there with our kids on the ice doing the
hockey thing well we've got a little DIY
that I think that will make the whole
season make sense for you please welcome
Leanna there / oh they're going to start
I've actually got no.18 hanging up right
over there they're ready to go should
have been ready to go thing ever this is
such a Canadian story right is so many
parents um have the kids there on the
ice so we're gonna talk a little bit
about hockey but about DIY hobby
projects exactly so whether you play the
sport or you're like the number one
couch fan or like myself with kids that
are now really super interested in it I
thought what can I do to bring elements
of the game into the home that aren't
super tacky can that be honest there's
that point when you can go overboard and
I'm all for like the fan cave in the man
cave and like having fun there but
there's ways I think that you can
intersperse the sport into the rest of
your home and just have it a really cool
talking point like a real focal point
that single piece so I brought a bunch
of ideas I'm not saying do all of these
that would be a little overkill but one
or two I know as I was creating these my
son was like this so the little bits and
pieces so I'm going to start with a
piece right beside you here oh this is
an Marvin and let me tell you if
anybody's looking at this and thinking
the feeling that they're a little
intimidated this was a one hour project
really and I'm not even kidding you
okay so whether you have sticks that
your kids have outgrown yeah or honestly
go and troll the skating rinks and find
broken sticks to repurpose for all of
these projects this one I did pick up
three new sticks because I wanted it to
be super sturdy so I picked up the
sticks from Walmart and all I did was
pre-drill the holes right and if you can
see in the center I've used pucks as the
connector yeah let me tell you these are
pop it is like butter drilling through a
puck it is so easy is it it is they
drove so easily
if you've ever gotten one of these in
the head you wouldn't know you really
you really wouldn't think but those are
connectors and then I picked up a pack
of the simple hooks that I added on to
the the outside of the of the posts and
you know what it's a great little piece
whether like my son this is going into
his bedroom yeah cousin instead of doing
this what the end of the game any
motivation to get him to clean his
bedroom ready make the hooks really low
so the really ones actually reach it
this is a very smart idea my dream it's
great now another thing that I thought
was so so simple and you don't have to
get crazy with the DIYs yeah was to hang
up some of your team jerseys this I
think would be great over a bedroom like
over a bed love that board wall with any
child's favorite team all I've done here
is obviously use the stick but what's
hiding underneath are a couple I can
step up here and show you a couple
little hooks so I actually haven't
compromised the stick at all so it's a
favorite if it's a favorite stick that's
maybe been signed show it off and just
slide the Jersey right on as well so big
one small one down here oh that's candy
size it's a great way to display them
off very nice well my husband would say
take the leaves off of it on the house
well maybe he would prefer that yes my
god leo covered the hanging of which I'm
calling this the Hat Shrek hanger
so this too was really simple project
just at the dollar store these little C
hooks yeah I didn't even need to
pre-drill these they just screwed in on
their own really easily so great for
front-hall great for again displaying
your team hats or just in a bedroom
perfect I love it I even like this
little one so you know having antlers on
the wall sibling at which I thought for
a hockey fans Christmas tree this could
be kind of awesome stickies at the top
right instead of a star these were just
the castoffs of some of these projects
that I had and I thought well what can I
do with them yeah so again simply
screwing from the back right through
from a hockey puck into the the base of
the stick and then I just put a hanger
on the back and again great for a quick
coat hook in the front hall oh that's
what it is well or or half a nailer very
functional so speaking of functional
these are both I think these are
brilliant this would be my choice
because this is the you know the least
sort of obnoxious way to get back into
your room right you don't even notice
that first glance exactly what's going
on
that's actually stick and this is was a
broken one that I that I pulled out of a
band so this I just thought was super
sweet I used a piece of masonite board
printed on the computer first school so
for I'm hoping my little Nolan will get
his first goal in the net this year I'm
gonna hopefully steal that puck you know
I am you will you'll get this little
shadow box as a nice little memento for
him so he can always aside for him to
talk about and be proud of as well and
then this last one was super easy and
what I love about this again just with
the hockey sticks around
I've actually painted this backdrop here
it's a really great dry erase product by
rust-oleum to parts so I just took
masonite board primed it painted it so
you can go really big yeah with this as
well would be amazing over a work home
workspace or desk and then I've added
the puck is just obviously a little
added decor but an easy spot just to
drop your little marker there's where
your just amazing
I'm wishing the boys the best and I will
be following your Instagram because they
are gonna be full you know I'll have
them pregnant Lily
