hello everybody and welcome to my video
on the top 5 best items in risk of rain
- this video is intended for two types
of people number one catering towards
you newer players that are looking for a
quick bite size explanation of the best
items to look for in any run as well as
those of you who are pretty experienced
which case I'd like to have some
discussion taking place on the items and
their power and what should be done in
accordance to how strong they are or if
anything should be done at all if you
haven't checked out my complete item and
equipment tier list I highly recommend
you watch it before this video
especially for newer players that don't
quite know what each item does also I
will be following up this video with a
top 5 worst items in risk of rain - as
well as another separate video covering
5 things I'd like to see change with the
game in general so if you're interested
in that content definitely be on the
lookout let's begin with the top 5 best
items in the game first some honorable
mentions shaped glass and gesture of the
Drowned while these lunar items are
extremely powerful in the right
circumstances especially shaped glass
they both requires some setting up to
fully showcase their power don't get me
wrong they are very good items but in my
opinion the other items we're about to
discuss are a bit better
due to requiring much less investment
you just pick them up and instantly feel
their power in most situations if you'd
like more detail on what makes these
lunar items powerful check out my tier
list but the gist is that shaped glass
stacking requires heavy mitigation
through healing and gesture requires
either a good amount of fuel cells
and/or the right equipment to be
extremely impactful taking a gesture
with a prion is no good if it's
constantly shooting the ball at nothing
so starting off here at number 5 we have
the tougher times or teddy bears yes
stacking teddy bears is what makes them
insanely powerful but even just
acquiring a single bear ups your
survivability by a large margin
aside from just not getting hit bears
are the best form of defense in the game
and I've saved many of my runs by
blocking things like late-game golem
beams as you pick up more bears the
scaling effect it diminishes basically
the first pay you pick up is a thirteen
point four percent chance to block while
ten bears is sixty percent you can see
by this chart how this plays out exactly
but because of their logarithmic scaling
you don't want to go too overboard and
endlessly stack them unlike some of the
other items we'll talk about but you
definitely need more than like five to
truly feel their power so for that they
will start the list out of here at
number five
moving on to fourth place we have these
ceremonial daggers while these do
require some other investment namely
some on head effects like ukuleles hmmm
wonder if those are on the list at all
and some will of the whist
the power of the daggers cannot be
understated with only a single stack
ceremonial daggers can be responsible
for wiping the entire screen later into
a run just by killing a single monster
if you've seen any God run videos which
let's be real of course you have because
they're all over the place these are
probably what's doing most of the
insta-death screen clearing stuff but
we're teddy bears required multiple
stacks to truly hit their full potential
daggers heavily lean on the amount of on
hit or on kill effects you have so this
is nicely here in 4th place here in
third place we have another item that
synergizes with on hit effects but in a
slightly different way instead of
requiring you to actually kill something
these kind of just happened when you hit
stuff that's right we're talking about
the ukulele and the sentient meat hook
these are tied for third because they
basically serve the same purpose to proc
your other on hit effects to as many
enemies as possible I get asked quite a
lot on my streams why ukulele is so good
and the answer is this the amount of on
hit procs this item is responsible for
while itself being an on hit item so not
only do your attacks proc your other on
hits like atv missiles and fire band as
usual but the hits of the ukulele also
proc the same on hits now factor in the
fact that it changed to multiple enemies
and you can start to see its power
basically as soon as you pick up a
ukulele killing multiple bosses is
always faster than killing a single one
to do how many procs are taking place
between the chaining of the ukulele the
meat hooks are functionally the same as
the ukulele - the chaining between
Monsters and it has the added benefit of
pulling in monsters think of it like an
on hit black hole cube while this
clustering effect is very powerful and
really helps cascade your overall damage
the fact that a meat hook is a red item
and therefore a much rarer item to get
in a run makes it tied with the ukulele
in my opinion we only have a couple
items left here so if you've been
following my content for some time you
probably know what one of the two items
are at the very least coming in at
number two
old guillotine this bad boy was added in
the June update and a holy moly is it
strong first things first let's talk
about how it scales the initial stack
gives you an execute so instantly
killing any monster that is at or below
20% HP as soon as you damage any elite
in this special they will die and this
includes teleporter bosses that have an
elite ethics like blazing or glacial
however the plus 5% per stack does not
simply add straight to that 20%
threshold to stacks is not a 25% execute
but rather the scaling worst
logarithmically like the teddy bears
meaning the more stacks you have the
less potent it's scaling becomes I don't
know the exact numbers but here's a
picture of the scale you can see that
five stacks is around 50% HP while 15 is
almost a 75% execute give or take it's
also important to note that you will
never reach a 100% execute threshold as
in you won't ever like sneeze on an
elite and take them out instantly as it
looks like the soft cap is around an 80%
execute threshold which regardless is
still ridiculously strong seriously
being able to kill elites in the blink
of an eye is an invaluable tool to have
especially with the newly added
malachite elites not only is their
effect dangerous making you unable to
heal for eight seconds after being hit
by any malachite damage but they are
also just straight-up tankier than every
other monster elite or not guillotines
ra malachite it's worst nightmare and
therefore your best friend easily the
best common item in the game and overall
the second best right behind our Lord
and Savior the clover did you guys have
any doubts the 57 leaf clover is the
best item in the game hands down now if
you have literally no items to do with a
chance then this item is a useless
pickup totally didn't have a run today
on stream where I died with the clover
on stage to or anything so I'm gonna
take my time on this stage because I am
gonna try and kill the lizard boys whoa
I jumped right into that I've dumped
right into that do
get away from me don't you dare but
chances are you have at least one item
in fact you're pretty much guaranteed to
have multiple items that are affected by
clover when you get a clover and from
that point forward literally any item
you pick up that is related to chance is
made almost twice as powerful with the
clover yes it's that good again I get
asked quite a bit what the clover does
exactly so here is a quick explanation
if something has a chance to happen and
does not happen the clover will reroll
that chance
it doesn't quite double the odds but it
comes quite close the exact formula is
here on screen but if you're a pig a
brain like me and you don't have an idea
what this is saying just know that
multiple clovers makes it considerably
more powerful as it adds another reroll
to the chance of something happening to
put in perspective just how powerful
this rolling is let's say we are
currently sitting at 30% chance to
critically strike I actually mr.
streamer strikes videomaker it would be
a 31p enchantra crit because every
character has a page critical change of
1% if we're having exactly 13 it could
never happen
okay mr. stream in your video makeup you
get a right next time okay thank you all
right all right that is true so let's
say we have a 31% chance to creating a
single clover brings our crit up to 52
percent from 31 now let's say we find
two more pairs of crit glasses now we
have a 51% chance to crit before the
clover oh did I say 51% chance I mean
76% chance to create with the clover
oops yeah that's right you would
essentially get two extra pairs of crit
glasses for free with the clover now
consider the fact that literally
everything to do with chance
so ATG missiles ukuleles meathooks
equipment procs like Roy capacitors and
prey on accumulators and you can now see
how nutty this thing is not only is it
the strongest item in the whole game but
it's also the coolest in my opinion
absolutely fantastic item and easily
deserving of the number one spot alright
and that pretty much does it with the
top 5 best items in risk of rain to let
me know your thoughts in the comments
below and if you're interested in the
upcoming top 5 worst items in the game
definitely be on the lookout if you'd
like to tell me why chroma bobble is
actually the best item in the game and
clover is trash you can check my stream
