sometimes that pressure can make things
you know pop out down there
[Music]
hi guys and welcome to my channel so a
quick warning and disclaimer obviously /
what the title says I'm gonna be talking
about postpartum hemorrhoids in this
video and I'm going to be very candid
and very honest and if you think that
you may be uncomfortable with that now
is your chance to run but just want to
give that warning so without further ado
let's talk about postpartum hemorrhoids
there is an enormous bug flying outside
this window right now what is that so
starting from the beginning I didn't
have hemorrhoids during pregnancy so
that's not really something I'm gonna be
able to provide a lot of information on
other than the suggestions that I read
which were to drink lots of water make
sure you're getting enough fiber and
you're trying to stay as regular as you
can and then once you get to the point
where you're close to delivering
obviously there's a lot of pressure on
your pelvic floor and they say to when
you go to the bathroom to not sit there
for too long to just go do what you have
to do and then get out because sometimes
that pressure can make things you know
pop out down there moving on to right
after I had Logan so I did not have
hemorrhoids pop up or out until maybe
about two weeks postpartum so the first
thing I want to say about you know the
days after you have the baby
take your stool softeners like I cannot
emphasize that enough especially if you
need stitches I have a third-degree tear
I'll talk about that in another video
but I remember when the day came where I
was like okay this is gonna happen like
I had his bathroom do terror I felt was
overwhelming but it ended up not being a
big deal it didn't hurt it wasn't an
issue I went and that was that and I
attribute that completely to stool
softeners when mine did happen I think
that what caused it was a combination of
I wasn't drinking enough water I wasn't
eating well I wasn't you know able to
just go on you know the second I have to
go because I had a newborn and it was
just all of that and so the
that they started I guess you could say
I remember going to the bathroom and
just the warning very very candid maybe
TMI but it was very hard and it made it
very hard for me to go and I remember
after I was in so much pain I had to
come into the kitchen and go on medicine
cabinet and take one of my 800 milligram
ibuprofen that I got from the hospital
for postpartum recovery pain for my
stitches and stuff I had taken that in
over a week and I took one because I was
still uncomfortable and what made that
worse is you know obviously having Logan
and being so young I would sit in the
rocking chair a lot and rock and a lot
of pressure and I was miserable I'm
talking to the point of Tears so I dealt
with this for a long time what I mean by
that is I have been hemorrhoid free
since I'd say February and Logan was
born in January of 2017 January 31st
2017 and I didn't find complete relief
until February 2018 so yeah it was
absolutely miserable I remember wanting
nothing more than to just lay down to
get off my feet to get off my butt like
not to sit because the pain was so bad
so fast forward to my 6-week checkup the
doctor confirmed that I did have
hemorrhoids but mine were internal so if
you just just kind of got a peek you
wouldn't see anything they weren't out
there they were
valgar line this is embarrassing
it's it's an embarrassing subject but um
I am gonna go for it I'm going to be
honest so I told myself I was gonna be
hundred percent honest about all this
because I want to help somebody because
I couldn't find help so so that
confirmed that I did have them over the
course of the next 910 months I would
have days where they wouldn't bother me
at all and then all of a sudden I'd
flare up and I was miserable again and
when I ran out of my ibuprofen from the
hospital I started taking regular
ibuprofen and I'm going to tell you
everything that I tried I'm gonna tell
you what worked what didn't worked what
didn't work so I'm gonna jump into that
now
one of the first things that I read
about on the internet was six baths and
I'm sure that you've seen that somewhere
that term somewhere but basically you
fill up a tub or a basin with about that
much water just enough to wear it when
you sit in it it covers your parts and
you really warm water if you can you put
up some salt in there some people
suggest like essential oils and stuff
and the difficult part about six baths
is they want you to sit there for like
ten to twenty minutes in that warm water
and the reality of that happening with a
newborn or a very young baby you know
it's just like the real reality of being
able to drop everything and run to the
bathroom and poop the second that you
have to go it's just it's not always
possible so when I was able to do those
yes they helped but not exponentially I
would say that they maybe made the pain
about 40 30 to 40 percent less intense
so did they fix everything
absolutely not were they a good
supplemental treatment yes looking at my
notes to make sure okay so something
else that I found was difficult to do
was wiping wiping was
painful and that was mainly when they
were at like their full force of
flare-up um
and so I'm just gonna I'm just gonna say
it I would go and I would wipe the best
I could without putting myself into
tears and then I would get into the
shower or tub and we had the pulldown
showerhead so I basically used a bidet
type technique I you know got the water
really warm and I just clean myself off
almost like a bidet would because the
wiping hurts so much and so what
happened with that was did it help
absolutely it helped so much it kind of
acted like a soother like the sitz bath
would because it was warm water while
cleaning you off at the same time
obviously that's not something you can
do in a public restroom you can't you
know finish go in the bathroom and walk
across the bathroom with your pants down
and then sit on the sink and you know
that that's not possible but if you're
at home I encourage you to try it
because it really helped me but moving
on to products I used the first one is a
well known product good old
preparation-h and this is the cream this
just just a warning about this does it
help
it does help but it's messy like you'll
put it on and it's almost like it
multiplies like it it's like you put a
little bit on and then 30 minutes later
it's just a mess and so if you use it
just want to warn you like it's not
pleasant but it does help the second
thing I'm going to show you that is a
huge huge huge help for me it was a huge
help for me are these so it's really
really glaring there we go so
preparation-h has these medicated wipes
but I found that targets up and up ones
work just as well
but basically they are a lot more gentle
than just straight-up toilet paper and
they have the medication on them that
helps soothe the hemorrhoids ensued the
pain the discomforts that those are a
huge huge help so now the big one and I
mean it's the biggest product but not
literally like the big one meaning this
was the pivotal thing in my hemorrhoid
journey squatty potty get you one of
these down or yoga blocks worked just
fine but I got this for Christmas
Christmas of 2017 by February 2018 I kid
you not my hemorrhoids are gone and they
have not come back I don't know the
voodoo witchcraft or whatever it is with
this thing but they're gone and I
remember they like the pain had
obviously gotten more manageable partly
because I found soothing methods I had
found you know ways to cope and I think
partly because I had gotten accustomed
to the pain I remember like one day I
was just like oh my gosh like I just
went to the bathroom and it didn't hurt
at all and I was amazed but same time I
was like hey that's just a fluke you
know I must have drank a lot of water
yesterday or must have ate healthy
yesterday or something like that
it was the squatty potty I attribute my
end to hemorrhoids to the squatty potty
get you one like I cannot suggest or
push anything more than that squatty
potty and near there's off-brand ones
and again you can use yoga blocks if you
don't want to buy one right now if you
turn them on their side they're about
the same height just a forewarning the
if your hemorrhoids are actively
bothering you the first few times you go
it's going to be kind of a sharp at
least for me it was like a sharp
pinching pain when I went but after this
first couple times it was like nothing
so if those first couple times you go
you're like okay this actually can hurts
worse give it give it a couple days give
it about a week I believe that it will
get better mine got better and like I
said since February I have not had any
issues with them so I hope that this
video was helpful to someone again I
just want to say that I if you are
dealing with hemorrhoids right now I
know how uncomfortable they can get I
know how miserable they can make a
person so I am I feel for you I really
really do and I hope and pray and to the
bottom of my heart wish for you that you
know one or all or whatever of these
methods will help you manage them and
even maybe make them go away if you have
