heads up a severe vulnerability has been
found in the extremely popular 7-Zip
program on Windows if you have this
installed it has not been patched yet
but there is a current workaround which
is to go to the installation directory
and delete the file called
7-zip.chm and then you're good it won't
affect the program's usability at all
you just won't be able to access the
help files for 7-Zip that's because the
way the exploit works is it involves
creating a special malicious file and
dragging it into the help contents page
and as a result of some bug that
malicious file will have its privileges
escalated to the system level where it
can do way more damage but again if you
just delete that file I mentioned before
you'll be fine and also be on the
lookout for some kind of patch for 7-Zip
which will probably fix this and by the
way consider subscribing for more
