at gages marwella bangalore a ringworm
is an infection caused by a fungus not
by a worm
this infection can affect any part of
your
skin in fact it can affect your hairs
and nails as well
it presents as itchy rash which slowly
spreads
involving various body surfaces in the
past few decades
we are encountering cases of ringworm
which are
extensive and recurrent the cause of
this change in pattern of infection is
not known
it could be the environmental factors or
change in the fungal species
or could be irregular treatment more
important
is the misuse of topical steroids the
treatment for ringworm infection
includes
oral medications as well as creams to be
applied
please follow your dermatologist
instructions
and do not stop the treatment before
your doctor advises to stop it
as the infection can recur knowing how a
ringworm spreads
helps in preventing the infection
dryness of your skin
discourages the growth of fungus on your
skin
so a regular bath followed by a thorough
drawing
is very important avoid use of occlusive
clothing
and non-porous clothing which keeps your
skin moist
all your clothings should be washed
regularly
all the clothings and bed linen of the
infected patient
should be washed separately and better

to get rid of the fungus avoid sharing
of soaps
towels bed linen or other personal
belongings
if you have a infected patient at home
