hello in this video i'm going to show
you how to increase your steam download
speed now this video is going to be
broken up into three parts
how to specifically increase your
download speed on steam how to speed up
your internet speed
and how to speed up your disk speed so
you can install games faster
so for the first part you want to
navigate to the top left click on steam
and go to settings from here you want to
go to downloads
and we're going to change a few things
here so under download region
you want to make sure that this is set
to the closest place to you
this setting determines where you're
downloading games from so which
so the location of the server so you
want to set this closest to you
to get the highest speeds also here you
want to make sure the limit bandwidth 2
is unticked
because you want to set no limit to the
amount of data that can be downloaded
per second
and finally you want to clear your
download cache now
bear in mind this is going to log you
out so for some reason if you can't do
that if you can't log back in
then don't do this but yeah this is
going to clear all the cache
and it says that my this might resolve
issues downloading or starting apps
so click ok and it's going to log you
out so you do have to log back in
okay so once you've logged back in you
want to go down to your start menu
right click and go to task manager from
here you want to find steam client
bootstrapper
i'm going to right click on that and
click go to details
um if you scroll down steam.exe is going
to be highlighted i'm going to right
click on that
go to set priority and set it to high
and then click change priority so what
this is going to do
is if you have steam open at the same
time as other things and you're
downloading stuff on steam
your pc is going to prioritize that over
the other applications on your pc so
once you've done that you can just close
that task manager
and that's that part done okay so now
i'm going to show you how to speed up
the internet on your pc in general
so the first thing you want to do is go
to your control panel
and you want to go network and internet
then network and sharing center
and then you want to click on change
adapter settings on the left
here you want to double click on the
network that you're using and then you
want to go to properties
now you want to find the internet
protocol version 4 double click on that
then you want to tick the use the
following dns server addresses
option and under here you want to type
in
eight eight eight eight and eight eight
four four okay so this is going to use a
specific dns address
that should hopefully speed up your
internet connection if you find that
this doesn't work
then you can always change this back by
just clicking obtain dns server
addresses automatically so once you've
done this you just click ok
and then ok again and that's that done
okay next
i'm going to right click on your start
menu again and go to device manager
from here you want to go to network
adapters and then if you're using
an ethernet connection like i am you
want to find this ethernet connection
option but you might be using a wireless
connection so
i don't have that but if that's there
for you then double click on that
you want to go to advanced and then you
want to find large send offload v2
um so if you only have the ipv4
then you want to set the value to
disabled but if you also have the v6
you want to set that one to disable as
well once you've done that just click ok
and that's that step done
okay so now i'm going to show you a
couple of things that should increase
the speed of your computer
in general so this should help to
increase the installation speed of games
so now that your download speed is
quicker we're going to try to increase
the installation speed as well
so the first thing you want to do is go
to the description of this video and
copy the cmd
command that i've left there now what
you want to do
is open the command prompt and
then you just want to paste in that
command and press enter
so what this is going to do is enable a
power
option called ultimate performance what
this is going to do is
increase the amount of power that's
going to your pc which
should speed up your computer so from
here and open the start menu
and you want to go to your power and
sleep settings and then on the right
you want to click on additional power
settings if you have in a small window
like this
just scroll down it's here and then you
should see the ultimate performance is
an available option
and from here you want to select that
and then there might be like okay
in the bottom right here you click ok
and then that's that stuff done
okay so the last thing you want to do is
open your start menu again and search
your game bar
controller settings so once you have
this open
all you want to do is just switch off
the game bar if you actually use it then
you might want to turn it on
afterwards but i think that the majority
of people don't actually use this
so what it actually is is a background
process that you can use to
record or stream your gameplay but even
if you don't use it it's always going to
be there in the background
so if you don't use it then it's best to
turn this off and free up some of your
pc's resources
so you can use this to increase the
installation speed of your hard drive or
ssd
another tip is under game mode if you
turn this on
then while you're playing the game this
will actually prioritize any
applications that
windows detects as a game over anything
else so this is just like an extra tip
while you're actually playing the game
you want game mode on so this should
actually increase the
performance of the game itself but yeah
once you've done that you can just close
out the settings
and that's the step done okay so the
next step is to scroll down and hit the
subscribe button
and also if you found this video helpful
give it a like as well okay yeah but
that's it for this video
thanks so much for watching and i'll see
in the next one goodbye
you
