welcome back to another tutorial video
today we're gonna be telling you guys
how to get rid of opossums whether those
be in your attic or outside so as always
this requires just a few easy steps but
before we get into it I just want to
make note that if you find a mother it's
likely there are babies there as well
sometimes they do get split up or
they're housed in different parts of
your home and so it's important that you
go back and find the babies if they're
not already together and you can do this
by luring them into a cage trap with
some wet cat food so moving on to the
first of the steps you're going to want
to identify all your entry points and so
typically these would be any holes or
gaps in your roof or any connectors
between your house and your roof it's
also common for the opossums to live
beneath your house or beneath a deck
instead of the Attic and so if this is
the case you're going to want to seal
off all these areas using a steel mesh
border and you're going to want to make
sure that you leave at least one portion
open for the trap by which you will
remove the opossums and if they're
eating any crops nearby you're going to
want to make sure to fence those off as
well so you're going to remove the
opossums one of two ways if they're in
the Attic you're going to remove them by
hand in which you will carry them by
their tail or with the snare Pole where
you wrap the loop around their neck
however removing them by hand is illegal
in some states so make sure to
double-check before you're doing
anything yourself if they're outside
you're going to want to set up a trap or
a one-way exclusion door and so here are
some examples of what those traps and
exclusion doors look like all traps
should be 12 inches by 12 inches by 32
inches and is ideal if you can set them
outside and not in the Attic and if you
set them outside make sure to put them
not in the Sun but in the shade
the next step is to release the animals
from the traps however it's important to
note here that it may not be legal to
trap and release opossums in your state
so only if it's legal you will release
them and when you do so you must make
sure that they are being released at
least five miles away from your property
the last step is to clean up any feces
or debris that may so be in your attic
or on the ground if you do need any
