hi
i'm christine your florida family law
attorney and i'm here
for one more question so a client asks
how do i file for full custody well the
first thing that i ask a client is
why is it in your children's best
interest for you to have full custody
florida statute 61.13
lays out factors in a through t
that the judge looks at to determine
what is in your children's best interest
and if full custody or soul custody is
in your children's best interest
then that's what the the judge will do
but a lot of those factors
really break down what's going on in
your child's life
and how the parents are raising the
child
who's there for the child who is
spending time for the child
who knows the child do you know your
children's
friends teachers grades doctors
pediatricians
dentists neighborhood does your child
have a routine
does your child have a schedule does
your child
who's going to be taking care of the
children are
you going to be working is there going
to be an after-school care
is grandma going to be the one who has
to pick up the child
from school or take the child to school
at the um
in the morning so those things really
let the judge know what is in the
child's best interest by how you're
answering them
in court so the question is how do you
file for full custody well what you want
to do is you want to look at those
factors
and see how you would be answering those
questions how you would be letting the
judge know that it is in your child's
best interest
to spend the majority time with you
you
