hey guys today I'm out here in my yard
and I thought it'd make a video to show
you guys how to clean hard water or rust
stains from a toilet or basically
anything made out of porcelain I've seen
in a lot of videos that people might buy
a toilet from the restore or salvage
yard or they could even leave one
installed and not flush it for a while
and they could develop a ring or the
bolts get rusty
and it makes a giant rust streak down
the wall inside the toilet
and I wanted to make this video to help
you guys out because it's actually
really easy to fix this if you can see
that this doesn't come off easy with
just a regular toilet brush this one's
kind of filthy because I've used acid on
it and cleaned up rust with it but
whatever it doesn't come and see it kind
of left a couple streaks in there but it
would take forever to get that stain
completely gone and if you use a pumice
stone it's the same thing it comes off a
little bit but not much you wouldn't
want to have to go along that whole
stain with a pumice stone if you use
muriatic acid this will just melt away
basically and you can buy this in the
paint section of Walmart so it's pretty
easy to find it's cheap I think it's
like six or seven bucks for a bottle
this size might be a little more I don't
know I'm Bonnie in a while but what I do
and you're gonna want to do this outside
because it can let off some pretty
terrible fumes if you absolutely have to
do it inside make sure there's
ventilation and don't breathe it in
because that would probably suck anyway
here we go
you can see instantly if the stain just
changes colors and melts away now if you
take the brush it's gone it's completely
gone and this doesn't just work on rust
stains which are actually pretty easy to
remove it also works on hard water some
of the thicker parts might not come off
right away I don't know we'll see but
this dinner stuff should be pretty easy
just pour it in
you'll actually have to scrub a little
bit that's gone now back here it's too
thick that's where you'd want to use a
pumice stone you grab it normally you'd
want gloves but if you're careful and
you don't splash the mirror out of gas
it everywhere you should be fine you can
see that it goes away it's not perfect
if you actually put a little more effort
in scrubbing it it'd probably be a lot
better but you can see it works it
really works well on some of the thinner
stuff even in tanks that are not glazed
like this one you see it's yellow let me
grab the brush if you get it wet
actually I just covered it in acid so
that probably wouldn't be a good test if
you get it wet and you try to scrub away
any of this stuff looks like it's coming
off just shining
see not if it's coming off at all but if
you take the acid and I'm gonna cheat
this back this bottle is kind of empty
so that's why I'm holding it like this
you can see it's just melting away it
actually cleans it up pretty good you
can't really see it that much with the
light and it's not gonna take out those
thicker stains again just like in the
bowl they do come out you'll just need
to put in a little more effort with the
pumice stone especially in an unglazed
tank like this one okay I didn't realize
that my phone was so low on battery and
it died so I waited a little bit it's
darker now so I turn on my light but
it's okay you can see the difference
better anyway this is basically what it
looked like before and this is after
like I said in the first video you're
gonna need the pumice stone to get rid
of some of the thicker rings around here
unless you want to soak the tank in acid
and if you wanted to do that you could
lay it down and like a plastic tub and
just pour enough acid in so that it
covered the stains you'd have to do it
one side at a time you can do the same
thing for a toilet bowl and if I did
that in here I wouldn't even have to
scrub at all it would just take care of
all the stains even the thinker ring
around the back
but anyway that's how you do it
like I said Marriot ik acid you can buy
it at Walmart you can get it online you
can also get a pumice stone at Walmart
or online but yeah that's pretty much it
I'll see you guys in the next video
