Hi, I'm Emi!
So, one of the most frequently asked questions from you guys -
everyday on DMs, comments -
is how to slim face.
It's something that a lot of people struggle with and many would go to plastic surgery these days to get it done -
but if you want to naturally slim down your face, it's definitely not impossible.
So, in today's video I'll show you guys the top 4 most effective things you can do to make it happen.
Number 1 is cardio and full-body fat burning exercises.
Maybe you think: "Why? I just want to burn fat on my face, the rest of my body is fine."
The fact is that when we lose weight,
we lose weight overall and not just from one targeted part.
So, it means if we want to slim our face and burn off the extra fat stored around this area -
then we need to reduce our overall body fat, and luckily for a lot of us, when we lose fat -
it shows on our face first.
So the key to burn fat is with cardio that increases your heart rate.
There are many different options of cardio.
You can do, for example, all the full-body HIIT workout videos on my channel.
I'll put a link right up here.
You can also go jog, run, swim, dance, bike.
Do it at least 3 to 5 times a week.
Number 2 is facial exercises.
Even though we cannot target only face fat, the good news is there are 43 muscles in our face.
If we just neglect them, as time goes, they will be sagging and aging and becoming loose.
By exercising and working these muscles,
we can tone, lift and tighten them, and hence make our face look slimmer.
Number 3 is managing your diet.
There are a number of things you can do:
First is reducing your calorie intake.
As we mentioned earlier, when we lose weight overall, that includes our face.
So, a combination of exercises and a healthy diet ensures that our bodies burn more fat than the amount we consume.
Hence, the body and face loses the fat.
Second is cutting down our sodium intake.
When our body has excess sodium -
it holds extra water and that leads to bloating and swelling which shows the most in the face.
So, less salt, less instant processed food.
For example, a lot of chips and snacks and canned food which normally contain higher levels of sodium.
When you do grocery shopping, check the food labels and the percentage of sodium in it.
Third is having less added sugar in your diet because -
it also contributes to excess weight gain and body fat, which again, that includes your face.
Natural sugars, such as in fruits and vegetables, is fine -
but added sugar in dessert, drinks, sauces, snacks and other processed foods -
are the ones we need to reduce the amount we eat.
It will help with not just slimming down your face and your body, but also improving your health significantly.
Fourth is eating less refined carbs.
For example white bread, pizza and pasta made with white flour,
white rice, dessert, many breakfast cereals.
The reason is: refined carbs causes inflammation -
and increased fat storage in our body and in our face,
and also the fact that it is low in fiber and digests very quickly.
It also leads to a high chance of overeating.
So, instead of refined carbs, you can choose whole grains.
Some of the healthiest ones are brown rice, whole wheat products,
for example whole wheat wrap, my favorite, whole wheat pasta, whole rye bread, quinoa.
Fifth, there are certain foods that will help with your complexion and how your skin looks.
For example red peppers and oranges that are rich in vitamin C -
which is used to make collagen to provide structure to our skin, giving it elasticity so there's less sagging.
Healthy fats like avocado, walnuts, foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon
can also help with reducing swelling and inflammation -
and at the same time improve and brighten your skin.
6, drink more water.
Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
Not only does it help in reducing fluid retention and hence less bloating and puffiness in your face;
studies also found it helps decrease your calorie intake because you feel more full and it increases metabolism,
hence the number of calories you burn through the day.
7, less alcohol.
Apart from just being high in calories,
it's also one of the biggest reasons to a bloated and swollen face.
If you want to know more about my diet and what I eat on a daily basis, I'll put the video link up here.
I also post on my Instagram story what I eat every single day to give you more meal ideas.
The last step of this video is getting enough sleep.
Lack of sleep will increase your stress hormones, and some of the side effects are -
increase in your appetite, affecting your metabolism,
which lead to increased fat storage.
When you get better sleep,
you'll also feel more motivated and energized throughout the day -
to move, exercise and lose weight more, isn't it?
So, these are my top 4 tips for you if you want to slim down your face naturally.
