Looking good how to keep your fish healthy. I'll be uploading videos on the regular. You can comment below and ask any questions
I'll answer them as best as I can
so today we're gonna be talking about the three top tips of how to keep crystal-clear water and have your fish looking like they're
floating flying in the air
Okay. So here we go. So your first tip is not even gonna be part of the three because it's obvious
We obviously need filtration. That's what's gonna help your tank have crystal-clear water
In your filtration what matters the most for crystal-clear water is your mechanical filtration?
Not so much your biological filtration
Yes, you absolutely do need biological filtration, but we're not talking about that right now. We're talking about crystal-clear water
What's gonna give you clear water is your mechanical filtration? That's your sponges coarse medium and fine
that's gonna grab up all the poop grab up all the excess food grab up all the particles that are in your water and
Hold on to it so that your water comes back out of your filters
The cleanest possible way another very obvious thing is that you have to do water changes
It's work. It's maintenance. It's required for a fish tank. If you want to have crystal-clear water
So now that we've gone through the obvious stuff. Let's go through your top three tips
Tip number one is gonna be your feeding process
If you're new to fish keeping and you've got a brand new tank, I can tell you right now you're overfeeding cut it in half
Half
Whatever you're feeding right now is too much the excess food that stays in your tank
creates cloudiness
Whatever food your fish do not eat
Stays on the bottom of your substrate and that will cloud your water
The way I feel is I feed northen pellets
These pellets will sink to the bottom of the tank
But I feed in very small dosages
So that the fish can eat all the pellets before it hits the bottom if they eat all the food before it's the bottom
I add a little bit more watch them eat all the food again and before hits the bottom as soon as I add food and
They do not consume it before hitting the gravel then I know I fed too much or that's my stopping point right there
You don't want excess food all over the bottom of your substrate. That's gonna cause cloudy water
Tip number two of the not so obvious ways to get crystal-clear water. It's gonna be a
wave maker
Why?
multiple reasons
Obviously, we know that we have to aerate our fish tanks right I have aeration as well
I have the bubbles going but a wave maker knocks two birds with one stone
How a wave maker causes aeration by giving you surface tension that allows oxygen to enter the tank
but it also helps with crystal-clear water a
Wave maker will circulate the water in your tank and help to move the debris and excess food and excess poop
Towards your intake filters
That circulation of water is was going to be very beneficial to keeping your water crystal clear
We have to get all the excess detritus poop food all of it to your intakes. So your filters can get rid of it
That's where a wave maker comes in very handy and it also helps with aeration
Tip number three is something called polyfill if you haven't heard about it yet. You will hear about it in this hobby
Polyfill is a very very fine
polyester material
That you put in your filter in your canister and your hang on back. That's gonna grab every tiny little particles in your water
Polyfill is super cheap. You can get it at Walmart. You can get it on Amazon
They delivered the next day
If you have Prime, it's dirt cheap for the benefits that it has and once it gets full of gunk
All you gotta do is replace it toss it throw it away put some new in you're good to go
Polyfill is definitely a must have if you want crystal-clear fish floating in the air type water
So as promised here's your supercool bonus tip very cheap
Very economic and is definitely gonna help in getting some crystal-clear water. You see back here in this corner
I can find my finger. There it is
That's a very very cheap sponge filter
All it takes is an air tube attached to it. And that's it. No other mechanical parts no electronics
No power you attach an air pump one airline right to it. This is gonna be a dual effect
it's gonna give you extra mechanical filtration because it's gonna soak up all the detritus that's in your tank and
It's very useful for biological filtration as well because the beneficial bacteria get to grow on top of this sponge
also
Any excess food that that sponge filter catches your fish will eventually munch on it and they'll get it out of the water for you
