- [Donnie] Hey, Donnie Smith here, and in this video
we're gonna show you how to remove a stereo
from a 2004 GMC Sierra.
First thing is turn the key on,
so you can put the shifter down and low,
so you can have access to the stereo.
Also you wanna put the steering wheel down all the way,
and this face panel, this trim panel, it's easy.
It just pulls off, it's got clips.
You gently pull it off,
you don't wanna break nothin',
and then once you get all the clips pulled out,
you'll just slide back on it,
you gotta take care, though,
you don't wanna hit the hazard light switch
or anything like that and break it.
But just carefully pull that off,
and now you have access to the stereo.
And this is really a simple stereo
'cause all you have to do is use
a seven millimeter and remove three screws.
There's one on the right,
this one that I'm unscrewing right here.
And then there are two on the left.
You unscrew those two,
and the stereo's ready to be pulled out.
It's really a simple stereo to remove.
Okay, I've got all three screws removed.
And now I am gonna grab the stereo and pull it out,
turnin' it off.
I was gonna try to put the shifter in park,
so I could turn the key off,
turn all the power off to the stereo,
but as you can see, it won't come out
because the shifter's in the way.
So I'm gonna have to put it down and low again,
and now I can pull the stereo out.
Now the wire's kinda tight in there.
You can't pull it all the way out,
but you're gonna pull it out enough
to where you can access the plugs in the back.
There's three plugs.
One of them is your antenna,
and then there's two other plugs
you'll have to take out of the stereo.
You can get it out far enough,
or you can get your hand back down behind it
and remove these plugs.
So I'm trying to get this antenna out right now.
Now this is the other plug,
I think I'd go to the antenna first,
so yeah, here I'm getting the antenna out,
and it just pulls out.
You don't really have to squeeze anything,
it just pulls right out.
And now the other two plugs,
you gotta push in on the ends of them,
and squeeze them, and then they'll pull out.
Now you may have to work it and wiggle it
just a little bit.
Sometimes they don't come out real easy,
but if you squeeze those ends and pull 'em out,
they will come out.
And once you got those three plugs out,
the radio's out, and now you're ready to do,
you know, to install a new stereo, whatever the reason is
you just took the stereo out.
So anyway, that is what it takes to take a stereo out
of a 2004 GMC Sierra.
Thanks for watching,
and we'll talk to you in the next video.
