hello everybody welcome to work the game
my name is Brian and today we're putting
a little guide together for you on how
to use jump oceans in the world of Final
Fantasy 14 now I want to take this time
as a brief introduction to talk to you
guys about it because a jump ocean is a
very sensitive topic a jump ocean
doesn't make you a good player and it
doesn't make you a bad player you have
to kind of decide that for yourself when
it comes to this and what I mean by that
is that are you the kind of player who's
gonna take time to really learn and like
research and read the tool tips
especially because you're gonna get a
lot of skills really quickly and it can
feel a little overwhelming if you're the
kind of player who's gonna take that
time I think you're gonna find the game
fun successful and you're gonna find the
community open and welcome I would
advise against using a jump ocean and
then trying to jump into Varela's you
want to make sure that you set aside you
know set aside some time to really feel
out the job to read the tool tips to
practice against some target dummies or
some of the other various content in the
game just so that when you do decide to
do group content that you're not
necessarily expecting somebody to teach
you how to play at that point and that's
kind of a key point a lot of a lot of
people do blame jump potions for bad
players in the game but there always
have been and there always will be
players who don't take the time to learn
their job so don't necessarily equate
that with the gym potion itself now
whether you decided to use this for
whatever reason whether it was a time
constraint or whatever note that you
don't have to share that fact with the
player base in and of itself but it is
important that you make the decision and
it is not a cheap decision these things
cost twenty-five dollars per job and
there's also a cost if you want to skip
over this story as well now jump potions
are in the world of Final Fantasy
they're in multiple of the games and the
reason is is obviously to help keep the
community up to speed and to par but
outside of the debate whether they
should be here or shouldn't be in they
are here and so I'm going to put
together this guide to show you how to
get acquire the jump ocean how to use
the doom potion what happens while that
all comes together and then after that
fact talk about what your next steps
are after you use the jump potion so
without further ado let's go ahead and
just do this thing so acquiring the jump
potion is a relatively easy process just
log into the MOG station go into
optional items you can find the level
boost selection right here scroll down
and then you're gonna see the various
jump potions for retainer or specific
jobs well you're gonna be looking for is
obviously the job that you want to jump
up the jobs that are available are only
the ones that are included heavensward
and before you cannot do this for
anything that's level 50 and above so
any of the base jobs in any of the
expanded jobs are available now going
into the job that you want you select
purchase and then you're gonna see the
value of that which isn't in this case
$25 it's at this point you need to make
sure that if you have multiple
characters that you only select the
correct one see I'm selecting Brynn
Salazar on sargatanas and I want to say
deliver to this character they're gonna
make you check this proceed with
purchase because you cannot get a refund
on an item if you send it to the wrong
character now it's that that is that's
how critical it is at this point proceed
a payment and boom you're done now the
jump potion won't show up immediately in
game but it will be mailed to you I
noticed that it did take at least an
hour or two before it showed up but then
it was here and it was ready to go
you're gonna get the jump potion
essentially it's a book you're gonna get
enough platinum pieces to kind of give
you 300,000 Gil and you're also gonna
get a chest which contains all of your
level 60 gear now you can't use the jump
potion unless you're in a city using it
it's going to fade to black and then
there you go
and you're gonna log back in and that
job is going to be at level 60 now upon
logging back in you're gonna be greeted
with this piece of artwork and the
game's gonna be telling you about this
epic journey and this adventure that
you're on the friends that you'll meet
etc now it's not necessarily that flashy
this was actually one of the things that
I found really surprising with the whole
process it just didn't seem to have a
lot of fanfare and I guess maybe that's
fair because obviously the fanfare of
leveling up is one of the things that's
really great about Final Fantasy and
then the lack of fanfare here just seems
to be okay it's interesting right anyway
so from this perspective and then logs
you into the game
and one of the really cool things that
actually liked about it is it's going to
put you into the trials of the novice
right at the beginning now I believe you
can completely skip over this but this
is where your effort comes into play the
most be sure to complete all the
challenges within the trials of the
novice this will help you get a little
bit more familiar with your skills as
well as kind of play around with your
setup and your loadout if you jump from
1 to 60 there is a lot of stuff here to
cover and even if you ended up jumping
halfway from 30 to 60 there's still a
lot of core gameplay elements to cover
so go through the trials the novice
would be step one step two would be just
make sure you spend time reading all of
your tooltips this is just where you go
into your action traits and try to get a
good understanding of what each skill
does most likely you're not going to
become an expert right away from reading
all these skills and that's okay but
what you want to do is try to get
familiar with it try to spend some time
testing out your skills on the target
down maybe try to spend some time going
around solo and kind of getting a good
feel for your new job
this will help set you up so that when
you do get into the various content with
other players that you're not completely
lost and that's really where the
frustration builds when players run
Roulettes it's really when they run into
a player who doesn't have an
understanding whatsoever of the job they
play and this is where frustration can
build within the community because if
you're going into group content there is
a certain level of expectation that you
have that you've applied it to this job
so don't rush into that don't be afraid
of it but don't rush into it because you
just want to try to make sure that you
have a good base understanding of what
you're doing
also don't be afraid to ask questions
the majority of the community is
relatively helpful and we always like
helping out new players so again
hopefully this guide has been a help now
wherever you fall regarding the jump
potion debate if you're a very anti jump
potion I respect you and your opinions
for it there's nothing wrong with not
necessarily liking the jump potion as a
concept at all I still don't necessarily
like the fact that they exist either but
I understand why and I can understand
both the business sense as well as the
time sense in our modern society but I
just like to encourage everybody because
of the sensitive nature of this topic to
be respectful of everybody's opinions in
the comments below
regardless of if they're respectful of
yours anyway guys for work
