hey everyone um today I'm going to show
you how to lock a folding closet slash
pantry door really quickly and easily
so um into the hardware store and just
picked up these Simpson ties I got one
of these too
that was like this will this would work
I'd have to cut this part off but I got
this one too just to see if it would
work and it's a little bit wider than
the dorset to the standard 2x4 the
usually most closet door for like an
inch in about three quarters or
something like that so they're a little
bit narrower than a 2x4 so that left me
room to put like get some padding here
[Music]
put a couple of these and then this is
the kids there's some medicine and stuff
in the closet and a little one was
getting in there and climbing and stuff
so this just putting a couple felt pads
in there on one time and then I got some
of these uh so clear bumpers on the
other side so it doesn't mess up the
door at all so put the felt on one side
and then these clear bumpers on the
other side
and let's see if this is gonna be too
wide for the door I don't think so but
we're gives double check I can always
take them off if it is okay so just put
those filled on one and the bumpers on
the other then just come to your door
here open so it folds out and then I'm
gonna put the felt on the outer side and
then bumper on the inner side there okay
okay so it moves pretty easily still
okay so that might be a little bit I
think I'm gonna take that I'm editing
bumpers off that one side I thought it
would light a little bit smoother than
that but it's not so I'm just gonna take
them because I thought it would just
like kind of guys glide along there but
it's not someone take those off okay and
just keep this belt on the one side
close the door then and then just seem
to take your finger run it past the gap
there it's sitting right there and when
you go to open the door
I got open see I'm trying to open it
here that's not happening so um know
what I'm actually thinking
no I was thinking up you could do the
same thing along the bottom as well if
you wanted to just put it might not be
able to figure out why it's not opening
but this one is definitely gonna work so
it's just Simpson type and a couple felt
tabs and you simply slide it with your
finger you can open the door and even if
you have a really narrow gap up there by
the door I don't have much of a gap it's
probably less than a quarter of an inch
even if it's pretty tight up there
you're still gonna fit in there this is
only like less than an eighth of an inch
wide so fits under there nice and it's
super easy to put on there just open the
door close it slide it over with a
finger and a little gap you might just
slide it so it's about midway good to go
um a little kids not gonna be able to
open that they can reef on it all day
long it's not opening so you go um hope
that helps you guys out there sometimes
I was thinking about building like a
bracket across here and putting you know
all that and I was like nah you know
what this this would be really easy so
yeah you had a shot like I said today I
could have gone with this wider this
wider Simpson tie and just cut this part
off right here and then it would have
given me more width I guess just but I
bought this other one that that was
there the hardware store and it's I
wasn't sure if it was gonna be what long
enough to make sure it didn't open but
yeah it works great so and I just put it
a little off felt tabs on there so it
didn't mess up the paint or hang on the
door I'm not I'm really concerned about
the back side of the door I could put a
felt back there - probably
wanted to but okay maybe thanks for
watching everyone a cheap and easy way
to lock a folding closet cupboard door
whatever thanks for watching yeah
