how to autofill alphabet in excel hello
everyone welcome to excel 10 tutorial in
this intermediate excel tutorial i will
show you how you can drag and auto fill
alphabet sequentially in microsoft excel
like if we write
january in any cell and if we drag using
the fill handle it autofills the monk
name okay but if we write here a and if
i drag using the fill handle it only
copies that same character but i want it
to be sequential like here a b c d until
z okay now how you can do it we are
going to find out in this tutorial let's
get started
[Music]
first you need to write the alphabet
sequentially for the first time you will
have to do it manually and it is a
one-time process once you have completed
this tutorial and you won't have to
write it again okay once you have
written it in your worksheet click on
file and then click on more and then
option select advanced scroll down
in the general section you will see
create list for use in sorts and field
sequence click here edit custom list
okay now here we have our list already
and now we are going to create another
so click here import list from cells
click here and select the cell reference
where you have your alphabet already
written okay click here and click on
import
so this is the list and here are the
list entries and now i'll have to click
here add and click ok click ok again
now let's write the first character here
a remember we added in capital letters
but we are writing here in small letters
but it doesn't matter hover your mouse
and left click and drag
and you can see these alphabets are
automatically inserted here okay now if
i drag it to the right it will do the
same thing okay so this is how you can
use a autofill option to create a list
of alphabet sequentially now what if we
close this workbook let's open another
rulebook
click on a blank document and let's
write a again and remember in this
workbook we haven't added the list okay
but still if we drag here our field
characters are working just fine so this
is how you can drag and auto fill a to z
sequentially okay this is what i wanted
to show you thank you thanks for
