Choose a high-quality variety of rice, such as Jasmine or Basmati. These types will have a better flavor and texture when cooked.
Measure out the amount of rice you want to cook. A ratio of 1:1.5 (one cup of rice to one and a half cups of water) is a good starting point.
Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch from the grains and prevents clumping.
Let the rice drain for a few minutes before proceeding.
Combine the rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
Cook the rice for 18-20 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed.
Remove the pot from the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
You can serve the rice as is, or add some seasoning for extra flavor.
Try adding a little salt, butter, or chopped herbs like parsley or cilantro.
Enjoy your perfectly cooked rice!
