what is going on team acne and welcome
to another pretty quick video today I
want to talk to you about a little
update on redness and how to remove
redness now I have been doing some
research lately and there's a new term
in the dermatology world in the acne
world that I've never heard of before so
basically what we have heard of right
when you get red spots or dark spots
just spots on your face after acne but
it's not pimples it's not cysts it's not
active acne it's just those
discoloration spots what do we all call
it post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
or just hyperpigmentation right and so
there's a new thing actually that has
come out a new phrase or a new word
definition called post inflammatory
erythema and it separates the two types
of discolorations so hyperpigmentation
and I'm gonna do a more in-depth video
on this but I just want to give you a
brief little thing hyperpigmentation is
dark colored spots discolored but dark
color spots not the red ones and the
discolored dark spots are coming from
melanin in the skin but this other
phrase post inflammatory erythema refers
to the redness the red spots even after
your acne is gone and these red spots
are from engorged or damaged blood
capillaries and vessels under the skin
so that means that we need to address
them differently because they're two
different things once from melanin and
one is your actual blood capillaries and
vessels so I thought this is really
interesting actually I think it's really
cool that there's still advancements
that are happening in the you know in
the acne world and the dermatology world
I feel like oftentimes there's not
enough research there's not enough
studies going into advancing what we
know about acne because people generally
don't seem to care about it as much as
maybe they should yeah we're gonna talk
about how to get rid of those redness
spots those red spots after your acne is
gone so let's just go into it there are
four things that you can do and
unfortunately again there's not a ton of
research on other things so these are
the ones that pretty much have been
proved to work so the first one is
vascular lasers and so basically it's a
professional treatment you can't do it
yourself but the lasers will break break
down they'll go into your into your skin
and break down the capillaries and the
vessels and help them dissipate and then
your body will help to regenerate them
and correct it and it allow it to heal
up faster vitamin C serum so this one is
more anecdotal there's not a lot of
scientific evidence behind this but
loads of people have seen improvements
with their redness from this and you've
probably heard me say quite a few times
to vitamin C serum or just vitamin C of
any type that's in and you know in the
ingredients of maybe like a cream or
something you put on your face is has
shown to be really useful for people in
their own anecdotal experiences so yeah
I've heard about this for many years so
that's something that I would definitely
definitely go and look into vitamin C
serum the other thing is moisturizing
and the reason is because now that we
know a little bit more between the
differences of these two different types
of discoloration because we know that
it's the blood capillaries and the
vessels it seems that your skin will
kind of heal those areas faster if you
are moisturized if your skin is moist
and in a good condition versus being
very dry and flaky having a lot of dead
skin on the top layer versus you know
having different levels of dead skin on
certain parts of your face versus like
more moist areas so those are the three
things that you can actually do in the
finally the last one I know I said four
and I know this one's gonna kind of know
you because this isn't a really one that
you can do it's just time just waiting
because with me at least personally I've
seen my redness go away and it took
about I'd say it took about a year after
my acne completely was gone like I
didn't have any more active whiteheads
or cysts I was only getting a couple
pimples here and there every once in a
while then that redness stuck around for
a long time and I also was kind of
confused and was like is this acne or is
this not acne and it's just redness and
it was literally just like you could see
where it stopped and then my neck was
white but then everything here was just
completely red and talking about twelve
months for that to heal up and that's
what a lot of other people are saying -
somewhere between three to 12 months
maybe sometimes a little bit longer and
time will heal it up but those first
things that I mentioned the first three
things can help speed up that process so
I want to get this information out there
because I know a lot of people are
searching for that answer and hopefully
this is just going to give you a little
bit of a you know encouragement knowing
that you can do some things about it or
even if you do nothing about
there is something that's happening in
your own body that is helping it so you
don't have to feel like hopeless or like
you're maybe gonna have a red face for
the rest of your life hopefully this
video was helpful for you and again I
will do a video talking about these two
different terms and what you can do for
both of them in the future also if you
have any suggestions of what you would
like to see in my channel in the future
leave them in the comments below
I am excited I'm stoked about making
acne continent content so if you have
any ideas absolutely leave them down
there and if you have acne or redness or
scars or anything of the like remember
that you are not alone you are beautiful
and you are part of team acne see you
guys in the next video adios
