all right y'all this is tom at bucks
donato and fate texas my website as
always is b-u-x-t-o-n-auto.com
i'm a buy here pay here car dealer i do
zero interest financing for everybody
and i finance probably two-thirds of my
cars i do have some that are cash only
my cars range in price from say 2 500 to
6 000 on average if you're watching my
video take a minute if you would hit the
like button the subscribe button and if
you want the little notification when i
put up a new video hit that little bell
in the corner as well so most of my
videos are about my cars the inventory
that i have the good the bad the ugly
about them and i do occasionally do
videos about title issues things like
that today's video is should i buy a
rebuilt title car so
in texas we have salvage titles which
are cards that came from the salvage
auction are not road legal they're pink
titles then there's a process you go
through to get them put back on the road
and then they become a rebuilt title
now people sometimes say well is it a
blue title or a brown title or but that
doesn't have anything to do with if it's
rebuilt or not rebuilt
so a rebuilt title is a car that was an
insurance loss
after the insurance company totaled it
they turned it into the pink title
it was sold as salvage
someone rebuilt it
took it to the state got it inspected
paid a fee and now it's a rebuilt title
so one of the things that people often
wonder is they assume that if it is not
a rebuilt title the car hasn't been
wrecked that couldn't be further from
the truth
the only precipice of it being a rebuilt
title
is that an insurance company totaled it
if the car was smashed to smithereens
and the person only had liability and
then sold the car
and then someone fixed the car
that's not a rebuilt title
so
remember
a rebuilt title or salvage title is only
when there is an insurance loss
and the insurance company chooses to
total the vehicle but the point to the
story here is should i buy one of those
cars
and i think it depends on what you're
trying to buy
so the cars that i sell twenty five
hundred three thousand dollars up to
about six thousand
a rebuilt title is not the end of the
world
my vehicles typically are a to b cars
or first time cars so
i guess the first thing is if i'm buying
a car for my son little billy and he's a
first time driver
i would be perfectly okay with buying a
rebuilt title car
why it's been inspected it passed
inspection
whenever you buy from a dealer you're
obviously capable of taking it and
having it looked at at a shop
now sometimes insurance companies won't
want to put like full coverage insurance
on it when it is a rebuilt title
sometimes they'll do it at a diminished
value so you'll want to check with your
insurance company first but here's the
thing to remember statistically little
billy is going to wreck this car
so why spend more for a car
particularly a first car for a young
driver when you know they're going to
wreck it i don't want to sound like a
jerk i've had three kids two out of my
three kids wrecked cars when they were
teenagers
so
that's not such a bad thing
another example where buying a rebuilt
title car is perfectly fine is if you
have you know a nice car you're trying
to keep miles off of
and you want some little fuel efficient
car that you're going to wear the hell
out of and go back and forth to work
there's nothing wrong with a rebuilt car
i mean it gets good's mileage it's the
throw down car it's not the keeper
i would be perfectly okay with it
where i would say don't buy a rebuilt
title car is in newer cars
if you are expecting to sell that car in
the near future or after a short period
of time
obviously rebuilt title cars do sell
cheaper
because they have been wrecked so
look at what you're going to do with
that car
after you're done with it
to determine if it's a right deal for
you
to buy the rebuilt title car or not
um if you're hunting down uh vintage
whatever or you want a brand new
something then you can't afford it so
you're looking for something cheaper
and you're going to keep it and love it
forever that won't matter if you're
buying it and you expect it to retain
value and you're going to sell it later
you'll want to consider that rebuilt
title so they're not the end of the
world you do need to be aware of what
you're doing and you need to really
realize what your purpose is for the car
before you decide to or not to buy a
rebuilt title
also if you're buying it from a texas
car dealer we are required to disclose
that it is a rebuilt title and i always
am willing to show the customers the
title
give the customer the vin number so they
can do their own inspections i had one
once that had a loss on it but never
reflected a rebuilt title
so
do whatever research you would like to
do with that vin number
take the card to an independent mechanic
or bring a mechanic with you these are
all things perfectly allowed in the used
car business to decide if it's right for
you
that's awesome i appreciate you sticking
it through to the end of the video i am
going to be making a video soon for used
car dealers that shows you how to take a
salvage title and go through the process
to convert it to a rebuilt title if you
have other title questions or things
you'd like to see on a video shoot me a
message i'm happy to show you whatever
information i have i only talk about
things in my videos that i've done first
hand
i feel like it gives me a better grasp
of the process and then when you all
send in your questions i usually can
answer them so anyway my name is tom
thanks for watching my video like
subscribe look through some of my other
videos i really appreciate you watching
me have a good day
