hey yeah I've got a big beefy bike on
here
it's a 5-volt combination one but it's a
no-name brand but it's big the cable
looks big but I suspect most of them as
plastic and five wheels it might make it
harder to decode but I know with this
log it has no false gates it's currently
set to a combination that I don't know
now the first approach that you should
use when trying to decode a combination
by clock is what's called the indirect
method first of all you had to forget
which side to pick on if I teach them
the lock by trying to pull based sizes
if I'm trying to open it up trying to
pull it apart so I'm teaching the lock I
see yep it's the start to tune this side
is all this side is very tight to do
okay so I know that this end there's a
sign that's binding first it's
tensioning the most it's has to Tim when
I can turn the lock its hardest to Jim
the site so I'm going to pick on this
side and I'm going to use the indirect
method starting on this side what I'm
going to do is I'm going to turn this
will to every number to see which number
makes the Knicks will along hardest to
turn and attention in other words which
number of this will makes this will
start to bind okay so if I pull yes if
I'm trying to open it up so I'm teaching
the lock I can see oh yeah this will is
this type to chain on zero I put this
wheel to one this type to ten put your -
mm maybe a little bit tight on two three
threes tighter for very very tight ok
falls the winner safe bar five
not tight six not tight seven not tights
eight it's not tight nine not tight so
four is the winner so far when I call I
get very tight okay so it's very
touching this will so I think the Creek
number for this combination for the last
wheel is 4 okay so now I'm going to do
the same thing I'm going to turn this
wheel to each number to see which number
starts to bind the Knicks will along ok
so I'm going to tension again and a tip
by the way with these locks when you
pull try not to sort of pull up this way
but try pull along maybe squeeze the
these two bits in a bit so that you're
not tempted to go up because even if you
put the correct combination then the
lock won't open if you're trying to pull
it you know up and you naturally want to
try and pull it up because if it goes
down on both sides and you naturally
want to pull this angle but don't do
that
so pull time-poor along and then that's
how I'm going to tension this lock
trying to open it the proper way so for
this lock I'm pulling along and I'm
going to change the stitch number to see
which number binds this will I'm
starting to get tired arms already from
all this tensioning especially trying to
do it on camera but that's what the
indirect method requires okay so this
one pulling along this tight pulling
along this tight pulling along just
tight
so far they don't really seem tidal all
those sevenths into tighter okay
just double-check that with six a year
that's this tight which is in that type
at seven pulling along yep a lot tighter
so I'm liking seven so far go to eight
come along no no that's seven
yeah it's tight so I'm liking seven so I
think seven that's the correct
combination with the fourth wheel now
I'm going to do the same thing I'm going
to see which number on this will starts
to bind the Knicks rule along when I'm
tensioning the lock so I'm pulling the
lock not up but along and this will is
this tight can peer up to one yeah both
of them with a little bit tight little
bit tight little bit tight that's still
the same as each other so far little bit
tight little bit tight will set a little
bit tighter and spice
maybe it's hard to tell that number
hey maybe maybe six my favorite so far
Oh H is very tight okay
so it stands out there's an obvious okay
loss you're about six but I really stood
out as being really tight can you say no
so that's all done wasn't going to
compare six again and eight that's
definitely a if under tension eight
makes this will really have to gin
okay so last three numbers eight seven
four now I'm going to do the same thing
again see which number one this will
makes this will bind under tension so
I'm pulling this tight that's tight
still still not the tightest this is
each other three maybe a little bit more
tight actually four same as three five
is the same six is the same given maybe
seven spider nine is really tight okay
this obvious right
okay so I have to keep remembering to
pull along and not up like as natural as
I say because these two bits bending
down it's so tempting just to bend them
up without thinking about it we have to
pull along okay anyway I'm happy with
nine eight seven four so now I the only
number I don't know is the first number
so I can just trade your single number
so it's not zero but one not two not
three not four
and it's five okay so five nine eight
seven four is a great combination I'm
going to do another video where I talk
about a more direct method which may be
faster for this lock but it doesn't work
on lots of bike locks works on quite a
few but the indirect method works on
lots of bike locks but not all of them
but match more bike locks if if you're
going to come across a bike lock and you
don't know which method to use try the
indirect method first because it works
on lots and lots and lots of bike locks
