welcome back everybody to another video
now if you missed yesterday's video we
talked about how amazon is now hiding
developer options on devices running
fire os 7 or higher so any future
updates on that device is now going to
hide your developer options like has
been previously done on the nvidia
shield now why amazon did this could be
a number of reasons whether it's to make
things harder to side load the device
because we all know developer options
gives you access to
unknown installs and adb debugging um or
if it's just a de-clutter attempt in
order to remove an extra step that
frankly i would say the average user
probably doesn't use unless you're a
streamer so today we're going to be
going over the fire stick running fire
os seven and i'm gonna be showing you
how to access developer options now on
your fire tv stick so make sure you
stick around for this full video and if
you're new to the channel smash that
subscribe button right down below it
takes two seconds and it helps my
content out a ton as well give this
video a big thumbs up and let me know
what fire tv device you're currently
running as well if you have a second go

let's go ahead and get into today's
video

okay so let's just go and get right into
it with your fire tv device so once
you're at your device just follow these
quick simple steps and in no time you'll
have developer mode re-enabled on your
device all right let's just get right
into it okay so here we are on our fire
tv stick now first thing you'll notice
is these new menu options that all of
you should have now we talked about this
a few times so they're just nice little
shortcuts that will give you access to
your home screen to your live and to
your basically your favorites as well
okay so in order to get to developer
mode we have to go all the way over to
our settings so that's that little tab
here now previously you would go to my
fire tv which we're still gonna do so
we'll click on it right here
and then from here you would have
developer mode literally right here in
between about and legal compliance okay
but as you can see the update i've done
the update and it's no longer there so
if we go here my fire tv you're going to
see i'm on version 7.2.8.5
and i think anything below that uh once
it's updated we'll also have it but
nothing with fire os 6. i've already
tested and updated my fire tv os 6 and i
have not noticed that so now to in order
to enable developer mode to get unknown
installs and in order to get
adb debugging we're going to click on
fire tv stick or it might say fire tv
stick light it might say fire tv
whatever it says right here that i'm on
right now we're gonna click it seven
times one two three four five six seven
and no need you're already developer so
we are now a developer so we're now
going to click back and there it is
developer mode is back there exactly
where it was install unknown updates is
there and adb debugging is there as well
so now we can click on that we can have
unknown uh unknown apps installed like
oes third-party apps can now be
installed now the thing that confuses me
is if they were going to completely
get rid of developer mode or the fact
that they moved it but then put it in
the same place once you activate it is
just a curious choice from amazon um you
know it's definitely a way for the
average user to have less access to
install unknown apps because most people
aren't going to go online and search how
to activate developer mode it's the same
thing on the nvidia shield however on
the nvidia shield you don't have to
activate developer mode in order to
install unknown apps so it's an
interesting decision from amazon and i'm
really curious to see if future updates
continue to block third-party apps so
just a short video for you guys today in
order to access developer mode hopefully
it helped you out okay if you guys also
have a second make sure you go and
follow me on twitter at upgrade
underscore guy i put it down below in
the description and also in the comments
so give me a follow we're trying to get
to 2000 by the end of the year thank you
so much for checking out this video and
i'll see you in the next one
