
that's why this looks brand spanking new
and this saw has been used i've had this
saw in use for about two years guys for
those of you who just freaked out i
suggest you take it off the safety
equipment that gets in the way and i
find that actually has caused more
injuries than not people that i've known
you saw us that they keep that on there
i've known them to slice their fingers
in half and i'm talking that way not
that way okay cutting it down that way
is something else when it splits like a
banana okay banana peels if you will
okay yeah it was a gruesome thing i've
been using my sauce okay table sauce
skill saw sawzalls for over 25 years
i've never cut myself with my sauce okay
so
i think that should be a testament that
i operate them safely all right that
being said you have to operate it would
feel safe to you
now let's get back to business
there's your guard right there whether
you want to use it or not that's how you
install it now what about the blade and
that blade knife well first of all what
is the blade knife okay real quick
that's awesome all right if you're
splitting a two by four and it's coming
down here a lot of times it actually
after you cut it for some reason depends
on the grain of the wood and et cetera
it'll actually pinch itself back
together and when it does that when it's
pinching itself back together it's
actually binding the back of the blade
so you got your blade knife in there
which keeps that board split it also as
you run stuff through because it gives
you just that much more behind the blade
helps to keep everything straight
um
this keeps your cut straighter it's
easier to keep them straighter i love
this okay it's really a good thing
there's a lock right here okay just
unlock it spin it to the left quarter
turn that comes off
okay let's get the camera a little bit
closer so you can see what i'm doing
because i'm going to show you how to
adjust and remove
the blade knife and then had to
change out the blade okay guys we're
right on top of this now
as you can see
you might ask why are you going to
remove the the the blade knife it's so
awesome
first of all let me see what i'm doing
i'm spinning this little nut on the side
over here okay so just unscrew this
while i'm talking all right sometimes
when i'm making certain kites where i'm
going to put a board over the blade and
then actually crank the blade so it
comes up through the bottom of the board
to cut out different cutouts like for
example like cutting out a vent out of
out of hardwood flooring
okay
this is in the way okay so how do you
remove that now that this is unscrewed
okay we got some noise over there
someone's trying to cut something
um now you see the arrows pointing
towards it you just push it in
spring-loaded
and that releases it okay there is
another notch in the uh
the blade knife here
there that gives your your safety guard
a little more range that's what that's
doing
okay but that's how you remove that
it's also nice to remove when you're
gonna take the blade out because it just
gives you a little more room
okay so guys we got our
our blade right here
and we're going to take our little
wrenches off here
we had a storm the other week so we got
some people cleaning up some trees okay
we got your two wrenches here we got the
open end wrench which is going to go on
the backside of the blade
okay there's not a lot of spots that fit
so just turn it until
it drops okay
then we have our closed end wrench okay
now this is a right-handed thread nut
okay so lefty loosey righty tighty all
right now the first time i took this off
it was really tight okay guys and it
doesn't have to be that tight but
sometimes it actually works itself
tighter it's spun in a certain way so
that the blade actually keeps that nut
tight
but when it's really tight you can just
put this wrench up against the table
here
if you want a good thing to do
speaking of safety
uh because these blades can be a little
sharp and they can cut you even when
they're not spinning if your hand slips
is just throw on a pair of leather
gloves okay the wrench is here
okay what kind of okay of course
and you're just gonna unscrew it you can
see that i left it a little loose there
okay but just unscrew it
i'll take these
gloves
back off there so i can actually work
the nuts
okay so you can take the nut off put it
to the side take that wrench off to the
side your washer okay so guys you take
this off oops which way does it go uh
the big flat side goes against the blade
and then the beveled raised up side goes
against the nut okay like this like so
now the blade comes off okay simple
enough now you can put on a different
blade whether you're using a fabric a
base abrasive blade to cut metal whether
you're going to use a better trim blade
that has more teeth or whether you just
need a new blade because this one's worn
out okay
so let's hurry up and put this back
together slide this in
your
blade face goes in
against the motor
okay
basically your teeth
is going to spin towards you okay and so
the teeth need to be coming at you
okay hopefully that's makes sense
the car by teeth are facing you the
washer big flat side goes on
boom
our nut
goes on
just run that up with your fingers we're
gonna put our
blade lock
wrench on
oh
gloves
and this way
i think you're working a little bit more
against the teeth so you're actually
more likely to cut yourself
one because the blade should be newer
and sharper and two like i said you're
working against it
all right
so just get it where it's good
good and tight don't go crazy
make it good and tight okay
we're gonna put these wrenches back the
correct way do not lose those okay
put those back on the side
put them back on right i'm taking my
gloves back off so that i can work again
we're going to put the
blade knife in place
okay push it in the button
drop it down
she's locked
going to tighten the little screw
okay just snug that up okay that's all
down
and then we're gonna close it off really
easy
okay make sure it's unlocked now it's
locked boom guys
there you go
this is actually a really easy blade
change out and everything else
everything is done very well on this saw
i really enjoy it
you can take a look on the top right of
your screen
at least i think i'm pointing at the top
