How to Open a 3-Dial Combination Lock Case in 6 Minutes or Less
hi i'm ryan from cannibal musical
instruments i want to show you how in
six minutes or less to get into a case
that's been locked for the combination
that you don't know just a brief
overview this is our clarinet our
professional clarinet case it's similar
to a lot of briefcases in that it has
this three digit tumbler lock on each of
two different latches briefly this is
how they work you said it the
combination this one set to zero zero
zero pull it out on the lock the latch
opens and in the case if you want to
change the combination you push in on it
set it force first set it to your
combination push in on the on the button
and set it to whatever you want say
double-oh-seven is your new combination
let go it'll open to that and then set
it to any other number and you can't
open it now the scenario is your kid's
been playing with this he's accidentally
set the numbers to something different
you have no idea what it is and you need
to get into your case so what you need
to do is there there are a thousand
different possible combinations honestly
the easiest way to do it is not removing
hardware not hack sawing anything you
don't need any sort of hacking materials
you can try at all thousand combinations
in six minutes or less and there's an
easy way to do it of course this one's
set to double-oh-seven lets said it's
something a little bit more random of
course i already know what it is here so
we'll set it to three five seven stay
there
what's your kid accidentally sent it to
set it to you so what you're going to do
is set it to start at zero zero zero and
you're gonna try each number one at a
time but you don't have to go zero zero
zero try zero zero one try what you want
to do is put constant outward pressure
on this lock always be pulling out on
the button here because when you get to
your combination it will automatically
open if you're keeping that pressure on
so you're starting at zero zero hold the
pressure on and go one two three four
five six seven eight nine zero then set
the next one over to 10 11 12 13 14 15
16 17 and so forth and so on here we'll
just go through
the 20s here's make sure it's set right
there's the 30s and you're just rolling
right through them there we've gone
through fifty already so once we get
into the 300s like I said you can scroll
through these pretty quick here say
we're at the three 40s one two three
four five six seven eight nine zero
three fifty one two three four five six
seven and when you get to that number
it'll pop open because you're holding
that pressure out there you don't need
to tear anything apart and like I said
you can go through all thousand numbers
in less than six minutes and generally
if it's not set to nine nine nine
you'll get there a lot faster than that
