this is misty we hired her to take care
of our most problem a long time ago but
now at 20 she'd rather lay around on the
heat registers than do her job so I've
had to take over the job myself
with some research and some trial and
error I've gotten pretty good at it
41 catches in three weeks as a matter of
fact here are a few of my best tips for
catching mice without a cat this mouse
trap is pretty much the same design as
the original invention back in the 1890s
they've sold more than a billion of
these things and they still work and at
a buck apiece how can you go wrong but
by at least 10 if you have serious most
problems I'll tell you why in a minute
smear a little bit of peanut butter on
the trigger but not too much and use a
separate jar of peanut butter marked for
the little rodents don't use the family
peanut butter jar because you're bound
to double dip when you're baiting and
contaminate the jar the best night
you'll ever have setting traps is the
first one so set lots of them when you
start trapping after they see some of
their little buddies get nailed they'll
wise up and start avoiding your traps so
take a break from those areas for a
couple days or better yet lure them in
with baited but unset traps to get them
relaxed again then set the traps for
real it's no surprise that mice are fond
of pet food in fact my wife found a
whole pile of cat food under the
basement couch cushions Misty's food
dish is my single most successful
hunting ground I placed the trap between
the wall and her dish so she won't get
her paw broken if you find droppings
inside of drawers chances are they're
coming in underneath the cabinet and
climbing up the backside of the drawers
so pull out the bottom one and place
traps on the floor underneath it six is
the body count here this is the kitchen
out in my shop it's not quite as clean
as the houses which explains all of
these droppings the mice licked grease
off the surface even if it gets wiped
clean every once in a while so this is a
really good place to put traps but I
always place a paper towel under the
trap to keep some of the carnage
the top some of these kills can get a
little messy from time to time these
little hallways between cabinets and
appliances are natural corridors for
mice when they leave their bedrooms at
night but here's the real tip mice love
to travel close to walls so space traps
a couple feet apart and face them with
the triggers toward the wall that way
you'll catch them coming and going got
floor here mice love to come in around
electrical or plumbing holes like this
one they enter the grocery store through
that little hole at night to go shopping
so this is a great place to set a trap
bag six of them here so far I found lots
of droppings on this shelf got me to
thinking how the heck do they get up
here well my research told me that the
average Mouse can jump eight to ten
inches and can climb chords like Tarzan
and climbs binds so I figured they were
crawling up the cords I put some traps
down here and I've gotten three so far
hi I'm Brenda
the trappers wife if you ever get tired
of living with an obsessive Mouser who
spends his evenings plotting and setting
mouse traps all over the place real
romantic here's my advice when the cat
gets too old
just get a younger hungrier kitten yeah
well guess who has to change a kitty
litter so here's the deal
you got to think like a mouse to catch
one and that's a cinch for me they're
really not all that smart and they have
very short memories so if you're lucky
enough to have a mind like mine you
won't have any problem taking care of
your mouse use
