hey guys welcome back to my channel so
in today's video I'm gonna be sharing
how to get rid of excessively frizzy
roots and I don't just mean like regular
frizz although the tips that I'm gonna
be giving in this video do work for just
you know standard you know everyday
run-of-the-mill frizz but specifically
in this video I'm gonna be talking to
excessive frizz like frizz to the point
where like you're just completely at a
loss of what to do your roots are so
frizzy it's hard to part your hair it's
hard to style your hair and the reason
why I'm gonna be doing this video is
because there is a point in time in my
hair journey probably for about a year
or my roots were just so so frizzy and I
had absolutely no idea why and so I
finally figured out what that was and I
want to share it with you guys now
before we get started it would really
mean a lot to me if you guys subscribe
to my channel especially if you find
this video or any of my other videos
helpful because I try to make content
that kind of demystifies the natural
haircare process and helps explain
exactly how I got to where I am today I
have 4 tips to share with you guys on
how I completely got rid of my frizzy
roots and 2 of them are very very
effective specifically the last if I
have to share with you guys completely
change the game for me and got rid of my
frizzy roots entirely but for me I find
that all four of these tips are
important because some of them help cure
frizzy roots and some of them help you
maintain not frizzy roots so let's get
into the video I mentioned earlier that
I suffered from super frizzy roots for a
while during my hair journey and I also
talked more to this in my natural hair
setbacks video where I go over a couple
the setbacks I've experienced and how I
got over them so if you want to know
more about how I got to a place where my
roots were just ridiculously frizzy I'm
gonna leave that video link below in the
iCard but basically when I first got to
college I just completely began
neglecting my hair and it wasn't
intentional it was just there was so
much going on like being a freshman
trying to learn the ropes trying to make
friends trying to keep up with all the
parties and everything if I'm being
honest I just completely put my hair on
the back burner and I didn't see any
effect of that until about six to eight
months intimately
my hair my hair just went crazy so the
first thing that I had to do was when I
got to a point when I realized that my
hair was just completely out of whack
and I had never experienced this
condition before I had to get really
honest about what I was doing in my
haircare regimen and what I wasn't doing
because like I said before I was
completely neglecting my hair and I had
to get honest with myself even though it
kind of hurt a little bit to know I
wasn't doing what I was supposed to be
doing I had to get honest about the
things that I wasn't doing so I could
start implementing them and repairing my
hair for all the damage that I had
inflicted on it so once you can
recognize what you're not doing that's
the things that you should first start
doing so for me what I wasn't doing was
cleansing my hair consistently and
really just exposing my hair to water
consistently so I would go about three
to four weeks without cleansing my hair
because it took so much time and I
really didn't have that much time I
would consistently put it off every week
every week until it got to the point
where one my hair was a big like ball of
tables and two like my hair was so dry
because it hadn't experienced water for
a month sometimes and because I wasn't
exposing my hair to water on a
consistent basis my hair got really
really dry and if you guys don't already
know dry hair leads to frizzy hair
because your hair when it doesn't have
any moisture inside of it it reaches up
to the environment to draw moisture from
the air and that's when your hair gets
frizzy like it's opening up its cuticles
to pull moisture out of the air and the
result of that is frizzy hair so because
I wasn't doing what I needed to do at
home my hair was trying to get what it
needed for me outside that's kind of
crazy and a little gross but basically
that's what it was so the first thing
that I had to institute was putting
myself on a consistent cleansing
schedule and I'll tell you guys that
basically I have to go through a whole
like hair care regimen transformation to
get rid of my frizzy roots it's not
gonna happen after one or two weeks of
doing the right thing I probably got rid
of my frizzy rooms after about three or
four months following a healthy hair
care regimen and it was a gradual
process of my hair getting less and less
frizzy and more and more manageable
until one day it completely was gone so
I started instituting a cleansing
schedule every two to three weeks at the
most and I also would rinse
hair in between that time if I felt like
my hair was dry or if I needed to
stretch my wash day past a two week mark
I would make sure I would at least
expose my hair to water so that it
wasn't dry and trying to draw moisture
from the environment now my second tip
is the second most important thing that
I did when I was trying to repair my
hair and get rid of my frizzy roots and
that was deep conditioning more
consistently I say this like all the
time deep conditioning is so important
but for me specifically because I wasn't
cleansing my hair for almost a month
I wasn't deep conditioning for almost a
month and then it got to a point
especially during my first semester of
being a freshman where I wasn't deep
conditioning my hair at all
I went six months without deep
conditioning my hair and the first one
or two times it was because like I was
too busy I didn't have the time and I
just figured I'll do it on the next wash
day and then when I saw that I didn't
really see like any negative impact of
not deep conditioning I just completely
stopped and like I said it took about
six months before I saw the damage but
when I did oh my gosh like oh it was so
bad and I had about two to three inches
of frizzy roots like my roots were
probably like this much of it would be
frizzy and then the rest of it would
just be you know regular curls that
still were damaged but it wasn't the
same texture as my roots because I was
neglecting my hair I wanted to make sure
that I got a very quality deep
conditioner and I want it to be super
consistent with it so I went and to deep
conditioning my hair every two weeks or
every time I cleanse my hair which will
be two to three weeks and I don't
remember specifically the deep
conditioner I was using but it was
probably a Shea Moisture deep
conditioner and that worked time for me
but you just want to make sure you're
getting a deep conditioner that makes a
difference for your hair like you really
want to make sure that it works for your
hair and you want to be very very
consistent with it indeed conditioner
with heat as well now the third thing
that I did was I began to get really
disciplined and really aware of whether
or not I was properly moisturizing my
hair and also layering products in the
way that helped me retain moisture
throughout the week and even longer and
so the first thing I had to do was learn
how to moisturize my hair and I learned
that especially when my hair is damaged
it likes to be moisturized twice a day
so what moisturize my hair
and night and I would do that by
spritzing water over my hair and then
ceiling in the moisture from the water
with an oil or a really lightweight
cream and that's how I moisturize my
hair on a day to day basis and then on
wash day I begin experimenting with the
loc method and the LCL method so the loc
method is the leave-in oil cream method
and that's the order that you apply your
products and then the lco method is the
leave-in cream oil method and that's the
order that you apply your products so I
learned that my hair worked very well
with the LCL method the loc meant that
was like really popular at that time and
I tried to make my hair like go with
this method because so many people said
that they had success with it but surely
it didn't work for me so I went back to
what I was originally doing like from
the very beginning of my natural hair
journey which was the LCL method and
that method really really works for me
when it comes to retaining moisture
throughout the week I rarely will put
just one or two products on my hair and
expect my hair to stay moisturize I
almost always seal my hair with an oil
and it really helped increase my
moisture levels so the point where now I
can go without product for a few days
and my hair is still moisturize because
I just took so much time and discipline
over the past few years to really infuse
moisture into my hair and make sure that
I was on top of keeping it from getting
dry and brittle and you also really want
to pay attention to what your hair is
telling you when you're trying to keep
it moisturized so even though I had it
in my mind that I was gonna moisturize
my hair twice a day sometimes I wouldn't
need a little extra moisture like if I
had been out in the Sun and I what
moisturize my hair at 3 times a day or
again like I said earlier if I couldn't
wash my hair in the two week mark that I
had said I would rinse my hair with
water and then just apply some cream and
some oil to keep my hair moisturize
until I had the time to wash it and
detangle it and go through my whole wash
- feel so what I recommend while you're
trying to get your moisture levels up is
protective styling now this doesn't work
for everybody I know a lot of people
don't like protective styling and they
actually maintain moisture better in a
wash and go but for me I maintain
moisture so much better when my hair is
in a protective style and actually the
style here I had twisting for 12 days
and then this is a twist out that's
probably like three days old I want to
say
four days old and my hair is still
SuperDuper moisturized so what do you
choose to wear your hair and twist
braids braid extensions or even a weave
what really works for me was keeping my
hair like twisted and braided because I
was able to keep my hair moist and
nourished easier because it was all
compacted together and I could
moisturize it you know a lot easier than
if it was loose and it would hold that
moisture a lot better and it would be
moist throughout the days and throughout
the week and then also just having it
braided up and put like away kind of
kept it out of my mind so out of sight
out of mind and it kept me from getting
like a defeatist mindset because I
wasn't constantly dealing with my frizzy
bruised I wasn't constantly seeing it I
didn't constantly focus on it because it
was something that I really did want to
fix but I was kind of going through the
process of fixing it so keeping it out
of your way throughout the process can
really just alleviate a lot of stress in
my opinion and frustration and then
wearing a protective style also helps to
stretch your hair so that when you go to
wash your hair it's a lot more
manageable because the frizz has been
stretched out and is it just drawing on
itself constantly throughout the days
and making it harder for you to detangle
later on throughout the week now we're
gonna get to the tip that made the most
impact the tip that nearly got rid of
all of my frizz and well honestly it did
it got rid of all my frizz the first
go-around of using it but this was after
months of using the other three tips
that I mentioned prior so basically
improving my hair care regimen plus this
other tip that I'm going to give really
help just completely eradicate my frizz
and since that point I've never dealt
with it again and my final tip is doing
a cherry Lola treatment now a cherry
Lola treatment is something that you can
make at home is something that you
perform yourself you don't go out and
buy it if you haven't heard of it
already
it's a haircare treatment that was made
by a youtuber in 2009 and her name is
cherry Lola and so basically what you do
is you take three ingredients that you
can find very easily in your fridge or
at the grocery store and those three
ingredients are organic full fat plain
yoghurt and you want to make sure you
get full fat yogurt not Greek yogurt or
I don't know almond yogurt like it needs
to be completely organic yogurt with
milk
and then you're gonna take some liquid
and amino acids and then lastly you're
going to take baking soda and I'm gonna
leave these three ingredients down below
just so you can see them um kind of up
close and personal really look at what
they are but basically these three
ingredients are gonna make a super
intensive protein treatment for you
that's really helpful for damaged hair
as well as very very frizzy hair so I
learned about the cherry Lola treatment
after about two to three months of
really being disciplined and aware of
what my natural hair care regimen looked
like so enhancing my hair care regimen
it helped but it didn't cure the problem
and for a while I was kind of worried
about doing it because it used baking
soda and that just didn't sound like it
was healthy for your hair but the way
that it works in my opinion is that the
baking soda helps to open up your
haircare cuticles so it lifts your
haircare cuticles and allows the rest of
the treatment to fully penetrate your
hair and really deliver those nutrients
to your hair cortex and the nutrients
that you're going to be delivering are
the sixteen amino acids from the liquid
amino acids in the recipe and amino
acids are vitamins and proteins that
help to restructure hair they help to
nourish your hair and they're really
really good like honestly it's kind of
like the magic ingredient like it works
super duper duper good and then the
other ingredient which is yogurt it
helps because it makes the treatment
more creamy it helps to like moisturizer
here and not dry it out and then also
the way in the yogurt has lactic acid
and that helps to decrease your frizz
and kind of break down your frizz as
well so that's just my speculation
around why IV treatment works this isn't
like a scientific thing this is just
something that somebody made up in her
kitchen and it's helped so many people
years and years from now and for me I
was very wary but it worked instantly
like I put the treatment in my hair and
I was just trying it to see if it would
help and when I wrote the treatment out
all of my frizz was gone it's crazy
because the way that you use the
treatment if you have a finer hair
texture you can use it about one to two
times a month and if you have hair
strands that are a little bit thicker
and are a little bit more resilient you
can use the products up to three to four
times a month and so I originally
planned
doing a cherry Lola treatment every
single month but upon doing it that one
time like I literally had no need to do
it again and I never did a treatment
after that so I did the cherry little
treatment one time probably back in like
2015 ish I want to say 2015 20
yeah about 2015 I think and I had never
had to do it again and now sometimes
like I feel friends coming on and I
don't worry about it because I know how
to get rid of it if need be but usually
the frizz is coming from the fact that I
have a deep condition in about two to
three weeks or I've been using deep
conditioners that don't agree well with
my hair and my roots kind of start to
rebel a little bit well I will be doing
a video on how to make your own cherry
little treatment in case you guys are
curious and want to see how I made mine
so those are all of my tips of getting
rid of frizzy roots especially
excessively frizzy roots I just made
sure that I exposed my hair to water
more often and cleanse on a more
frequent basis Ivete conditioned
regularly with a quality product and
with heat my third tip was properly
moisturizing your hair and as well as
layering your products so that you can
retain moisture throughout the week and
then lastly my secret weapon the one-two
punch was the cherry level of treatment
and that drastically made a difference
in my hair and absolutely change the
game for me and again I am gonna be
making a video showing you guys exactly
how I make my treatment so if you guys
have any other advice besides what I did
to get rid of frizzy roots if you've
ever experienced frizzy roots and came
out on the other side a triumphant make
